Hotel Canada in Venice

Small rooms but a good service. The place is perfect. It' s near St Marco basilica (apr 5 minute).

The location is great, but the toilet is not attached to the room and there's no elevator to go to the 3rd floor with your luggage, where the hotel reception is located.

I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of February. The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Venice, being a 5 minute walk from the Rialto Bridge and maybe 10 from St Marks Square. The hotel is basic with few frills. There are 2 flights of stairs to climb before the reception desk is reached and a further flight - at least - to get to the rooms.
I was allocated to room 23. I cannot comment on the other rooms as I didn't see them but I can only hope that they were better than mine. Basic is being polite. The bathroom - I'm being as constructive as I can here - was rudimentary. It was basically a wet room 'gone wrong' - in order to have a shower I virtually had to stand next to the toilet on an untiled floor. The hot water took at least 5 minutes to come through (I was advised of this by reception). The bed, whilst reasonably comfortable, was wire sprung on a metal frame which squeaked every time I moved. (Stop giggling at the back!)
Storage space was minimal. There was an air of squalor - I can think of no better word.
On the upside the staff were friendly, approachable and sociable. I just wish the room had been better.

I wish i culd give this hotel 0 stars. The only good thing about the hotel is the location and kind staff . To get to the real roms you have to walk 5flors becuase there is no elevator.
The room quality is horible they are small, the fourniture is old and broken. I realy wuldnt recomend it becuase there are a lot better options in the same price range.

I was there with my girlfriend for a drink and looking at the other reviews I am happy we didn't stay in one of the rooms. The staff was very unfriendly and we waited quite long to be served. Also the restrooms were disgusting. The only positive thing was the Aperol Spritz which was really tasty.

I wish to give 0 star if I could. We stayed for one night and got 20 bed bug bites all over our body. This was our first night of a week long trip in Italy, and obviously, our plan was severely affected having to visit laundromat numerous times to make sure we didn’t have bed bugs with us. We went to the pharmacy to get heaps of medicines for extreme itchiness and took antihistamine that made us drowsy throughout our trip.

We complained when we were checking out and asked for a refund. The receptionist said he needed to check with the manager. We called the next day and they didn’t get this complaint. We left an email according to their advice and didn’t hear back from them from then on.

Just to prevent this from happening to anyone else, we stayed in room 12B (the hotel receptionist told us that they will close down the room, but I doubt it at this point as they didn’t get back to us which they said they will) and we found another review suffering from bed bugs dating 5months back. BE AWARE!!!
