Best Hotels in Essen

Very good. As usually in Germany you can find here all you need. Simple easy and fast. No special things but all usefull and in time. Yes, breckfast is good and reach, not kind of continental french, but real one.

Internet was good with strong signal in the parts of the hotel where I was. It seems to me the location of the Select hotel Handelshof is its main selling point. Not bad but not the best either

Best hotel in Essen! Very large room, super cool. The breakfast: awesome! With everything. Best part of the hotel was Jimmy's Bar! Jimmy and his crew was super nice and helped us to find the perfect drink for us

The Select Hotel Handelshof Essen is located in the heart of the Ruhr metropolis The hotel is only 200 m from Essen town hall and offers 198 modern and comfortably furnished rooms right in the city center 

The room was perfect in all sense. The staff at the reception was fantastic. The lunch buffet was very good. This is the only place I will be staying at, whenever I am in Essen.

The hotel is near "Old City" of Essen and is very clean. The services are very good and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are big enough, well organised and quiet.

It is a very good hotel, well located, efficient with service and very attentive to gests. Clean, comfortable with spacious and well equiped rooms. I loved staying there.

Nice clean rooms, rather spacey, beds tend to slide apart. Very friendly welcome at the reception desk Breakfast was good quality but would expect a wider variety for the price. Parking is rather expensive too

As I was walking to the lobby I met a man who works there called Artion, who was bringing my food to the room. It was completely unnecessary but very sweet!

Hotel is what you can expect from a Moxy but the staff is extremely friendly I had ordered food one day and didn’t get a notification it was delivered

Staying in this hotel was great and fun. We felt comfortable. The rooms are modern, and the hotel bar is never boring.

Breakfast takes place in the bistro \ restaurant rooms of the CUXX, and features sweet and savory foods, with some subtleties that I have rarely encountered (including: 16 types of tea that can be consumed only after infusion (no prepackaged in sachets), fresh smoothie, 3 types of honey, 6 of jams, 3 varieties of seeds)

The staff is quick, kind, and is able to capture the needs of customers and satisfy them even before their request is made. The price to stay here is very good (considering the quality offered)

On this, our night was very not comfortable. (The staff said that all the rooms are busy and that in general they have such small beds everywhere that of course madness)

At this level it is possible to access to the bar and the bistro / restaurant room (where breakfast is also served), the CUXX, which can also be used by people who are not guests of the structure

It is also located in front of the Essen fair (the pavilions can therefore be reached by foot in a few minutes) The structure is beautiful and full of design elements

The hall is large, spacious, furnished with a minimal but refined concept. The armchairs, and the glass space where you can enjoy open flames, lit in the evening, are an example of this

Good looking hotel. Very clean and comfortable but I got a very small room. Good size bathroom. Breakfast offers a larger variety than normal breakfast buffet including champagne.

Comfortable and clean room (we had air conditioning) and it's very close to the main station. The breakfast buffet is large and diverse enough. Valerie was an amazing host at the reception who made us feel very welcome

it was a really short stay with a late check in. Location was convenient with easy parking in front of the hotel, the room was very clean, a comfortable bed and a very strong shower

The continental breakfast at expected level in again, a clean / hygiene, restaurant

Everything in the room was clean and appeared new. The bed was comfy and the shower was hot and of a good pressure. For a one night stop over it was ideal - close to the motorway

Hotel was easy to find and was cheap. Free car parking was also a bonus: Checking in was easy and the gentleman on reception was cheery and welcoming - explaining about the hotel and the room access via PIN number

All in all an enjoyable and relaxing stay

The hotel is easy to reach from the station that is close by. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. Parking is free for all guests and you can access the hotel late at night easily

The entry code you get is very helpful and you don't have to carry a key card around with you. Overall a very nice hotel to stay at

Very good, pleasant stay, long queue in front of the coffee machine for the breakfast buffet, normal German filter coffee is recommended. I would stay at the NH-Hotel Essen again anytime. A clear recommendation!

I was there for three nights, I am very satisfied. Nice room, very clean and comfortable. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and the offer was varied. Rolls need some work.

Very central location, standard rooms are small but very modern and clean. Air conditioning. Nice bathroom. Very friendly reception. Possibility of underground parking. Good value for money.

Clean, very well located and excellent breakfast. The only problem is that it has a very small parking place and you need to go to a public one just in front of the hotel, but cost extra

Close to train depot (easy, short walk). Outstanding Customer Service. Room was clean and well kept. Daily housekeeping service. Restaurant and bar/lounge in lobby. No swimming pool 😢. Highly recommended ♥️!

The location is really good (like 10 min walk from Essen HBF and the old town) and it is very easy to reach the highway by car and travel throughout the area or drive to Dortmund to see a football match (which was my main goal of the trip 😉)

I stayed at this hotel while I was in Germany to see Taylor Swift in Gelsenkirchen. The hotel was nice, the room was almost American sized. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English

Overall is a good hotel.As a platinum owner, no lounge but offers simple dinner at the restaurant.The breakfast is great. The hotel is located in a nice park near the theater and art center.

