Reviews
First, the positives: the staff here are unbelievably kind and helpful, and they arranged a very convenient shuttle to and from Kayseri Airport. The rooftop views are absolutely stunning…truly one of the best in Cappadocia, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. We stayed in a Junior Suite, and the heated bathroom floors were a great touch during the chilly October evenings.
Where the experience fell short for us was the room comfort. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and felt more like sleeping on a firm sofa than a proper hotel bed. Additionally, the rooms are not sound-proof at all. We could hear everything (from outside noise to our neighbors) which made it tough to fully relax and get a good night’s sleep.
Sultan Caves has so much charm and great staff, but for the price, we expected more comfort and better room insulation.
Pros:
- Breakfast at Seten was the best meal we had in Cappadocia.
- You can use the pool at Kelebek Special Cave Hotel and Aza Cave Hotel (they’re in the same group).
- The staff were very helpful — they offered us a free ride to the bus station and even helped take photos during the proposal.
Cons:
- The room isn’t much different from other cave hotels.
- Watching balloons from the rooftop is one of their main selling points, but it completely depends on the weather. If you’re unlucky like us (only one balloon flight between Oct 7 and Oct 20 — wow), the price might not feel worth it.
Rooms are a bit smaller for the price range, but very solid and well-designed — from the sturdy sofa to the bathroom design. I especially loved the small balcony, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Highly recommend!
One of the standout highlights was the breakfast! The selection was incredible—freshly baked pastries, a variety of fruits, delicious local specialties, and perfectly brewed coffee to start the day right. Every bite was a treat, and the quality was exceptional. Sibel was very attentive, welcomed us every day and even remembered our orders.
The location of the hotel was perfect, making it easy to explore the area, and the amenities truly elevated my stay. I can't recommend Sultan Cave Suite enough for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. I'll definitely be returning!
When we asked if our room would be nice, his response was, “People don’t want to pay for good rooms but expect luxury”—a completely unprofessional and disrespectful comment. For the record, we had booked the last available room in January, and it’s not our fault the hotel couldn’t manage its availability better.
At check-out, we politely asked for an extension from 11am to 12pm due to a scheduled photoshoot and being slightly behind on packing. His reply? “I don’t negotiate.” Not only was this unnecessarily rude, but it also lacked basic customer service etiquette. There are polite ways to say no, and that was not it.
The restaurant staff at night weren’t any better—cold, arrogant, and made us feel as though they were doing us a favour just by serving food. There was no warmth or hospitality in any interaction, which is unacceptable in any hotel, let alone one that claims to be top-tier.
Room was smelly with no aircon and multiple tripping hazards, socket was broken with loose wires hanging. It was below 1 star.
This hotel is seriously overhyped. Poor service, rude staff, and a complete lack of hospitality. We spent a lot of money expecting a relaxing, luxury experience—and instead were treated with arrogance and I absolutely would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
