Astoria Palace Hotel

The overall experience is terrible. The restaurant was filthy and in general the hotel is very dirty. The staff was rude. Only the room cleaners were nice and the person outside at the parking area. I would definitely not recommend.

Rooms are ok. Atmosphere in the hotel terrible just as the breakfast. Location is bad, minibar is twice as expensive as the pricelist in the room because of not mentioned citytaxes?!?!? It’s in the middle of nowhere and taxis are not cheap. You get what you pay for, not much…

Stayed in this hotel twice now - second time was just because it was cheapest option and we expected the first time to have just been unlucky. So, the first time, coming to a 4 star hotel, expectations are obviously up there. It looks stunning from outside and the main reception area is sort of up to standard. The room however.. as it was build in probably 80s or 90s, nothing has been updated. Tiles in the bathroom are cracked, shower heads are not holding up and rusty, beds are moving around the room at a slightest touch. Walls are stained, my husband found a dead fly stuck to it and spiderwebs in the corners. Restaurant is also outdated (although the food is good 👍) and having dinner there you feel like you're in a way as there's always set ups for next day whatever. First night having dinner another fuest sitting at a table close by randomly started smoking Iqos (thats indoors!). We complained about it and the waiter asked the gentelman to put it out. Afterwards, we saw the same person having a drink and smoking at a bar (also indoors) and were told by the bartender that hes someone important hence they cant say anything. I must mention that both times we were only staying for probably 3 nights only by the way. Coming back second time (hoping the last room being and exception..) it's even worse. Same cracked tiles in the bathroom, shower head is even worse than before, and - one morning we found an actual cockroach in the bathtub! The cleaners were lovely - they sanitised the bathroom after we told them (the service in general, especially the cleaners, is good). Staff is great considering the conditions they have to deal with, kudos to them 👏 but honestly, even though I can understand how a hotel in Palermo can keep a 4 star rating while being worth maximum 1, don't waste your money, it'll ruin your holiday.
