The Malika Hotel – Phuket Old Town
I stayed at The Malika Hotel during a visit to Phuket Old Town and overall the experience was positive, with a few areas that could be improved.

The hotel is modern and welcoming, featuring a large central pool that all the rooms overlook — a very charming view. The rooms are spacious, bright, and include a small outdoor area that’s perfect for relaxing. Inside, you’ll find all the essentials: wardrobe, fridge, kettle, desk, and air conditioning. The bathroom is functional and comes with shampoo and shower gel.

Upon arrival, the hotel requires a 1,000 THB cash deposit, which is fully refunded at checkout without any issues.

I didn’t try the breakfast because the selection was quite limited and offered no vegan options. This is definitely something the hotel could improve to better accommodate a wider range of guests.

The location is quiet, but the hotel is a bit tucked away from the main street, which can make it difficult for taxis or Grab drivers to find. Additionally, the property is completely open, meaning that in theory anyone could walk in — something to consider if you prefer a more controlled environment. There’s no laundry service or bar, although there is a small fridge with drinks and a stand with snacks.

Overall, The Malika Hotel is a good choice if you’re looking for a modern stay with spacious rooms and a nice pool, keeping in mind its limited services, hidden location, and the cash deposit required at check-in.

Pleasant stay here for a few days. Room was adequate however smelt quite bad which didn’t seem to go away.
It was cool having a room with the pool right outside.
Staff always at reception and very helpful and friendly with any queries we had!
Pretty quick to drive a scooter into town and not too far to good attractions such as elephant sanctuary and monkey view point.

Overall a good Hotel, location not far from the old town and in the same time tucked away from the busy city. Nice calm and peaceful setting. However after a few days, we had a strong smell of sewage coming from the bathroom, staff tried to fix it but weren’t able to. I guess we just godt unlucky.

Located down an alleyway from the street which creates a quiet vibe at the Malika. The rooms are spacious and beds are extremely comfortable. We had a pool access room which was an added bonus to wake and have a swim. Who needs to be close to the beach when you have a pool like to this in such a quiet and relaxing area.

Staff are friendly and the rooms are cleaned very well each day. A thank you to the cleaning staff.

Would definitely stay here again if I returned to Phuket Town.

It's a functional centrally located hotel, away from the noise of the central Old Town. Rooms are spacious & clean with aircon & TV. WiFi is free. There is no lift and no breakfast though they do offer tea/coffee, toast and fresh banana's from 7-10 There are plenty of options for restaurants, cafes and street food to choose from. The pool is refreshing.

Inexpensive and decent.

We rented 2 rooms (2 adults and 3 kids). The additional bed costed 500 bath extra.

The hotel is well maintained. The rooms and the pool are clean. Staff is helpful. Location is great.

One of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. We had to stay here for 7 days to complete the Phuket Sandbox Scheme and we can't imagine doing it anywhere better. Really nice rooms, very spacious and clean with a great pool for getting some morning laps in. Staff are also so so friendly and kind, thank you for a great stay! Don't hesitate to stay here :)

Amazing staff, room and pool! :) We enjoyed our week here for the Phuket Sandbox scheme. Very happy we chose this hotel and would definitely recommend for test & go! Phuket Town is really cool to explore. It's close to a few vegetarian restaurants or you can use grab/food panda :)
