Railay Bay Resort & Spa-SHA Extra Plus

Worst place I have ever been. Food for foreigners was really terrible and they don’t care……period. The normal local Thai food was terrible too and the food was way overpriced. Was there five days. Hotel didn’t even serve bacon due to a lot of Muslim culture there at the bay. Two items taste ok was the mango sticky rice for 150…..and the clear soup with pork for 150. The dishes averaged 300B everywhere. Drinks also expensive. Service is the worst stay away from Railay Bay and the surrounding islands. We went on a cheap four island excursion the last day and that told a lot of the wasted time and money spent on the trip.

Reading from the rest of the Google review here, yes rooms were wayyyyy older than advertised, but at least mine was clean.

When we checked into our rooms, the air-condition was not on, so it was extremely hot, when the weather is already 30+degrees out there. Took about 20minutes to cool down the room. And we also ran the water for the jacuzzi tub.
Amenities: standard toilet amenities like tooth brushes, shower cap, cotton buds (as pictured) reusable bedroom slippers + outdoors slippers, and bathrobe. I would appreciate if there was hair conditioner, really needed it on an island. Free Mini bar items.

Recommend to arrange with the hotel and pay for the airport transfer if you’d not sure how to go around. It’s comfortable and all taken care of, from airport pick up > 1 hr car ride > 15min boat ride > Buggy pick up to front desk.

Bad experience from the moment we touch point. During our check-in at the reception, the staff spoke very fast, telling me “all that I need to know” introduction. Then when I asked her some questions she can’t answer, has difficulty understanding. I had to repeat a few times. Honestly, I understand that they go thru the same words multiple times a day to new guests but this is not the way to welcome your guests. Totally like they just want to quickly get it over with.

Got bitten by mosquito at the front desk, asked if there’s insect repellent, and they said no, ask about the room, they said if there’s mosquito call them, they will send someone down to fix it - and when we really did call them, they just left the insecticide spray on the outside of our room.

As the area was quite big, I asked if there’s a map to this resort so we would know how to go around by foot, once again, didn’t understood my question, (repeated again) and she reluctantly gave me a map OF THE ISLAND, then said “oh we usually don’t give this out”. I just wanted to know how to go around the resort madam. My partner got a little pissed gave up. At the same time, the porter who took our luggage kept going with our luggage without looking if we were following him and lost us along the way. We couldn’t find the way to our room. Had to walk back the front desk to ask for help.

Breakfast choices were standard with continental breakfast, Asian, salad bar, fruits but not yummy at all. The only silver lining was the freshly made prata on day 2 of our breakfast.

The room has no view, villa style, but the resort is facing Railay Bay which is really beautiful and the whole reason why we stayed here.