Stayed here in 2011, when FIBO was still at Essen. Found the staff professional and efficient. Rooms were good and the hotel was well located.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. Have no doubt that if I ever come back to the area or the city I would stay here again

Oh, and not to mention the lovely pool with lounge chairs and a massage bed or the cards and chess boards available for general use and great nonstop internet connectivity (best that I've ever seen!)

Excellent hotel over beautiful landscape. Easy access by local roads leading through picturesque surrounding. Quiet and friendly atmosphere.

What's not to like! Courteous and capable staff. Great breakfast with your choice of eggs to order or making the juice of your choice from the available provided ingredients, loads of tasty fresh fruit

Or even the way that the cleaning lady took special and loving care of placing my 3 kids stuffed animals under their blankets to wait for the kids to return (too cute!)

Amazing location directly next to a castle overlooking the Ruhr valley. Amazing amenities. Service was impeccable and the restaurant so lecker. Will return.

I had a great meal at the restaurant. After a good night's sleep, a hearty breakfast awaited me. Completely satisfied, I was able to go home with my dog and hereby give a clear and positive recommendation

Thanks to the excellent team and of course to the chef in the background, who during our stay, in addition to his culinary delights, stood out especially for his warmth and therefore did a great job

Exceptionally friendly service, cozy atmosphere. Choice of food and very good taste. Dessert is a feast for the eyes. However, smaller desserts should also be offered. We'll be back anyway!

You'll get quite a good deal for your buck here even during exhibition times. Except maybe that 2eur tooth brush set I had to buy off then. 😃 Unfortunately I didn't try the breakfast but will next time I'm staying

Reasonably priced. Good service. You get a ticket giving free public transport during your stay. Comfortable and good storage space.

Very nice, Cozy and clean room, same for the bathroom. The hotel is quiet despite the location near the railway. Staff was nice and they offer a card for free access with some train/busses /metro in the area.

This year (2021) they did not open these rooms, but since far fewer people visited the Spiel and also considering the much higher effort to clean the rooms during the pandemic, all this is understandable

However, hope is that in the following years more people are coming for the Spiel again and the super friendly staff at the Intercity hotel continue the service with opening the conference rooms again

Noise from the street is quite significant even with the windows closed, which might disturb your sleep and affect the overall experience

The lack of even one bottle of water in the room is also strange to me. Everything else (restaurant, bar, service etc. is fine, but you know- the room makes the most of the impression)

The rooms are clean and spacious but unfortunately lack air conditioning, which can be uncomfortable during warmer periods

The hotel deserves its 4* - clean rooms, excellent Breakfast, is located in the centre of the city. Recommendation: if you have the desire to sleep longer, post a sign

The location of the hotel is close to the heart of the city centre. Heres the disappointing part, the rooms are ancient and out of date. The rooms are dull and not that good including the quality of the bed

Wifi had good signal in the room with decent speeds. apple docking station built into the bed head with controls for the room lights and TV/radio system. Didnt eat at the hotel, but the bar prices were reasonable

We had a wonderful 5 night stay. The rooms were nice and clean — great value for the price! The staff were also the most friendly and helpful hotel staff I’ve ever met in all my travels in Germany

Things to note: - The hotel is a bit of a walk to the city centre and multiple tram tickets can get quite expensive - Parking is 18Euros per day — on the pricier side

You are given a parking ticket to be reused throughout the stay which is super convenient

The hotel was beautiful, it was spacious, but the pillows weren’t good. The room didn’t not have a refreshing smell. Customer service was good, excellent front desk staff The pizza in the restaurant tasted very good

The common computer printer didn't work either, but the concierge was kind enough to print off the stuff I needed from her office. Always love Holiday Inn, and this one is one of the best I've stayed in

The continental breakfast isn't what you'd be used to in the USA, but it was still good. The only inconvenience was they provided only one room card instead of two

The rooms and beds were nice, but the bathrooms need renovation, and the sound insulation between rooms and hallways was not so good

Not sure if this is normal, but all Holiday Inns I've stayed in provide two. Not usually a big deal, but this hotel requires the room card to be placed in a wall slot to operate the electricity once inside

Rooms are fine for the express brand. We slept 3 easily with the sofa bed. Breakfast is typically German (no complaints), but if you're expecting scrambled eggs and such then you'll be disappointed

Conveniently located a few minutes from the U-Bahn, looks over a pretty square, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and modern. Staff was very friendly and spoke English quite well

Good standard rooms, good standard breakfast, clean. The location is not that great, not so many shops or restaurants nearby. You need to take the car or bus or walk for about 20-30 minutes.

The location is good, very central. I like that it has a kitchenette. The hotel also has ready made meals to microwave. If not one can cook simple meals. The staff is really friendly and helpful

A new property (November 2020) in the most central location, steps from the main train station; secure off-street parking is available. The enthusiastic staff are incredibly attentive and seek to accommodate every need
