Reviews
The resort is beautiful and well- maintained. The staff are very friendly and the resort is clean. It is an ideal place to relax.
Erasmo at the beach pool is very friendly and helpful.
Having your own transport is helpful, as it is about a 30 minute walk to a supermarket or to Portichello, where there are bars and restaurants. When we were at the Resort, there were very limited places to buy food.
In the hotel perimeters, they have some “””restricted””” areas for “d club members”. You will get bothered by people trying to lure you into a drink at the bar, before asking you for 15.000 euro’s to become a member of the d club.
The actual staff doesn’t really speak English, but that doesn’t matter as they don’t really acknowledge your presence either way. They will only interact with you if you ask them something and even then they will do it with minimal interaction.
The beds are as hard as wood, but you can get a topper. That doesn’t really help, as they are very soft. My backs hurts a lot after sleeping here.
The walls of the rooms are made of cardboard. You can hear everything that’s going on in the hallway or in the rooms next to you.
The bathrooms are clean and spacious, so that’s a plus. The shower also has a good beam of water.
The salt water pool is relaxing and clean. It’s a nice spot to sit in the morning, but do know that you will be bothered by people trying to sell you tours and activities, even when you tell them not to.
All in all I would not recommend this place. It feels like a money grab and the personnel doesn’t really care about you. It’s in the middle of nowhere and they take full advantage of this by overcharging a lot.
Why you should go here...
Beautiful view
Very comfy bed
Great shower pressure
Clean pools
Fresh evening meals
Friendly staff
Evening entertainment with the dancers - incredible!
Boat trip is highly recommended!
Why you shouldn't...
If you have a dietary requirement - My sister was vegan and somehow a plate of salad/plain veg was seen as adequate?! No effort was made to provide a proper meal. No protein - such as tofu etc. Despite local supermarkets being well stocked in this. And for dessert? Nothing!
If you have an allergen. Don't step foot in here unless you want an appointment at the local hospital. Staff had no idea what was in the food. Labels were incorrect. Good luck to you 🙏
Steps... there's visible steps and hidden steps everywhere. So get ready to burn your quads (and trip up)
Reception desk - no organisation. Simple query? Join the Q with everyone trying to check out or check in.
Entertainment - the dancers were amazing but the singers beforehand need to change up the song list. Some of the songs sung were so depressing. I felt like slowly entering the sea. Not at all jolly. Additionally to this, the entertainment is placed right outside everyone's hotel rooms. So no early nights for you (if you're pool side).
Location - no walkways for evening strolls outside the hotel, unless you're comfortable walking on a fast moving traffic road. Have to get a train/taxi to find life elsewhere.
D club - get ready to feel like a second class citizen. Comfy pool beds only reserved for the members. Peasant beds for hotel guests.
Worst experience ever.
Since we arrived no one explained to us how the Hotel works... no hours for breakfast.. no hours for the swimming pool.. not a list of all activites or plan for the diffrerent Hotel's areas.. not even the wifi code ! They just gave us our room keys...
Swimming pool :
If you go after 10.30 am then you have no space where to sit...
Dinner/breakfast buffet :
DON'T TAKE IT.
It's located in a closed area. With shaded windows. You can't even see the view.
TOO LOUDY, too noisy and the food is not good !
It's like they want you to spend the minimum time possible there in order not to consume too much of the buffet.
The location :
It's far from everything so you need a rental car or a very expensive taxis to go somewhere else.
In all the Hotel :
Everytime you sit somewhere you are told that it's not for you here. At the swimming pools there are some places reserved only for "club members". And so is the breakfast/dinner area.
The pity is that they don't explain anytging in advance.
They don't show you where to sit. They wait for you to sit somewhere and come to tell you to move because you're not member of the club...
=> Very bad organization that makes feel very less.
In short words :
DON'T GO THERE. Sicily is not all like that from what we saw when we visited Palerm. We will go back to Sicily but certainely not in this Hotel.
Staff was friendly overall and kid’s club staff were amazing!
We did half board and several additional meals as it was so hard to get anywhere. The food was pretty unsatisfying overall, even the coffee was quite bad - something you don’t expect in Italy.
We made our stay work out, but would not go back or recommend this hotel.
The hotel is clean!
