I’m literally sitting in the bed here now and have had such a wonderful experience that I felt necessary to write my review while I’m still in the luxury moment that The Spectator provides.
Where to even start: the valet service is always quick and helpful. When you see where this hotel is, the valet makes all the sense why the fee. I promise it’s worth it.
Our butlers have been fantastic and so helpful.
Will literally made me feel like a young kid again but surprising us with balloons and cakes for my husband and my birthday. Darryl is such a refreshing face to see in the am and throughout the day. He is so personable and such a cool cat. David provided such amazing lunch suggestions. 2/2 suggestions were amazing.
Wade, the concierge, provided such a personable touch to figure out what my husband and I enjoy and suggested places to go that aren’t your normal “rainbow row, battery, etc.”
The bar makes some of the best drinks my husband has had to date and the prices are totally reasonable for the quality.
The breakfasts were always on time and tasty, but I would say some variety throughout the week would make it even that much better.
The rooms are spacious enough I don’t feel claustrophobic but quaint enough that I don’t feel like there’s too much space. I’d certainly try the courtyard rooms next time we visit. Overall, this will be the hotel I come back to time and time again.

If you are even hesitating for a second about booking this hotel..I can assure you it will be the BEST decision you ever make to stay at The Spectator! I can go on for hours talking about how amazing my fiancé and I’s experience was this past weekend. Just to name a few..Melissa, Wade, Will, Jesus, Scott, and the whole rest of the staff were some of the greatest people we’ve ever met. They all went above and beyond making our stay something we will never forget. From being greeted by name every time we walked in the lobby or when they came to our room, to the personalized butler experience, valet, the bar drinks and food were amazing, the chocolate liquor dessert left in our room every night along with other little surprises..especially the Sangria welcome drinks we were given upon arrival were so so delicious!! The room was so inviting, clean, classy and beautiful, we loved the jazz music playing in the room when we walked in, the heated towels in the bathroom, the robes..I can go on and on. I think our favorite part was the room key, we’ve never seen anything so cool, it was a leather key fob, with gold hardware and a golden key!! It was also conveniently located right in the middle of Downtown Charleston, walking distance to everything! We just felt so special the whole weekend and we are already planning another trip back to Charleston just so we can stay at The Spectator again!! Love Love Love!! Exceptional & Unforgettable Stay!

My husband and I stayed there last week for our anniversary! A wonderful experience, staff was Amazing , especially Will! He gave us ideas of places to visit while we there. The rooms were quiet and peaceful and over the top service to others. Thank you for the hospitality and genuine kindness! We will definitely be back💜

This was our first visit to Charleston, and we selected the Spectator Hotel. The hotel does not have a pool or restaurant on site, but they make up for it with butler service, continental breakfast options, and daily turndown service. We really enjoyed our stay here. The welcome cocktail was amazing. The nightcap every night was a surprise I found myself looking forward to. The bed was extra comfy. And the bar area is classy. I highly recommend it if you want to relax and be catered to a bit. It is also conveniently located near the market shops and plenty of dining options.

My wife and I are Marriott loyalists and still are but her coworker told her she had to try The Spectator Hotel in Charleston when she traveled there for work and I tagged along.
WOW!!!!!! Amazing vibe and service. They provide you with a Butler who can provide a plethora of services and adds a nice touch.
Breakfast is included and they bring it to your room in the morning or you can eat in the lounge.
The theme is 1920's and Jazz. They have a really cool bar where they make craft and authentic cocktails.
As I mentioned, I love Marriott and am platinum for life, but when I go to Charleston again I am staying at The Spectator.

Definitely worth the money!!!!!! The room is comfortable and the staff is very friendly. Everything they have is free, including drinks in the mini fridge and snacks, which is pretty convenient. Butler Alexander is the best! He doesn't talk to us for even 15 minutes about what we need to do and where to go. They offer free bikes so you can tour the city by bike. There is no place to park, but valet parking is available for $34 a day.

Excellent hotel. The butler service is excellent and we didn't even partake in most of what they offered. But what sets them apart are the little things you don't even ask for. For example, my wife and I mentioned to the butler that we had an early break and had to leave at 7am. The included breakfast was early for us and the person who delivered it said I'll get your car at 7 so you guys can hit the road. He wasn't our butler. So the conversation goes smoothly and we don't ask, everything is taken care of for us. It's raining outside? Umbrellas appear at the doors. Flash flood? Towels are available right at the entrance. Don't ask, people just anticipate your needs. I will note one drawback that is not the hotels fault, but is worth mentioning. The construction in the neighborhood is really bad. A garbage truck empties the trash can at 5 a.m. every day, and construction begins at 7 a.m. every day. Just look at the attached image to see how big of a project is happening right outside your window. Don't expect a romantic dream in the script. Again, this is not the hotels fault, but if you are spending a lot of money, this may be a deal breaker for you until it is completed.

Fantastic hotel and holiday. The location is central to almost everything in Charleston. Everyone is so friendly and detailed. The daily breakfast was delicious and the butlers were always available to accommodate your needs. We remained facing the historical market, so we had no experience in building a new hotel. Take advantage of the concierge services!! Whether by email or phone, you won't be disappointed.
