Found this place on Hotel Tonight. Great location! Literally two steps away from the beach. It is a little small, but it is newly remodeled so it feels clean. Would highly recommend staying here.

Front desk staff were amazing!! Easy to work with and professional!! Location is awesome-within walking distance to the beach, and plenty of food/bar/entertainment spots. I don’t use parking, so I can’t comment on that. What I can comment is on the…aroma. My room stank of sewer. I dumped soap down the drains and closed the bathroom door to curb the worst of it. For the cost of over $300/night, I don’t want to smell sewage. I only stayed one night.

Neither TV nor internet worked in one room. In both rooms we booked the carpet was dirty. In both rooms the Sliding Doors leading to bathrooms needed a good scrubbing. Only plus was the bed was comfortable. For the price, this was a big ripoff.

The location was great. Walking distance to just about anywhere.
The staff was great.
The carpet was very dirty with stains, the shower handle was loose and falling off, there was a desk with no chair. The countertop for the sink was being held up with 2 poles and a makeshift unfinished cabinet with no doors. There were roaches climbing the walls. I really hate bugs and I was afraid of bringing some back home in my luggage. We had to make sure and shake everything before packing up to leave. Terrible experience especially for the price. I don’t usually leave reviews, especially bad ones but I want people to know what our experience was. UNFORTUNATELY MORE BAD than GOOD.

The location is great. Staying at PB Surf, you’re right off the beach with tons of awesome options for food and drink.
The room itself smelled pretty bad, but it was nothing compared to the bathroom. There was a smell from that shower drain, the likes of which I’ve never experienced. It was like a medley of burnt hair and human waste. This alone will keep me from ever returning.
I didn’t see any roaches or other bugs, as noted in other reviews. Maybe they left over the smell.

We stayed here three years ago and at that time found it to be quite basic but nonetheless clean and comfortable. In the three years since we last visited, it has significantly deteriorated. The exterior of the inn is dingy and dirty. There appears to be no attention payed to keeping the exterior clean. The interior of the rooms has not aged well. The interior is dirty and dingy, and needs a good cleaning. There are no amenities to speak of. The bedding had stains and rips in it. You have to ask daily if you want your room to be serviced. There is also not a hotel phone in the room, and you have to make this call from your own cellphone. There is an odd sulfuric smell coming from the shower so that when anyone bathes, it smells like someone is getting a perm. This is a lot to deal with for a place that is near 400 dollars a night to stay in. The one plus is that it is very close to the beach and in a nice quiet area of pacific beach. All in all, a big disappointment, and not a comfortable stay.

Want better than expected. Rooms were nice and clean. Great location to the beach. Staff was friendly enough. Down side, there is no pool on site. It's at their sister hotel a block a way. Not a big deal, but would have e been nice to know. But the pool was nice.

The staff was great and very helpful. The rooms are fine, but nothing special. The location is perfect. Right on the beach and only a block from great nightlife, food, drinks etc.

Great place to stay! Right by the beach, easy to walk to restaurants in the area, updated beach rooms that were very clean. Overall great experience!

Not a bad place but not the best place... We woke up to pounding on a door of a unit about 1:30am. Thugs just hanging out smoking weed and not all that secure. Security gates just left open or broken. The furniture in the room was torn and old. I get it you get what you pay for but still the rooms could’ve been better taken care of. There was loud rap music playing out of a window and nobody was in the room It was just left going. Parking is horrible.
The foot wash station didn’t work to wash the sand off your feet after coming back from the beach and in the courtyard there was a few random mattresses just laid up against what looks to be like the maintenance doorway area clearly visible.
