Holiday Inn Express - Historic District, an IHG Hotel

Stayed 2 nights with an eyewatering rate of $300 each. Taxes are outrageous. While the location is great, the experience is not. The valet idea is annoying, it's a tight space to begin with. I was able to get a special badge so I could park and retrieve my car myself as I literally despise valet in general. Nick was very helpful. The rooms need to be renovated, carpets are old and smelly. Use laminate flooring! The breakfast spread is pretty good, the ladies keep everything very clean. Pancake machine is awesome! The city is crowded with tourists, weddings everywhere. Surprised that many areas are not very clean in town, kind of grungy. No recycling in the hotel.

The fact that a gentleman came out right away and asked to valet park us made us feel quite important, but things changed once we got into the hotel. The front desk attendant must have been having a rough day because she was not having the fact that I booked a room that she didn't have. She did end up putting us in a room that had a pull out couch, so that all four of us, two adults and two children, did not have to all sleep in the same bed, but she didn't seem very happy to do it. She seemed to treat me unkindly from the moment she found out we booked through a booking site.

There were no linens for the make shift couch bed, and when I called for linens, they just brought sheets and a comforter. I had to call again and request for pillows.

This is also a side note... if you have a room with a direct view to the street and street lamps, please allow the inside curtains to be shut, instead of decorative. That way, your customers are able to sleep without blinders.

All in all, I rarely fuss with hotels because I know I'm just staying in a hotel, but we wanted a view and the luxury of staying in historic Savannah, and paid real money to stay there, and we expected to be treated even slightly as such.
