Folly Beach, 1 Center Street 🧭 Map
The view of the beach on the 6 floor but the balcony was small and air conditioner was leaking water. Sir conditioner was loud when on.
What blew me away was the quality of service. Everyone was friendly and helpful all the time. We really enjoyed our stay. Beachfront view from a comfortable room, and great food in the restaurant plus lovely surroundings made it worthwhile. Only reason I couldn't give it five stars is the price, but we did go at the end of peak for only one night.
Just got back from folly Beach. Stayed at the Tides hotel, from the moment I step out of my car I was greeted with great customer service. Joe brought up luggage up to our room. He explained how to find out information where to go to get coffee. In the lobby the receptionist was wonderful we talked about balconies. Next thing I know she sent up two chairs. I did have her hair dryer in my room and they...
four stars because the rooms need some updating (Not very badly, but might need it in the next 5 years) other than that, it is a very great hotel. the other reviews say the walls (Bottom) are somewhat dirty, but come on. its a BEACH hotel people come from the beach a lot, so they have a bunch of stuff! (Also its a old hotel to) people that work here are very nice, kids can have fun at the beach and...
fantastic position, great views of the ocean including the tropical storm during our stay. Comfortable room, easy parking and a great on site restaurant. lots of local places to eat as well nearby. Not far from Charleston so a great base for both the beach and sightseeing.
We had an amazing time! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Getting the text messages to check on our stay was wonderful. The room was clean and comfortable. The only thing we would have liked was a microwave in the room. The pool was relaxing. The beachfront was beautiful. We seen several dolphins during our stay. Would recommend Tides to our friends.

We recently stayed at the Folliday Inn & it was lovely! It has been recently remodeled with modern furnishings, kitchenette & the double vanity in the bath was a bonus! It's a quaint place with a fabulous location. You can walk everywhere in Folly & can be on the beach in about 5 minutes! The pool was nice & private. I would definitely stay here again!
We stayed at Holliday Inn ( that's 2 L's) years ago and it was in need of updating and repairs. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw the new Folliday Inn! Beautifully remodeled with keeping the old charm. Comfortable bed and and low step in tub! We're older folks. The landscaping around the property created a nice Oasis. The location was so convenient, walking distance to everything, beach, restaurants...
My boyfriend and I stayed at the brand new Folliday Inn for a weekend and it was a very peaceful and wonderful experience! The rooms were clean and comfortable, the property was beautiful and quiet, and you can't beat the location. We were just steps from Center Street and a 5-minute walk from the beach. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.
I recommend! Great customer service! I was nervous about staying here because of the mixed reviews but for no reason! The lady that checked me in was super friendly. But our house keeper, Danielle, was the best. I have traveled a lot for many years and this is the first review that I can rave about the staff. She was the greatest and we absolutely loved her. She constantly checked on us. I seriously...
The Holliday Inn is a classic beach motel. We enjoyed the throwback style, Louis is awesome and the location can't be beat. Looking forward to our next adventure on Folly.
The first impression was not good at all. There was confusion with the website we went through to book that night and it created a huge delay. They booked us for a 1 queen bed room and we needed 2 with 3 adults and a child. But after all the confusion the staff was really friendly and very helpful with there being a small amount of rooms they seem to be ble to focus on more

Be prepared to step back in time and yet be very comfortable in this 2br/1.5ba "kitchen house" built in 1785. The owners are extremely helpful, polite and friendly in keeping with Southern tradition and charm deep in one of the nicest neighborhoods in the old city of Charleston. Located just a short stroll from Broad St the location is perfect for walks with lots of dining options within minutes...
Great location, beautiful historic house and very sweet, helpful owners. The one bedroom cottage was cozy and the surrounding, private garden was lovely. We had a very quiet and relaxing stay! I would definitely stay again!
Great location and historical feel. Needs a few upgrades. Not the Ritz, but a great nest if you want to feel part of old Charleston during your visit.
We loved our stay here! Amazing location. Charming historic cottage! The Middletons are very gracious hosts. Definitely recommend.
