Hotel Dodona

We were conned on two different occasions by this hotel and it's disgraceful owner. Firstly, when we arrived we were told they had no knowledge of our booking via Expedia even though I had a confirmation email of the dates and price from them. I had also emailed the hotel on several occasions asking certain questions to which they always replied. There was even one email that thanked us for our reservation which was done a full 10 months before arrival. They then told us they do have a room available which was a twin with double bed, a balcony and a sea view. Guess what.....exactly what we had already booked with them!
They then told us the price which worked out at 164€ more than the original agreed price!!! A complete orchestrated con!
Secondly, the next con was when we dined one evening and were given menus to choose our food. We ordered the same thing at 800 Lek only to go to the till later to be charged 1200 Lek. When I queried this price I was told the menu is wrong.
A list the type of issues we encountered: We had a pipe in the middle of our balcony which came through the wall from the balcony next door, there was mould all over the shower cubicle and tiling, the toilet roll holder was half hanging out of the wall, there was no lock on the balcony door and there was no safe in the room meaning literally anyone could get into the room and steal everything. The toilet stank of sewage with the maid putting bleach down it every day to try and cover up the smell, the lock on the toilet door was missing, only one of the two toilet flush buttons worked, the shower plug hole was full of hairs from previous guests, and the shower head was filthy and looked as if it had never ever been cleaned.
Elsewhere there were loose exposed wires hanging down from walls and ceiling in the corridors, and the wi-fi signal was lost on many occasions.
The pool suction holes on the inner walls had no caps on some of them meaning a child's hand or foot could easily be dragged into it. On one of the handlebar steps you use to get in and out of the pool, one side was completely missing meaning you had to pull yourself out of the pool, and where the other one should of been there was a gaping hole where again you could easily trap your toes. Also, there were always dead flies and insects floating on the top of the pool every morning and a large amount of dirt and sand floating around on it's bottom. I never once saw anyone clean the pool in the whole time we were there.
There are some very steep steps that lead down to the beach where lots of pieces of stone are missing or there are many cracks in them meaning you could easily trip and fall down a long way to the bottom, furthermore, there was also large pieces of the hand rails to the sides that were also missing. This could have catastrophic consequences to a child or elderly person trying to use them! At the bottom of the steps there is a litter bin that was overflowing onto the beach the day we got there and was still overflowing - considerably more - 5 days later when we left.
We were here on a B&B board but we wished we hadn't bothered. The breakfast is only for Albanian or Italian guests and not suitable for any other nationalities as it's not the sort of things we eat. Furthermore, we didn't want to either as there were never any coverings on the food and every morning it was swarming with flies and little insects walking all over it.
With the exception of a young lady who worked at breakfast time and spoke good English, the rest of the staff were rude, arrogant, obnoxious, miserable and refused to smile or greet you. The lady who ran the kitchen (possibly the owner's wife) even went one step further and always looked away when you made eye contact with her. There was one occasion when I tried to fill up my small flask with water from the water barrel in the bar area only to be told by the waiter that it was for staff only. However, I pointed out to him that I had seen numerous Albanian and Italian guests filling their bottles up without him saying anything to them.

I'll start by warning my fellow Europeans that never been in Albania, this is not a 4 star hotel. Me and my wife are on a 2 week tour around Albania and we choose this hotel to be a rest place and when we saw the 4 stat rating plus the photos on booking we thought this would turn out a great hotel.

The facilities are old, AC works but allows bugs to enter in the room and leak in the balcony. The beach front is true but the beach is terrible and it has dog poop everywhere. We didn't use the pool but it seemed ok. The 4 start hotel didn't serve dinner. The owner tried to force pay in cash instead using card (even though that's the norm in the majority of Albania we assumed the 4 start hotel would be better). It's real far from the center and the road to get there is full of holes and you don't have a shortcut to go without a car. So if you stay here you're forced to take your car to get dinner. The room is really old, the bathroom is old, the shower leaks, the chair in the balcony are terrible and uncomfortable. The breakfast is always the same and with little options. Don't get me wrong if.a night was around 20/25€ was a really good deal but paying 80€/night was super overpriced. I do not recommend this and if you book it don't expect a 4 start hotel service.

Very beautiful seen on the side where we were, the boss of the hotel unpleasant ( not answer when we said hello or once on 10 ) . At the time of the breakfast, a lady from the kitchen staff myself, and look up over my shoulder what I take ! ( very nice ) , fortunately the server and there young daughter of the home are smiling and polite . Pool great , beach is private to the top , clean room . Restaurant correct . A pity that the atmosphere was not there .

All good time of day! This hotel is not stopped , and stopped close by ,Villa Arditi. Since the beach we have one, I decided to go to the hotel to eat . Wanted to order mussels, but our waiter said that is not very good mussels here . OK, ordered a Greek salad and two soups , chicken and vegetable. The salad was of almost fully ripe tomato , cheese not really taste like chicken soup more or less, and the vegetable is almost cooked from thawed vegetables, so something like this . First reviewed this hotel so next time to stop here to save time on food( at our hotel ,Villa Arditi Breakfast only ), and now, as it already and do not want . In General the food here is 3 maximum .

Delicious food,ordered a salad -some green tomatoes...what to say if the waiter did not even recommend many of the dishes from the menu,not very fresh...
On Wifi password,and he squeezed,if not from the hotel,it is impossible to use it.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!DESPITE THE BEAUTIFUL VIEW,THE ATTITUDE OF THE PEOPLE ALWAYS PUT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
