Hotel Punta Tipa in Trapani

This hôtel is noted as à 4 star hôtel but merits ony 2. Thé only positive aspects were( 1) friendly receptionists at thé front desk and (2) Thé sea view with à large terrace. Breakfast was acceptable for thé price of 11€ per person. Though considering thé price of thé room, breakfast should have been included. Thé coffee machine in Europe's coffee capital Italy, was not upto Italian standard.Coffee quality was poor. Thé large terrace of our room was completely empty,No outdoor furniture at all..not even à chair or à small table. The terrace also gave on to the main road on one side. Thé room was small for à 4 star hôtel. Thé shower was à disaster..only à shower head with à glass partition too small. Thé déck area in front of thé restaurant was dévoid of all furniture too The restaurant was closed for all meals except breakfast. This may have been thé low season (November)but thé room ratés were certainly not low. Water bottles in thé room were not complimentary.. 2€ per small bottle. Shame on the management for not being à little more generous with guests. Thé hôtel is à 25 minute walk to thé historical centre.

I usually don’t leave negative feedback as I prefer to forget bad experiences but our recent experience was so bad at this hotel that I have to provide advice for others.

There were no positives except a pleasant reception person constrained by a poorly run establishment.

Price point: we opted for a basic room as we had many activities planned and would not be at the hotel much. At€165 a night what we got doesn’t in any way match the price point. This is in no way a 4-star hotel and I a not sure how they obtained that rating.

Location: It is across the road from a ghetto and beside an ugly smelly beach. It is so far from any decent cafes or restaurants that saying it is a short walk is deceptive.

The room: Our room has a sliding door as the entry door that had a dodgy lock and every night I feared for my safety of being able to get out if there was a fire. The room was not a four star room and it was less than basic. The noise and light that came in under the sliding door from the hallway prevented any restful sleep. The waste bins under our window that were used in the early morning ensured an early start. The products provided and the inclusions were of the cheapest quality.

The restaurant: We went to eat there and waited so long. The server told us it would just be a little longer and while we were waiting one of the servers and the cook had the loudest argument. I have never felt so uncomfortable or witnessed anything so unprofessional. In the day we arrived we ordered a pizza that turned out to be a frozen pizza heated up from the grumpiest barman we have encountered. He and the other staff clearly don’t like working there and it makes for a very uncomfortable and unpleasant stay. After this we didn’t bother using the hotel facilities or the pool and went out every day.

TV/WIFI: The only option is to watch Italian TV. There are no cast or streaming options and no non-Italian channels. Wifi password was only available at reception.

We asked about their leave early policy only to be told that we had to pay for the entire stay even if we left early.

I would not recommend this hotel in any way and I have nothing positive to say. Bad location, unpleasant staff and poor quality.

We have had very bad or better no experience with the hotel Punta Tipa in Trapani. Our reservation was changed to another hotel (Hotel Crystal) without prior contact or our agreement. After we decide not to stay in the hotel Crystal, we had trouble to get the promised refund of our money. For us, sadly, the hotel turned out to be a tourist trap.