Great little cottage in the centre of Charleston, excellent restaurants within walking distance. Bonus, off street parking,
The houses were very quaint and beautiful in a very quiet and historic part of Charleston. I didn't stay but met the daughter of the couple that owns it on a tour she was giving. And if her tour was any indication this is the best b&b in the South East!

The location was ideal. We love to walk and it was close to all the things we love: the waterfront, the historical area, excellent dining (be sure to reserve in advance!), and fantastic shopping. Who could ask for more?
We were impressed before we even arrived at the Governor's House Inn. We called on more than one occasion after making our reservations in order to ask opinions about local restaurants, places to see, etc. We spoke with Karen and Kimberly on more than one occasion and they were invaluable in helping us plan our stay in Charleston. We arrived after hours, but we had a check-in video sent to us which...
The Governor's Inn is truly an amazing place to stay. Although I spent a little more than I usually spend on a room, I will say the Governor's Inn was worth every penny! The property is beautiful and the decor was very quaint. The room was well appointed and had everything we needed. The location was fantastic and I was very surprised how quiet it was. We stayed at the St. Michael's room which had...
Our stay at the Governor's House was an unforgettable experience that we will cherish! The staff is so attentive and pleasant! They even made dinner reservations for us during our stay. The house has lots of historical memorabilia and you are allowed to walk through the house and browse at your leisure. The location is very close to everything that a tourist would want to experience.
My wife and I stayed in the Orange Grove Suite for our 6 year anniversary for almost a week. We cannot recommend enough for anyone visiting the historic downtown area. - great location with easy car access and parking - historic property that is comfortable and well maintained. - great service - wonderful room and comfortable beds - quiet - in the middle of everything but low key and relaxing. Thanks...
A splendid and historic Inn. The suites were impeccably clean, well appointed with classic and comfortable furniture. The beds were comfortable, too. The owners were on property and took the family on a guided tour. They were very knowledgeable about the history of the home and Charleston. Enjoyed our stay! Comfortable, beautiful, clean rooms. The concierge was very helpful! The only thing that would make it better is an elevator.
A wonderfully kept old home that's become an Inn. The accommodations were excellent, gracious and comfortable The concierge Margo made our visit special with her great personality and the information she gave us about the history of the house and places to eat. They served us a most excellent breakfast in our room. I will stay there whenever I go to Charleston.
Beautiful interiors ! warm southern hospitality / afternoon tea in the ballroom and breakfast delivered to your room :)
A quick stay over Thanksgiving, the Rutledge House Inn has been a wonderful experience. The staff are exceptional and friendly and the amenities for being a B&B are plentiful, from delicious breakfast to afternoon tea. We stayed in the Carriage House building. The room is well sized and equipped. The beds, which are memory foam, are comfortable. There were plenty of outlets to plug in devices to charge...
Great location, Southern hospitality, friendly guests. Everything was perfect and, as a history buff, it was amazing to stay in a house that hosted and was home to such important people!
When I stayed here a few years ago, the great service we received was very impressive, me so I thought I should finally give them a Google review. We had actually booked a room in the old stable house but because they had a cancellation they upgraded us for free to the John Rutledge room. That was spectacular. This was an adorable hotel with great service. The room was fairly small, but comfortable and the bed was nice as well. There was something a bit off about the television. It wouldnt display properly, so, there was a line across the screen. I was staying here for a conference and the other attendees at the same conference had the same complaint.
Great hotel. They treat you like royalty here. I'm spoiled forever. Absolutely lovely accommodations. Service is amazing!
A beautiful hotel.. very historic. Very friendly staff.. clean.. perfect service.. right in the middle of the fun city.. walking distance to everything.. I can't say enough good things.
Every person employed here during our stay were pleasant and helpful. Gaston our bellman, went above and beyond for us. He also retrieved ice for us so we could enjoy a cold drink. The Decor needs update, room is large and comfortable.
