Reviews
Extremely misleading room description. Ferry lights illuminated our room all night long when we expected a view of the pool and ocean/bay?
Someone did a sloppy white coat of paint at some time and all the molding in the rooms and hallways shows the paint.
The room electricity needs a room key to run and if you leave the do not disturb light is no longer on.
However room service must also put a key in the slot in order to turn on the electricity and would then see the do not disturb sign illuminated. They do not care and will move all of your belongings which for us was money, camera equipment, and lingerie without caring that you had a do not disturb sign.
The front desk did not even have a schedule for the gozo channel ferry and handed me the Sliema - Valletta ferry schedule which was hilarious.
The service in the beach front restaurant was also horrible.
The only reason to stay here is if you are diving and do not want to travel far afterwards. The atmosphere was like an old scene from the dirty dancing movie with a lot of old Germans who looked very unhappy sitting around listening to karaoke at night.
Good things first - the dinner buffet had some really yummy food and also the Sunday lunch buffet. Also most of the staff was friendly. On Saturday night there was entertainment in the bar which we enjoyed.
Cons - I will attach pictures showing the state of disrepair of bits of this hotel. The indoor pool had two big glass window panels literally missing. There was a storm in Satuday and we were being rained on in the indoor pool cause the roof was leaking.
Also there were peeling walls, rust everywhere. After the storm the surround of one of the outside pools was not even swept and till the following day was full of debris. Worst even still was that in Saturday there was a dead cockroach near a deckchair in the indoor pool. On Sunday that cockroach was still there, so obviously no staff had been round and cleaned the indoor pool area.
Because of the heavy rain, we had water coming in the room. Staff came to mop it up but must have missed a puddle because I managed to slip and fell. When I told this to the guy on reception, he did not even acknowledge what I had told him
Also breakfast was mediocre at best.
If you are a 4 star hotel offer 4 star service
1) One of the hotel’s staff opened our room at 5:00 am even though the door was closed … they apologised and offered a lunch buffet (once…)
2) The same women that offered the lunch buffet was not polite at all … when I started explaining all the problems my girlfriend and I had she cut me off like I was bothering her …
3) They have a ping pong table but they did not have any balls
4) Bed not comfy at all
5) We paid for a view on the see and we got a view on the parking instead (see picture) but in the impolite women’s opinion it is what we paid for and when I explained her that is was not she cut me off
6) Swimming pool was not that clean, that is a 4 stars hotel but there isn’t any guard
7) the gym was not like the pictures on their website
We paid a four stars hotel thinking that there wouldn’t be any problems but we left disappointed.
There are still some perks :
- The man that works behind the reception’s desk on the night shift is very friendly
- Cleaning team is also friendly
- Except the bed our room was acceptable
- You can postpone the check out
The bar service was just as bad – bar staff was extremely rude, unhelpful, and painfully slow. It honestly felt like the staff were doing everything they could to make guests give up on using the bar. Every time you take even a bottle of water, you’re watched with suspicion and practically treated like a thief.
There’s no air conditioning in the lobby, which makes it uncomfortably stuffy.
At the pool which has salty water and is really deep, people smoke freely, and there is no lifeguard on duty, which is not only unpleasant but also unsafe.
The so-called “private beach” is nothing more than a part of the port, where you're constantly breathing in fumes from the endless stream of arriving ships. There's absolutely nothing relaxing about it.
Avoid this place. It’s not worth the money or even a single star.
It also has an another restaurant across the road with a private beach and water sports activities which was great.
Location is good if you rent a car or fancy the long bus journeys.
I noticed a lot of locals getting off buses and parking at the hotel to use the pool and facilities at the weekends so be aware it gets very busy at times.
Overall a good stay we would happily stay again.
Room management needs improvement.. we got the wrong room at first and had to request a change.
Thanks to Alberto..
