West End DC, Tapestry Collection by Hilton Mini-hotel

Tapestry collection includes independent hotels that are supposed to be “upper upscale” per Hilton. This property is not quite pulling off a boutique hotel or upscale vibe. We had a hard time finding it because it has too many names. Tapestry? Hilton? West End? Georgetown Inn (this popped up in map app as we drove up and down the street). Lobby was unmanned, but was clean and decent. Staff friendly. No parking, so you can park at the Ritz for $40/day. Room was spacious and clean (bathroom small and lacks counter space though). Windows are old and thin, and you can hear every noise from the street as many other reviews mentioned. Rum bar in basement is a packed hot spot at night, and also the breakfast location in the morning. Breakfast was our biggest gripe. There is what looks like a self-serve buffet laid out, but instead you order a la carte off a paper checklist. We were so confused! Individual items are overpriced ($12 eggs, $10 fruit, $5 bagel). There are some breakfast sandwich options they bring from the back, probably microwaved but not too bad. We’d rather pay a flat fee and use it like a buffet. The best thing is the location which is near metro stations, GWU/Georgetown, and many restaurants. Overall mixed feelings, and I doubt we’ll stay here again.

A decent, average, reasonably-priced hotel in a good location with nice staff but limited on infrastructure and not equipped for business travelers. There is no parking on the premise, so the closest is underground parking at the Ritz Carlton (Lot 243 at 1150 22nd St. NW). Using the spothero website, you can get daily parking with in/out privilege for $36.93 for 24 hours. Hotel would not offer late check out for a Gold member; which tells me they are not staffed outside of normal working hours to handle any late check outs if they are close to being fully booked. Gold members get $18/day, which is more than enough to cover for breakfast as the most expensive item is $12. No gym. I think this would be suitable for tourists who want to walk around and take rideshare or the metro to/from places. If one had to wear a suit in hot and humid weather and had to walk to/from the offsite parking or the metro, I would not choose this hotel.

There was torrential rain during my visit, and your kind and courteous reception staff gave me a large umbrella to use which saved me from a certain soaking. Hugely grateful.