The hotel was phenomenal. The staff at the hotel were extremely accommodating. My wife and I are expecting twin girls, and the staff was very accommodating with a room that had a refrigerator. The management staff also allowed us to leave the hotel early (due to the bad snow storm) without a penalty. Will go back in the near future to hopefully not get our trip cut short by mother nature! Thank you...
Just got back from three wonderful nights at the Mill House Grand..and "Grand" it is...we used one day to drive into Savannah and back because of the short distance. It was nice to have a valet park your car after a long day of sightseeing.. Every thing was perfect. We had an amazing stay! We checked in with Larry, who was so accommodating and friendly!! Honestly, he gave us the best customer service! The inn is old, so you should expect that, we thought it was charming and we loved our room. It was towards the back... I saw other reviews about noise and humid rooms... I think the noise level was normal and to be expected with the location, and our room was nice...
We enjoyed our stay at The Elliott House. The location cannot be beat — centrally located in Charleston’s French quarter, within walking distance to every attraction as well as top restaurants. The parking garage across the street is convenient, and reasonably priced ($20 per day). We stayed in a king bed room on the ground floor. The room was immaculately clean, spacious and updated. Our bed and pillows...
It was our honeymoon. So, we had this place booked for our night in Charleston a while in advance. We were notified of an “upgrade” at check-in, but our room was a bit dark and down a hallway we shared with only a service area very close to courtyard. Noise was an issue unfortunately as a result of equipment running as well as just a feeling of a lack of privacy. We also got to hear the individual...
Good location. Public parking only in a garage, but is convenient across the street. Walls and ceiling are thin and people walking around above us kept us awake half the night. When we finally did get to sleep, the paper blinds (yes, paper... Folded accordian style) fell off the back door, sliding down the door and startled us awake again. Nothing special about the hotel, but certainly nowhere near...
Fantastic stay at the Elliott House Inn! Newly updated rooms, great customer service, and wonderful location. Complimentary breakfast delivered to the room, as well as nightly wine and cheese in the courtyard are great touches that elevate this B&B above local hotels.
Great location! Love the amenities and courtyard. Free bikes and wine/cheese reception. Rooms aren't anything special, but are perfect for what we needed. They aren't super clean. Our breakfast sat outside the entire weekend with ants crawling all over it. All I can say is "location, location, location!"

Clean rooms, beautiful view. The pool is nice and the front desk has been helpful. Only compliant is that we were provided a crib with no bedding, just the plastic-y mattress. Housekeeping gave us a regular fitted sheet to use.
This hotel is right across the bridge from downtown charleston and is near the road that leads to Folly beach. It is also located right next to the restaurant and bar, California Dreaming. As for the hotel there were a bunch of people in the lobby both times and the pool was pretty busy on a Monday afternoon but everything else was great. There is a water fountain specifically for refilling bottles...
My stars are based mostly on their dog friendliness. The breakfast bar was actually fairly nice but the facility itself, speaking mainly for the separate building, was a little lacking. I love this place! I'm only 10 minutes from everything on King st. and closer to the beach. The hotel is pet friendly and everyone brings them. They also have a good hot breakfast
Wonderful accommodations! The beds are extremely comfortable and the breakfast is great! Also, the staff is accommodating, friendly, and eager to assist in any matters. Lastly, very clean establishment!
Very clean. Staff is awesone, very friendly and accommodating. Perfect location for park and shuttle for cruise. Will definitely stay again and highly recommend.
INCOMPETENT/DISHONEST, CONFRONTATIONAL STAFF & MANAGEMENT My arrival was delayed by a car rental company screw up. The bed and breakfast has a great location for this weekend get away. Close walking distance to everything and we didn’t have to use our vehicle at all. Donna was so efficient with making sure we had directions on arrival, the stay, and booking our dinner plans nightly, and helping to unload and load once leaving. The Master Suite was very accommodating and made the stay for our dog very inviting too...
This place was fantastic for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary. Donna is a fantastic host, full of fantastic suggestions for things to do and places to eat. Breakfast was delicious every day (can't say enough about the coffee), and the atmosphere eating in the veranda is...
