Novotel Sydney Parramatta

The hotel was a bit run down, certainly needs a fresh coat of paint and some maintenance work. The cleanliness of the bed was a bit of a concern when there were other people's hair on the bed. The staff were helpful and efficient though.

Disappointed with the corporate suite we were assigned. Old room, dodgy floor electrical boxes, damp carpet smell, and a corporate boardroom table that was unusable. We requested a new room which was accommodated but no urgency was placed in moving us around. The hotel room itself was clean and ok, but again, showing its age. Breakfast was very ordinary, with a limited selection. We will be using a different facility moving forward for our corporate meetings.

Recently stayed at this hotel with my family for a couple of nights. Unfortunately, the customer service at the front desk during check in was poor. The room was ok, but it was the bathroom that had more issues. The shower walls had lots of hair follicles on them and the shower head itself was loose and dropped on my head as soon as I turned it on and water gushed into my eyes and after frantically trying to turn the shower off, I discovered that in addition to being extremely loose and swaying from side to side and down, the shower head also suffered from a serious leaking problem on one of its sides which had sent the water with very high pressure into my eyes. The only way to have a shower was to hold the shower head with one hand and wash yourself with the other. As we were there only for two nights and I had two young children travelling with us, I did not make a big deal out of it, but the interaction that I had with the host at the counter has compelled me to write this review. While we were checking out, again the host behind the counter displayed minimal customer service skills e.g no smile, greeting etc etc or asking us how our stay was. Once I checked out, I advised her of the issues we had in the form of feedback and to make her aware to fix the shower issue before the room was rented out to the next person. In response all I got was, " I will pass it on to our technician". No apology, no acknowledgement and just a very dry and dull display or lack of customer service.

Don’t be fooled by the Novotel branding. This is a budget motel.

The bathroom and the hallways look like they were inspired by a sad cruise ship from the 80s.

There was also a vent in the bathroom that whirred constantly (it’s not the aircon vent and the bathroom had no exhaust fan). There was also a hair stuck between two of the towels in the bathroom.

Housekeeping didn’t change the sheets, or get rid of the hair in the towels.

Would not recommend.
