Had a three day getaway in Charleston and couldn’t have stayed in a better location. Steps away from the best shopping and restaurants in Charleston. Valet the car and never needed it again. Very high end feeling and the staff were so friendly and down to earth. The restaurant on sight was exceptional. If you want the perfect location to everything in Charleston this is the place for you.. felt like I was staying in the White House so historic and comfortable.. a boutique hotel easily in and out .. highly recommend this lovely place..!

I had an exceptional experience at The Planter Inn! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The standout feature of my stay was undoubtedly the staff and the General Manager. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with genuine warmth and professionalism. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was perfect, providing helpful recommendations and attending to every detail with a smile.

From start to finish, our experience at Planters Inn was exceptional, thanks to their outstanding communication and hospitality. We arrived early for a wedding and were thrilled that the staff accommodated us with an early check-in, allowing us plenty of time to prepare for the event. Claire warmly welcomed us upon arrival, making the check-in process smooth and effortless. Additionally, Cloe was incredibly helpful with the valet service, ensuring our vehicle was taken care of promptly.
The property itself is simply stunning, a perfect blend of charm and elegance. Every detail, from the beautifully maintained grounds to the cozy, well-appointed rooms, added to the overall experience. We loved everything about our stay at Planters Inn. A central location within walking distance to anything and everything you want to experience in downtown Charleston. Our room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The service from the time you drive up until the time you leave is absolutely 5 star with every staff member we encountered. The best part for us was dining at their Peninsula Grill. Most hotel restaurants leave a lot to be desired, however this was an absolute exception! Be warned, the 12 layer coconut cake is one of the best desserts ever. We took ours up to our room and enjoyed it overlooking the peaceful courtyard. We look forward to returning very soon.

We were excited to stay here but the service was a big disappointment. I’m not sure why google lists this property as a 5 star hotel but it is far from being considered 5 star. We stayed in Governors Suite which was very nice and clean. The service was awful from everyone except the young valet/bell employees during day shift. At night, we came back from a dinner cruise and waited in the lobby for quite a while and no one was around. We had to park at a garage 3 blocks away while they still charged me for valet parking. We stay at mostly true “5 star” properties and this isn’t it. Customer service should be much better as well as awareness. We drive a 140k vehicle on our vacations and want it taken care of and they did not provide their service for it. They double charged my card for the stay so they can “get a count of the guests staying” and said it’ll be refunded in 7-10 days (still unacceptable, no reason to charge twice). I’ve never heard of that before especially at many other high end hotels . However the peninsula grill (restaurant at hotel) was excellent with great service. Again, the room itself was cozy but it’s sad to see how poor the service was.

Such an amazing and historic hotel! From the valet (Mike and Nick) and the Front Desk (Banks) to the restaurant (Pamela) and bar (Corey), the entire staff was warm, friendly, and extremely helpful. The room was big and cozy, and the shower had excellent water pressure. I can’t recommend this place enough. Hands down, it’s the best hotel in Charleston!

It’s been many years since we stayed here and this visit didn’t disappoint. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. It’s a great location within walking distance of several restaurants aside from Peninsula Grill, which was also wonderful. Thank you for taking care of us!

Hour 72: toilet is broken and won’t flush - checking out - stay somewhere else, trust me… this is not a 5 star hotel.
Now 48 hours: still no housekeeping
We are 24 hours into our stay and more has gone wrong than right. Im giving 2 stars because the room is nice (albeit noisy) and the staff are also friendly. Aside from that- this is definitely not a 5 star establishment. Yesterday after check-in we were taking a nap and someone attempted to walk into our room. We had the chain across so they couldn’t obviously- but I then found out it was a staff member “checking the rooms” because apparently whoever checked us in did it improperly and they didn’t know we were in there. Fast forward to shower time and we had one pair of slippers and no robe, so had to call down for that. Today I had to ask 3 times for our room to be cleaned (it’s now 7pm and hasn’t been touched) and most recently when I asked he said he could send up towels. I don’t want towels, I want a clean room. Im not sure what’s going on here but none of these issues should ever occur at a hotel that considers themselves of such high caliber. Hoping the next few days are smoother but as of now this was an extremely expensive disappointment of a stay.
