My experience at Railay Princess Resort was absolutely horrendous. The hotel was disgusting, our room was filthy, the bathrooms were full of toxic mold, and the entire place reeked of such a foul smell that it made me sick during the night cause the smell does become worst. Breathing in mold is dangerous, and staying here felt genuinely unsafe I want to specially advertise for them thinking of coming with kids, pregnant woman or health problems to be careful!
To make matters worse, the management outright lied to us. After seeing the conditions, we were assured by the manager that we would be refunded. But once we left, they completely went back on their word and refused to give us a single cent back. They even refused to refund the boat ride off the island, which left us literally trapped unless we kept paying them. I ended up having to book a private boat at a much higher cost, but honestly, we didn’t have a choice!
Looking at their reviews, it’s clear this is not a one-off situation. Railay Princess Resort has a pattern of mistreating guests, lying, and refusing refunds. They clearly know that if they honored refunds for the number of complaints they receive, they would go out of business.
This hotel needs to be shut down until they fix their mold and pipes situation or at least advertise it before people are literally stuck there we only boat to return to safety, without mentioning the unwelcoming person at the front desk (the concierge man was really nice thank you), the WiFi was also not working in our room, and the door is really complicated to lock but they says it’s normal because it’s old, really unsafe, thief or the monkeys could easily come in.
The place might have been nice 15 years ago now it’s chaos! However the place is nice with nice view from the beach to walk on (no seats on the beach by the hotel) I would recommend to visit from a day tour only! Avoid this place at all costs, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere that actually values their guests’ health and trust.

Welcoming receptionists make really good vibe and the first feeling is great.
Unfortunately the room on the ground floor was completely molded and old. From the first in you can smell high humidity and not well ventilated space. It is clean and well prepared for guests, but mold destroys all atmosphere. When tried to change the room, the other one shown by the crew had exactly the same problem… our friends stayed on the high floor had newer and not smelly room, so it is possible there.
The swimming pool on the roof is overcrowded and not so nice, but garden swimming pool is great, clean and quiet.
Breakfast was very big and delicious.
That said, the hotel could benefit from significant attention. Communication with staff was poor—despite several attempts to confirm a twin room ahead of arrival, no response ever came, and unsurprisingly it hadn’t been arranged. The rooms and facilities are showing their age: rusty taps, rickety doors, and faulty lighting were all part of the experience. The gym was something of a running joke: one broken treadmill (possibly long out of service) and a yoga mat so threadbare it’s almost impressive. A few small updates and more attentive management could really lift the overall experience.
The amenities were very old, and there was a bad smell from the sewage. The shower was very old and rusted and the water was not so warm however the area around the hotel was nice with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops close by. The beach was quite clean.
The room was large and very comfortable
Breakfast the first day wasa bit cool from the buffet but after that all the food was much hotter
Both pools are good, there were enough beds each day when we were there to be able to laze in the sun. The upper pool filled up quicker
Staff very friendly
Monkeys were cheeky and can open the balcony doors so be wary
