Reviews
The biggest issue is the in room climate controls. While there is a thermostat in each room, allowing you to change the temperature, no matter how low you set it, the coldest the room will ever get is 23°C (~74°F). And, as many are likely to agree, this is simply too warm, especially when trying to sleep. Also, as I said, this is as cold as it CAN get… during the day, it gets as high as 25°C (~77°F) in the room, presumably because the AC cannot keep up with the heat & humidity of a Sicilian summer. It would be great if the hotel disclosed this, but they do not, which is very misleading. For this reason alone, we would never stay here again, and cannot recommend this hotel.
Along with the rooms being too hot, the prices for food & drinks at this location are higher than the quality supports. Regarding cleanliness, the bathroom misses the mark, due to lots of stains in the toilet and tub (which leave both appearing dirty, even if they aren’t). Very disappointing.
There are a few good things about the hotel, though, such as the location, the pool, and the friendliness of the staff. The hotel excels in these areas, but again, they do not make up for the fact that one experiences restless nights trying to sleep in hot rooms.
End result: I do not recommend this hotel, nor would I ever stay here again.
The produce itself was poor with very little choice.
The pool area is beautiful. Plenty of towels and beds.
However the service around the Poole is extremely poor and expensive. Two soft drinks (that took an hour to receive) were 13 euros.
The food was really poor too. No care or time taken on taste, or presentation.
This place is a useful stop in Palermo but stay room only. Go around the corner for street food for breakfast instead.
Hotel parking is messy. Its management as well. The hotel subcontracted its parking to a private security company (Lion). There are discrepancies in prices between what the hotel stated (20 euros per night), and the price I was asked by the security guard (25 euros, arguing it is a price for big vehicles, while this is nowhere stated). The guard was rude and aggressive in its asking for a higher price. "You take it or no?? You take it or no ??". He sais it was hotel's decision on prices, but at the reception, they said it was the security company, and they would discuss with them. Finally hotel confirmed it was 20 euros. The guard was also asking to keep the key to my car, as the parking is small and they move the cars around to pack the parking as much as possible. But my car was in the far back not blocking anybody's car. At the end, he agreed I could keep the key. The guard gives you a small slip of paper to bring to reception, which, later, gives you half this slip of paper to give back to the guard when leaving the parking. I think this parking could be better managed. It looks like the guards are under pressure from their management, so their job is not easy either, and after the prices were settled, they were friendly. But the first experince was frankly horrible.
Parking on the street in front of the hotel is free but unguarded, so, no guarantee, and there are not always spaces available.
1- Disaster service: every 1-5 start hotels in the world at list provide you very basic service in their room including a bottle of water, coffee or tea, and reasonable speed wifi. In this hotel you need to pay 3 euros if you want to drink a bottle of watter. There is no coffee and tea in the room, and wifi speed is a joke. You need to pay 10 euros extra per day if you want to get a reasonable speed wifi :)))
2- Trying to double charge the guests: they try to double charge us two times, once at checkin and once at checkout by insisting that we haven’t paid to the hotel yet. Each time we had ~10 minutes arguments and showing them bank transactions!
3- Unhealthy breakfast: not only the breakfast is a joke, but also they serve leftover scrambled eggs and hot boiled eggs from the days before which is kind of a toxic food!
4- No hygiene, not clean: rooms and toilets stink, but more importantly beds have bugs. After the first night my wife’s scalp was very itchy and my upper lips were swollen. If you check the old comments you will find a lot of complaints about bed bugs!!!
5- very rude and unfriendly reception.
Never ever think about staying even for one night in this hotel(!).
