This location is great and central in Portino. It is about 200meters from the large public parking garage. The garden is huge and the staff is great. We did not have a reservations but got the last room in the place please go here it is the best. I am going back for sure.

This is the best kept secret location of the Italian Riviera!! Away from the hustle of Portofino, but a lovely 20 minute hike or hotel shuttle will take you to the town. We stayed 3 nights in August and could not have been happier with the hotel and service. Everything inch of the property is very clean and every member of the staff was polite and helpful. It has an amazing garden and is right next to the sea. The concierge is very helpful and helps you organise activities. The rooms are well equipped and the beds are very comfortable, and some of the rooms have a wonderful sea side view. Hotel with modern rooms in the center of Santa Margherita. For a 5 star I would have expected evening turndown and breakfast with more choice and more quality products. Hotel does not have a garage: we booked parking but our car was parked on the street in front of the hotel.

Comfortable and convenient location. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. Breakfast was included which was a plus. We also had a view of the beachfront from our room. Only downside was that the WiFi was slow at times and water was not provided in the rooms although this can be purchased from nearby stores for cheap prices.

The hotel was average with basic rooms and sadly the service wasn’t up to scratch. There were too many “no” to things we asked about. In particular the lady at reception can be quite rude and abrupt. On the plus side the staff at breakfast were super friendly.

Overall a solid place to stay, yet very overpriced. Big plus for spacios bathrooms and the engaged staff. Regarding the beds I can assure you from travel experience in 3rd world countries: These DO NOT come short in giving you a 3rd world experience. North Korea provides better beds, without a doubt. Even in the Swiss military I've had more comfortable beds, it was a shame.

This hotel is fine, but I’m not sure it warrants 5*. On our first night we were given a room with no shower (!) which seems a bit unusual for a hotel of this standard. After complaining the staff kindly offered to change us to another room at no incremental charge, but I think this is very unusual for a 5* (and certainly should have been communicated more clearly on the website to avoid the unpleasant...

This hotel offers a perfect location for a visit to Santa Margherita and Portofino. The dock is in easy walking distance for a boat trip to Portofino, and there is also a train station within and easy walk. Lots of restaurants are nearby as well. The hotel is very nice, and the staff is excellent!

This place is FANTASTIC. Kind’ve a hidden gem a short boat ride north of Portofino in Santa Margherita which, in our opinion, is a better town to stay in for multiple nights. Faultless experience! This beautiful hotel has the best views of Santa Margherita and Portfino. Our suite with balcony and sea views was spacious and beautifully decorated with 2 bathrooms and a separate sitting room. The staff were excellent and breakfast on the terrace was stunning. For 4 days in May 2025 it felt like a fairytale in a palace.

The location is a feature that makes this place worth an experience: a wide view of Santa Margherita Ligure and the Tigullio Gulf. The service is very efficient and courteous. The gastronomic preparations are made with raw materials of the highest quality and in compositions with brilliant notes of originality.

This is not per se a luxury hotel. But it is really comfortable and the luxury is with the spectacular view, the great service and the intimacy. It feels like being in a private home very nicely renovated. The pools are fantastic and heated. The garden is great.

Attracted by the location that is nothing short of exceptional, I found myself appreciating the high-level structure and the kindness of the staff, always available and attentive. Proposals from the kitchen adequate to the level of the structure, excellent raw materials and exceptional fish, valid cellar to refine. A pleasant experience in a refined but familiar environment, certainly to be repeated

I just came back from a 2 night stay at this holiday and it was amazing. The pool is beautiful, the views are breathtaking, cleanliness 5/5, and most importantly the staff were just so nice and polite . Just a bit of a climb to get to the property by car but once you reach the top it’s worth it. Complimenti! Oh and the food, let’s not forget that, absolutely exquisite . Congratulations, probably...

Excellent location. Away from the noise of portofino. Excellent staff the were very supportive and friendly . Also the breakfast was very good . The view was breathtaking The only advise that I would recommend the guests to avoid is to request taxi even those who are dealing with the resort as they will take the advantage of being tourists and they will charge you much higher than the regular amount...

This place is great. It’s old but that’s the charm. It’s beautiful and unique. The service provided was easily one of the best parts about the stay, everyone was extremely nice and professional. The amenities were amazing, there was like 4 different types of saunas and even 4 different types of showers (who knew?) and being able to jump into crystal blue waters and then order a beer to my pool lounge...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Excelsior Hotel in Rapallo, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel, nestled on the picturesque Ligurian coast, offers stunning views of the sea, and its location is perfect for exploring the charming town of Rapallo and nearby Portofino.

I had a really good short stay here in November. It was quieter than usual (only passed it in the summer when it was extremely busy). They have a great location, proper 5-star service. The mirrors in the room were a little old but that's part of the charm. The entire hotel looked like an 18th century aristocrat's home inside. It was beautiful.

Currently staying at this grand hotel for six nights, and I'm delighted to do so. This is a 5-star hotel with nothing but charm and elegance. Beautifully appointed throughout, with the most opulent main foyer. The Excelsior sets the standard to be met by others. Our room overlooks the sea from the balcony. I just love the vibe! Old charm and attentive service. The views are just magical. Only thing that could be better - arrangement of sun beds in beach club. Sun beds shouldn’t be booked with towels for the time they are not actually occupied. At least the ones that are close front by the water. And you could put couple more floating sun-beds - it was creat addition this year to find! Will be back! ...

Very comfortable hotel in ideal position for an attractive, short walk, into town. Very good breakfast with friendly and efficient staff. People on reception went extra mile to help us when the next hotel on trip cancelled our booking. Wonderful views from terrace. No hesitation in recommending.

Lovely little gem of a hotel, in a good position. We visited in the high season, so busy in Rapallo. Lovely roof top terrace. Fantastic views. We walked to Santa Margherita along the coast. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful; the continental breakfast was very good. The room was fine but bathroom was very small. Rapallo is a great seaside town that allows day trips to Portofino & Genova.

Fantastic Hotel and the staff were so friendly. A lovely breakfast was included and the location of the Hotel was a perfect walking distance to town. Parking available as well. Room was a good size and very comfortable bed and facilities.

Excellent location, lovely room with 2 balconies and overall excellent service. The owner is very customer focused and goes the extra to make you feel welcome. Highly recommend as a perfect location to explore Rapallo and rest of Liguria.
