I had an amazing stay there. Everyone were super polite and friendly.
Our room had beautiful furniture and bed which gave me Moroccan / Beach vibe.
They have 2 restaurants one right next to the hotel and one on the rooftop which is great if you feel lazy to leave the hotel and looking for drinks and high quality food. Also, there are several fast foods and late nights snacks in there neighborhood if you are and late night snacker like me😁
They have a very cute pool and bar. I can’t wait to come back here in summer.

Very professional staff, they helped accommodate my early checkin and overall a very smooth process with sick views of Brooklyn. Loved it!

My parents were staying here for a wedding this past weekend and though I was nervous for them after reading the recent bad reviews, we were optimistic that they may have a better experience. They did not. They Asked for a refrigerator in their room upon arrival as it was noticeably missing. This was dismissed by the manager because they are a “luxury hotel” and can cater to them, but found out on their last day after the cleaning staff noticed that the ice they had to use keep their snacks and drinks fresh was melting everywhere, that they actually DO have refrigerators they offer to guests if they ask. Not sure why my parents were not extended this offer. In addition, I was excited to use the pool but found out you still have to pay $80 for a chair as a guest. If you don’t you are confined to the benches. Begrudgingly paid the expense for the chair only to have the pool shut down at 6pm on a 90+ degree day. In case you didn’t know, the sun doesn’t set until after 8pm this time of year so I found it a bit odd. I checked out the roof the first night too, the food was just ok and the drinks both on the roof and at the pool cost nearly $30 a glass. The view from the roof was also not impressive, but the ambiance was nice and the DJ they had was good. The room they stayed in also doesn’t qualify as luxury, in my opinion. It seems they make most of their money off the pool and rooftop, which could explain the subpar service to the hotel guests. I would recommend to anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere.

We chose this hotel over others based on the location, pictures on the website, amenities (pool and rooftop restaurant). The website is incredibly misleading. The room looked nothing like the photos, there was pink mold in the bathroom and the TV didn’t work. There was seemingly only one staff person at a time- not even at a proper hotel front desk. The lobby had a bunch of random broken furniture in it- lamps and bedside tables and stuff. No one answered the phone when we called down to ask questions. The best way to describe this place is like a hostel. For $250/night we were shocked at what it turned out to be. Please change your website to reflect what this actually is! We ended up asking for a refund and getting a room at The Box House and that place is wonderful. The manager at McCarren did refund our money, and the college kids running the place did seem to be doing their best... but.... yikes. I am so glad we got out of there quick.

I absolutely love coming to this pool! The vibe is amazing—there's always great music playing and the pool temp is always perfect. Each time I've been here, the staff has been warm, welcoming, and accommodating, and the drinks are incredible (love their Paloma in particular!). The day beds are super comfy and relaxing, but even GA seating is great if you plan to be in the pool. Highly recommend this for locals and visitors—I'd go every weekend if I could!

My friends and I got a cabana for the day at the pool. First of all, the manager was incredible - he’s so pleasant, welcoming and accommodating and his staff are no less than that. We had a group of 8 girls, the cabana was super spacious, the drinks and food were amazing. The liquor quality is top notch. The crowd, music and vibes were all on point. Also, this place is very clean, the pool, the beds, the bathrooms - everything is maintained well and doesn’t worry you about cleanliness, especially during this time! I couldn’t recommend this spot enough, it felt like an escape from the city and was such a fun way to spend a summer day. Definitely will be returning for more great times!

Definitely Not a 4 Star Experience by a long shot. Some context: I just worked 7 days straight and decided to find a relaxing poolside spot to unwind. Get to the pool Sunday, super quiet until a private kids birthday party showed up at the expense of hotel guests. Head to my room to try and take a nap, kids screaming at the pool so I can't. Had to leave for several hours. The next day, having a relaxing time by the pool, not for long! They are doing serious work on the floors in the lobby, plastic containment structure does not contain the harsh chemicals or dust and you can barely get to the pool. I went to lunch and came into the lobby to a cloud of dust and chemicals that gave me headache for 2 hours. I'm not a sensitive snowflake I don't get headaches, this was a terrible health code violation. If you have that serious a project going on shut the place down don't charge us for this mess. Back to the pool, super loud grinders working on the floor can barely hear, try and grab a towel and the construction worker dropped his vacuum on my foot, I told him this was still a hotel and not just a construction site. What a terrible place.

Great location but very basic room facilities. The bedrooms seemed to of been renovated but still remain untidy.

Customer service was generally good throughout the stay, however very disappointed that we had no prior warning of the rooftop bar being closed whilst we we're staying due to construction works.

Broken signage lighting to the entrance didn't give a great impression whilst arriving by car!!

Paid a premium and expected more.

Pros:
. Good location
. Swimming pool
. Comfy rooms and bathrooms
. Reasonable price

Cons:
. Bedroom floor was dirty during our entire stay
. Rooftop and bar downstairs seem abandoned
. Arranged lift back to the airport was a disaster - we were announced $45 but then charged $53 by the driver - driver also drove very unprofessionally and didn’t make us feel safe at all - I’d strongly advise the McCarren hotel to find another partner for this service

The customer service is above expectations. Every staff member I interacted with went above and beyond to provide excellent service! The hotel is undergoing renovation, which is exciting. The hotel is located in a wonderful area with many restaurants close by. Just a couple of suggestions as you work through the renovation. Impossible to connect to internet from guest rooms. Cell signal very low from guest rooms. The new marble showers are lovely, but become very slick and dangerous when you apply soap to feet. Best of luck with the renovation!
