Reviews
We have got one of the worst room in resort even though we booked it 5 months in advance.
The view from the room was awful.
The lady from the reception was more than rude and offered no option in addition to an superior smile "It is just your opinion that the room is bad".
The Bulgarian hospitality is different than the usual meaning. The staff is not trying to make people feel good but to argue and mock.
It was indeed an extremely unpleasant experience.
First, the accommodations were disappointing. We booked two rooms for three adults and two children, expecting proper beds for everyone. Instead, my daughters had to sleep on metal frame beds with mattresses barely 10 inches thick. The conditions of their beds were so poor that we had to let them sleep with us, as their beds felt like prison beds. I decided to overlook this to not ruin the holiday, but unfortunately, things only got worse.
The resort itself, Garden of Eden, is rated 4 stars, but the Paradise Hotel and its restaurant are rated just 1 star on TripAdvisor, which is far more accurate. The resort was beautiful, and we managed to enjoy two nice days before the nightmare began. My mum was the first to fall seriously ill, with symptoms including diarrhea, vomiting, and a high fever. Given that she’s a very picky eater, I initially didn’t think it was food-related. However, she rapidly deteriorated, and when I asked the reception for a medic, I was shocked to learn there was none on site. They said they could call a doctor, but it would take 20 minutes, and my mum would need to come downstairs for the consultation. My mum was too weak to move, but they refused to send the doctor to our room. No one seemed to care about her condition.
Soon after, I fell ill with the same symptoms, followed by my husband. I also developed a skin infection. Despite our obvious distress, no one from the hotel staff checked on us or offered any assistance. On the day we were due to leave, the hotel still made no effort to acknowledge what was happening, and continued serving food as if nothing was wrong. We overheard other guests in the lobby with the same symptoms, yet the hotel took no action.
Moreover, the hotel failed to maintain basic cleanliness. They claim to change the bedding every three days, but that never happened. When I asked the cleaning staff for fresh bed sheets, the woman acted offended, only relenting after I gave her money.
This was by far the worst experience I've ever had on a holiday. I paid for a 4-star experience but received a 1-star experience instead. The Paradise Hotel is rated 4 stars, but it’s the worst place I’ve ever stayed. If you’re considering staying here, I strongly urge you to check the reviews before booking. What we went through was unacceptable, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Staff are lovely and friendly here at the hotel although you will quickly find here in Bulgaria when you leave the complex as a British tourist the people are extremely rude and don’t have manners like we do, they come across rude and ignorant but that is with most people here so don’t take it personally and be mindful not to let it ruin your holiday as it is not personal it’s just how they are.
Overall I would recommend The Garden of Eden to all wanting a peaceful holiday if you have children you won’t be disappointed as so much for them to do and a safe hotel to take your loved ones.
So, this is the perfect place where you can spend some good-relaxing days at the sea-side.
The complex is gated and offers underground parking which is fantastic as once parked you have zero worry about the vehicle. In addition the complex offers transportation services to nearby towns for very reasonable prices.
What makes this spot excellent is the fact that it's self contained and vacationers don't even need to leave the premise.
There are 3 different restaurants (one right on the sea), poolside bars and cafes, a grocery store, hair and nail salon, a spa and many more that I do not quite remember. This set up is fairly unique in the country and marks this establishment as special by taking away the guess work.
This IS a family spot! Be prepared to hear cheerful children's noises along the pools (8+) which are extremely clean and truly built to accommodate all ages.
In addition and not to be underestimated is SAFETY! I felt comfortable allowing my older children to roam free in the gated premises and go from pool to pool or even the sea front alone (lts an accomplishment of I say so myself).
We will be back and I highly recommend the spot but few comments to management:
1. Please update the grounds map at reception to include phone number for all available amenities as opposed to me having to reach out to reception for transfer
2. Provide clear instructions on how to dial out from the rooms (it was a bit confusing)
3. The transportation services offered are outstanding but we encountered communication issues with reception which led to unnecessary waiting and confusion during pick up one of the evenings. Either have designated numbers for transportation or possibly implement an app for the guests to check their location and the drivers to have direct contact with the guest.
4. I am not sure if the beach is public or not but it is very beautiful. However, prices for umbrella and launge chairs is outrageous! It would be nice if access to them was included in the price of the stay or even weekly rate was established. $15/day is outrageous especially when people use them mostly in the morning.
5. We occupied two bedroom apartment and it was equipped with everything one would need for a week long stay away from home. However, the bathroom doors were out of their rails and or the curtains were not positioned properly so no matter what you do there was water leaking during shower which was quite a fall risk. The apartments are going to need some updates in the coming up years but over all good experience.
6. The cleaning staff was on time and respectful - thank you!