The rooms were beautiful, very comfortable, and very clean. The host Donna was an absolute gem, she was one of the kindest people I've met. There is a lot of great things to say about this B&B. This place is a gem! Great walking distance to everything in Charleston's French Quarter, delicious breakfast options, and a clean, comfy and quiet room. The best part of the stay was the manager Donna. She was one of the nicest people we've ever met and gave us plenty of recommendations and insights about the area.
We stayed for 2 nights in the State Room. The room is nice but very noisy. There is no insulation between the room and the street or the room and the courtyard, so you hear everything going on. The TV is too small for the room but it works and has all the cable channels you'd expect. The WiFi was disappointing. I did not stay here but was walking by and ventured in to check out the artwork. At first we did not realize it was a hotel, lots of great unique pieces on display. Myself, my aunt and my two teenage daughters all enjoyed looking around. Thank you for displaying some amazing artwork.
We came down for one night to celebrate our Christmas together. The hotel was pristine, adorable, fancy, and decorated beautifully for Christmas. The mixture of art with decor was so much fun. This hotel is not what it used to be. If looking for a historic establishment with a nod to Charleston’s history, this is not your place. Pretty nice. As a local I just used it as a one day get away from daily life. If I was visiting I'd try and stay a little closer to downtown. This hotel is definitely not in walking distance to any of our beloved historic downtown Charleston.
I have stayed in a lot of hotels , this was a great stay. Donna ( i think that was her name ) WAS THE HAPPIEST PERSON I HAVE EVER MET. The room was clean and the Furnishings were nice. Beds were comfortable, kitchen cabinets were full of any dish glass pot or pan you might need, but there was simply no food in them! Hahaha. Quick check in quick check out we were very happy.
We stayed in this hotel for a hockey tournament and was very pleased. The kitchen area was very nice and had all we needed to prepare meals. The room was a nice size and clean.
Within 6 minutes of downtown Charleston and quite easy to get to. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. This hotel does allow pets on one side of the hotel. We stayed here this past weekend for our 5th wedding anniversary getaway from Chesapeake, Va. The hotel was in the heart of downtown Charleston in a historic building. It has a lot of charm to it. The staff was excellent from the time we arrived till we left. It was pretty populated while we visited. We did get to venture out to other local spots. Our room was perfect with an added bonus of a fireplace...
I love that the Inn is historic and right in the heart of downtown. You can easily walk everywhere. The rooms have historic value to them with exposed brick and pine wood floors. Service is always great.
I went for a presentation. The staff were courteous.the location was clean and the serve coffee and tea complimentary

Very nice staff. Conveniently located to everything downtown by walking. Rooms quaint and charming but clean. Free breakfast and wine and cheese served daily. Definitely recommend!
Beautiful historic hotel. The night we arrived we had meeting time in the lobby with wine and cheese and a wonderful breakfast in the morning. Great start to our honeymoon! Love all the old decor
The front desk agents were not friendly at all. We booked the room for two days but they did the check in for only one day, did not ask for a contact phone and next day they were looking for us to see why we do not check out. The place can use a little paint... in our room the ceiling was peeling. On the positive side we liked the atmosphere, good continental breakfast. Five star for the rest of the...
What a wonderful quaint place. Darren (inn employee) was a wonderful part of the experience. Always happy and enriching guests experiences. We will be back. Thanks Darren! Wonderful ambience can only imagine how wonderful it must be when Charleston is not plagued with historic snow and ice!
This hotel was a nice break from the touristy hustle and bustle right outside its doors. This isn't a 5-star luxury hotel, but the rooms are clean and comfortable and have a certain old school charm to them. We appreciated both the well-kept garden and the oversized hot tub, and were surprised that we seemed to be the only guests to take advantage of them. The hotel is located right in the middle of...

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the lobby is quirky but lovely, the room was well designed, quiet, clean, and very comfortable. The breakfast was limited but tasty and healthy, the hotel is steps away from some excellent restaurants and is in the lovely historic area of Charleston. There is also a good valet parking service.
