Reviews
Our third visit to Malta in the last 3 years has shown to be much more below our expectations. I have included a few photos that prove the gap between the prestige the hotel claims to have and the reality: dirty curtain, rusted and dirty bathroom furniture and accessories, the bathroom door which could not be closed, mold on the ceiling, rust in the kettle, dirt wall close to the breakfast table etc. All are structural management deficiencies, despite the cleaning staff's work.
Even the shower cap is a must for any guest, we had only two during our 5 day stay. In fact, only one (which I kept carefully), the other one has been taken on the 2nd day and not replaced.
The pool has a strange and impractical shape for anyone who really wants to move their arms more than twice.
Breakfast is fixed. In the five days, I think I noticed two differences: a minimuffin (5th day) and a different fruit (4th day).
The only advantage is its central location.
I don't think we've ever been denied the use of a table for four because we were only a couple and we wanted to avoid the AC flow. Ever! And I (personally) have spent about 50 nights a year in hotel rooms worldwide until recently, about 30 nights a year now.
But the most unpleasant experience was related to check-out. Although we checked in after 11 p.m. (on the first day) and although we had a promise (on the fifth night), we were refused a late check-out the next morning. We couldn't even spend the hours until our evening flight at the rooftop pool. "Fully booked," even though hotel aggregators showed at least three rooms available out of the hotel's probably 50.
The only advantage is its central location. I think you can get all the other things from the competition. At fairer prices and (definitely) with more positive emotions and memories.
From the moment we walked in being greeted by their friendly staff, Ojo made us feel at home. We arrived a few hours before check in time, and they allowed us to check in early.
We opted for a Sea View room which has amazing views of Spinola and provides a great place to enjoy an evening drink on the balcony and watch over the bustling bay.
The Rooftop Pool and Bar is a lovely bonus, but it would’ve been nice if they had a longer happy hour so we could’ve enjoyed some longer evenings up there.
Breakfast at the hotel is perfect, a great range of Pastries, Fruit and Hot Breakfast and the best fresh orange juice we’ve ever had.
Location wise it’s perfect with a number of great restaurants within a couple of minutes walk from the front entrance and a bus stop opposite to take you almost anywhere on the island.
Thank you again to Ojo and all the staff for making it another wonderful stay. Until next time Hotel Juliani.
Starting from the staff — all hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked a sea view room — the room and bed were very comfortable, clean, and spacious. The balcony was large, with an absolutely stunning view. The area is quite crowded, but the soundproofing is excellent, so you can sleep peacefully without any noise.
As for the location — it’s amazing! Very easy to reach any part of Malta. There are also plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby, so you’ll never go hungry.Breakfast at the hotel was also delicious, especially the Greek yogurt bowl.
As a very picky person, I loved everything about Hotel Juliani — the atmosphere and aura take your holiday experience to another level. ❤️
Special thanks to William and Alfred!
One of the highlights was the rooftop pool on the 9th floor — the view from up there is amazing and it’s a perfect spot to relax. The location is also great: right across from a bus station (super convenient for exploring the island), and in a quiet part of St. Julian’s, away from clubs or construction noise.
The only downside was the breakfast. While the food was good, the variety was very limited — the same few options every day for a whole week, which got repetitive.
Overall, a very pleasant hotel with a great atmosphere, perfect location, and beautiful rooftop views. Just a little more variety at breakfast would make it excellent.
Everything was wonderful and it was a real bonus to have the hotel café downstairs for a coffee, drink or snack with harbour and people watching views!
