No detail is spared. Everyone is friendly and says hello. The room was 2x the size we expected and no amenities were spared. In room Cokes, water, sparkling water, La Colombe coffee and snacks are included with your stay! Bathroom was perfect. The mattress, sheets and pillows; all glorious. When we looked for hotels, The Spectator was a slight premium to others. Maybe 10%? Worth every penny. Don't stay anywhere else.

We had a fantastic experience staying at the Spectator Hotel. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable. We loved the gold chocolate nuggets to enjoy as you enter. The service is top of the line- every staff member was extremely kind and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the food was delicious. All of the special touches- snacks, drinks, turn down service, breakfast, etc made for a wonderful stay!

My husband and I have visited Spectator every time we visit Charleston. This past trip is our 5th time staying there. We love the level of service and warmth from the front desk, butlers (shout out to David, and Jim) and of course everything that Alan creates at the bar. The location is also amazing because it allows you to walk to everything. Carlo the manager, took care of us before and during our stay with making sure everything was perfect with our room. This hotel is perfect for couples and a business trip. It’s cozy, quiet, and they pay attention to every detail. Another bonus is breakfast to your room every morning. This is perfect because it’s just the right amount of food to start your day of touring. You can choose what timeframe you want it delivered which is great. Nothing but wonderful things to say. We will be back again next year!

This was one of the best stays I’ve ever had, if not the best. They made my wife’s stay very special for her birthday! The staff was very warm and welcoming and made it as special with the requests I made and also went above and beyond that! Shout out Jim and David, thank you! Also the bar was phenomenal, I had one of the best drinks I’ve had in a while, it tasted just like fruity pebbles-so good! Will definitely be back!

The spectator hotel should be called “the Spectacular” the facilities are exceptional, the staff makes people feel like good friends and we always leave, with a warm, satisfied feeling. We make “the Spectator” a stop on our semi annual trip, to and from Florida to North Carolina.

The Spectator Hotel in Charleston is well located and everything is in walking distance. Staff are very friendly throughout the hotel. The bar is very nice and cocktails enjoyable. The breakfast is good and we had it in the bar as opposed to the bedroom. Parking a bit pricy to be honest but otherwise all good. Recommended.

This boutique hotel with complimentary breakfast and butler service really delivers a high end experience. The rooms and bathrooms are immaculate and stunning. Having complimentary snacks in the room was perfect. My husband and I ordered drinks up to the room and they arrived within 10 minutes. This hotel is also located right in the middle of everything. Whether you want to eat, walk the market, or shop; you are within walking distance to it all. We asked the butler to book my family a private carriage ride and he did right away at the time we specified. This hotel is more than worth it.

We've stayed at The Spectator Hotel in Charleston several times before. I am happy to report that it is just as wonderful as ever. The level of personal service is extremely high. The Spectator sets a standard that is unmatched in our experience (and we've stayed at some pretty nice hotels including a half dozen Ritz Carltons, and a couple of Four Seasons properties). My wife was celebrating a milestone birthday last week. The concierge desk was wonderful about arranging for some balloons to be presented to her when we checked in. We requested a room with a view, and Room 305 had a wonderful view of the Ravenel Bridge and Charleston rooftops. My wife got a warm note from our butler as well as a nice bottle of sparkling wine and a delicious hazelnut cake. When we couldn't finish the bottle on the first night, our butler thoughtfully brought us another rather than let us drink flat sparkling water! The valet was considerate and always cheerful. A front desk attendant went the extra mile to make sure I found the entrance to the gym at the sister property next door. A butler that helped us two years ago remembered our names and wished my wife a happy birthday. The general manager was happy to take my call to discuss details to make my wife's birthday extra special. I asked our butler to polish a pair of shoes and steam a shirt that had gotten wrinkled on the long drive down. He ironed both shirts I had packed and polished and returned my shoes within an hour so that I would have them available for dinner that evening. The hotel represents an exceptional value. While it is not cheap, The Spectator give its customers a lot for their money. In addition to the butler services, the complimentary drinks and refreshments were very welcome. Breakfast served in the room (or the lobby bar) is also included. High quality toiletries are generously provided. Bikes are also available (but we didn't use them during our stay). We loved the fact that the hotel still provides stationary (which came in handy). The butler will cheerfully deliver coffee or tea on request at any time of day. The Spectator has avoided the temptation to quote a room rate and then tack on a "resort fee". When a restaurant we visited (Pier 101 at Folly Beach) tacked on a "technology fee" at lunch, I was again reminded of how much I appreciate the Spectator's straightforward pricing. The location is excellent. The State Street address is just a stone's throw away from St. Phillips, Queen Street , Lower King and the pineapple fountain and swings at the end of Vendue Range. We seldom use our car unless we are visiting family or friends off the Peninsula. I should note that the hotel is close to the Market. While it was absolutely quiet at night during our stay, it is possible that it could be noisier in high season. The Spectator staff makes us feel appreciated, and, though the term is overused, treats us like family. It is an exceedingly comfortable place to stay.

I’m literally sitting in the bed here now and have had such a wonderful experience that I felt necessary to write my review while I’m still in the luxury moment that The Spectator provides.
Where to even start: the valet service is always quick and helpful. When you see where this hotel is, the valet makes all the sense why the fee. I promise it’s worth it.
Our butlers have been fantastic and so helpful.
Will literally made me feel like a young kid again but surprising us with balloons and cakes for my husband and my birthday. Darryl is such a refreshing face to see in the am and throughout the day. He is so personable and such a cool cat. David provided such amazing lunch suggestions. 2/2 suggestions were amazing.
Wade, the concierge, provided such a personable touch to figure out what my husband and I enjoy and suggested places to go that aren’t your normal “rainbow row, battery, etc.”
The bar makes some of the best drinks my husband has had to date and the prices are totally reasonable for the quality.
The breakfasts were always on time and tasty, but I would say some variety throughout the week would make it even that much better.
The rooms are spacious enough I don’t feel claustrophobic but quaint enough that I don’t feel like there’s too much space. I’d certainly try the courtyard rooms next time we visit. Overall, this will be the hotel I come back to time and time again.
