I was lucky enough to visit Portofino in July 2024 and had the most wonderful dinner at this hotel. Prearranged months in advance, requesting a table outside and what I got was beyond amazing! Sat overlooking the iconic harbour view was one of the best experiences of my life and I cannot thank the team responsible enough for letting this happen. This hotel is very bit of magic. I could not imagine a more perfect stay. Every detail is perfect. Every portion thoughtful. Breakfast on the terrace, transfers, beach, pool, gym. The team never ceased to amaze me.

This is the best kept secret location of the Italian Riviera!! Away from the hustle of Portofino, but a lovely 20 minute hike or hotel shuttle will take you to the town. Fantastic location, staff beyond friendly, has a sister hotel which provides access to a beautiful private beach, staff provided gr8 recommendations, breakfast was awesome, place superb and well maintained. We stayed 3 nights in August and could not have been happier with the hotel and service. Everything inch of the property is very clean and every member of the staff was polite and helpful. The concierge reserved all of our dinners, rides to/from the airport and Portofino, and an incredible boat trip which saved a lot of stress. Piano player at the night bar was a nice touch. It has an amazing garden and is right next to the sea. The concierge is very helpful and helps you organise activities. The rooms are well equipped and the beds are very comfortable, and some of the rooms have a wonderful sea side view. The one problem is the WiFi was quite slow so if you’re planning to do work in your hotel room, note that you may need to use a private connection. But other than that...

Overall a solid place to stay, yet very overpriced. Big plus for spacios bathrooms and the engaged staff. Regarding the beds I can assure you from travel experience in 3rd world countries: These DO NOT come short in giving you a 3rd world experience. North Korea provides better beds, without a doubt. Even in the Swiss military I've had more comfortable beds, it was a shame.

I recommend it with flying colors! Very kind and hospitable staff were able to accommodate all our requests and information. The hotel is located in the very center of the city with attention to every detail. Suites with jacuzzi and spa offer moments of complete relaxation.

This hotel is fine, but I’m not sure it warrants 5*. On our first night we were given a room with no shower (!) which seems a bit unusual for a hotel of this standard. After complaining the staff kindly offered to change us to another room at no incremental charge, but I think this is very unusual for a 5* (and certainly should have been communicated more clearly on the website to avoid the unpleasant...

This hotel offers a perfect location for a visit to Santa Margherita and Portofino. The dock is in easy walking distance for a boat trip to Portofino, and there is also a train station within and easy walk. Lots of restaurants are nearby as well. The hotel is very nice, and the staff is excellent!

Faultless experience! This beautiful hotel has the best views of Santa Margherita and Portfino. Our suite with balcony and sea views was spacious and beautifully decorated with 2 bathrooms and a separate sitting room. The staff were excellent and breakfast on the terrace was stunning. For 4 days in May 2025 it felt like a fairytale in a palace.

This place is great. It’s old but that’s the charm. It’s beautiful and unique. The service provided was easily one of the best parts about the stay, everyone was extremely nice and professional. The amenities were amazing, there was like 4 different types of saunas and even 4 different types of showers (who knew?) and being able to jump into crystal blue waters and then order a beer to my pool lounge...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Excelsior Hotel in Rapallo, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel, nestled on the picturesque Ligurian coast, offers stunning views of the sea, and its location is perfect for exploring the charming town of Rapallo and nearby Portofino.

I had a really good short stay here in November. It was quieter than usual (only passed it in the summer when it was extremely busy). They have a great location, proper 5-star service. The mirrors in the room were a little old but that's part of the charm. The entire hotel looked like an 18th century aristocrat's home inside. It was beautiful.

I just love the vibe! Old charm and attentive service. The views are just magical. Only thing that could be better - arrangement of sun beds in beach club. Sun beds shouldn’t be booked with towels for the time they are not actually occupied. At least the ones that are close front by the water. Amazing location just far enough from the tourist center but easy walk to it. Also with easy access to a private, scenic beach. Our second time staying there and would definitely return but wouldn’t recommend dining there.
