Essen, Gildehofstrasse 10 🧭 Map
Hotel is what you can expect from a Moxy but the staff is extremely friendly I had ordered food one day and didn’t get a notification it was delivered. As I was walking to the lobby I met a man who works there called Artion, who was bringing my food to the room. It was completely unnecessary but very sweet!
Staying in this hotel was great and fun. We felt comfortable. The rooms are modern, and the hotel bar is never boring.
Stayed for 3 nights and found the hotel perfect for the purpose of my travel. Rooms big enough for single traveller. Bathroom amenities on par with other Marriott properties. Appreciated the ability to do mobile check in and all staff was prompt in responding to my queries. Overall, a perfect stay!
A nice and cozy hotel, the room furnished in a modern way. Very friendly staff. I would be happy to come back!
Nice modern hotel. Staff very friendly and competent. The hotel rooms are a bit compact. The breakfast is very good.

The hotel is easy to reach from the station that is close by. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. Parking is free for all guests and you can access the hotel late at night easily. The entry code you get is very helpful and you don't have to carry a key card around with you. Overall a very nice hotel to stay at.
Hotel was easy to find and was cheap. Free car parking was also a bonus: Checking in was easy and the gentleman on reception was cheery and welcoming - explaining about the hotel and the room access via PIN number. Everything in the room was clean and appeared new. The bed was comfy and the shower was hot and of a good pressure. For a one night stop over it was ideal - close to the motorway. ...

Staff was courteous and friendly, rooms were clean. Breakfast area clean and food was nice. Location, though... haha. Well, let's just say I woke up quite a few times from the train noises.
Room are decent and people are nice, but €18 for breakfast that have little choice of €7 for a bottle of water is a bit much. Also right now (2024) it’s construction right outside, so if you need want to nap during the afternoon, it’s a bit annoying.
Stayed here for one night for a concert. It was clean, quiet, had good AC and is a short walk to the main Essen train station, so ticked all of the boxes. I have removed one star because we asked the hotel to arrange two taxis for my friend and I who were heading to separate airports. In both cases, the price estimate given by the hotel was significantly lower (by about 40%) than what the taxis ultimately...
The room is nice and clean, The air conditioning and heating system is excellent, the bed is wide and not high, there is no water kettle for tea, check out of the hotel at 11! They did not alert us to that, and they open the door of the room on you while you are in it! If you enter the breakfast buffet a little before closing, the staff will wait for you to finish your food while looking into your...
Me and my dad just stayed here during the euros. Absolutely amazing hotel. Clean rooms and showering facilities were above and beyond. Reception staff were so helpful always on hand for information and extra towels and pillows etc. The bar tender Antonio was an exceptional worker and should be commended for his work ethics and service. Nothing was too much. He worked great under pressure when the...
Spent 4 nights here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean place to stay. Many would say this hotel is near the station but small sized me with my big luggage on a rainy afternoon still found it quite a struggle to get to! Hotel staff are friendly and welcoming, and made my stay pleasant. Room was clean I constantly needed hot water to drink and the staff helped me to fill my flask up...

Booked with movie park Holidays. Was expecting something slightly better but the stay was fine, we arrived at around 1h in the morning. The room was okay but nothing special and the breakfast was fine .. near the train station, I would have put 3,5 stars if I could.

Location is too good, Staff are very helpful, In my opinion the rooms are not that neat and nice, heat is not good enough.
Very good place to stay, specially I reccomend breackfast buffet its the best in Town, Cesar will be taking care of you at the restaurante so great.
Good value for money, it may be a bit old and dated but the rooms are clean and bright and it's in a great location
It's only ok. Just ok. Old place, water drops from ceiling in my room. Let's hope after renovation it will be better. They should lower prices of their rooms. The only thing that saves this hotel is it's location.

Conveniently located a few minutes from the U-Bahn, looks over a pretty square, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and modern. Staff was very friendly and spoke English quite well. The continental breakfast isn't what you'd be used to in the USA, but it was still good. The only inconvenience was they provided only one room card instead of two. Not sure if this is normal, but all Holiday Inns I've stayed...
Excellent and friendly staff. The rooms and beds were nice, but the bathrooms need renovation, and the sound insulation between rooms and hallways was not so good. The room keys wouldn't stay programmed for more than 15 minutes, so I had to visit the lobby nearly every time I went back to my room.
Friendly staff. Rooms are fine for the express brand. We slept 3 easily with the sofa bed. Breakfast is typically German (no complaints), but if you're expecting scrambled eggs and such then you'll be disappointed. Parking, if you have to use the attached parking garage. However, parking in the street is mostly free if you can find a space.

Nicely located hotel with individual, spacious rooms, good breakfast buffet and a host who is very kind to extra requests. With pleasure again.

We had our wedding reception at Weber's and I could not have asked for a better experience. The staff was outstanding, the food was phenomenal, and Amber, Tina, and their teams did everything necessary to make the process stress free. My guest raved over the food and dining experience. We stayed at the hotel two days to follow and indulged in their infamous brunch and room service. The hotel is extremely...
Great hotel, very near to Essen city center. And if you need to go to the Messe it's only a 10 minute drive
Mixed feelings about this one, no reataurant, even though they advertise with one... Rooms are all pretty nice, clothes get folded while they clean the room. Staff is average.
Good standard rooms, good standard breakfast, clean. The location is not that great, not so many shops or restaurants nearby. You need to take the car or bus or walk for about 20-30 minutes.
The rooms are small but nice and offer a great few on the higher floors. People are nice and forthcoming.

In the heart of the city. Clean, friendly personnel. You can work and enjoy in the bar area. Parking costs extra :( Breakfast cost extra :( Finally, for short business trips quite ok.
Small, modern and cozy rooms. You can take any place for breakfast. That was unexpected and pleasant
Very basic room and clean, quiet and everything works. Would be nice to have some water in the room. Breakfast is nice.
Good breakfast, good location near shops, bars and restaurant, public transportation. Good prices. In the 7th floor, nice view in the flats placed in the front of the building.
Clean, functional rooms. Excellent location and very good value. My room even had a small balcony. Only ommission for me was no mini bar.

I stayed here for 3 nights. The service and friendliness of staff is the best I have experienced anywhere in Europe or the US. Whatever I asked for it was done - from reception. The breakfast staff were exceptional. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Thank you for being so welcoming and helpful.
Old fashioned hotel, definitely would not rate 4* Breakfast was ok, nothing extraordinary. Good location with shuttle bus
The rooms are clean and comfortable, but they are small. The bathrooms are also clean and tidy, but also small. Nevertheless the hotel is nice, breakfast is very good and the restaurant has good food. It is not a brand new hotel, but worth the price.
clean & nice hotel with calm environment... just loved the morning breakfast..which is complementary .
Although the staff were helpful and friendly the breakfast buffet was excellent the hotel smelt very strongly of smoke. Make sure you book a none smoking room.
Placed in a quiet area of the town, it boasts classic hotel rooms, nothing too impressive. Yet when you wake up and get down for breakfast, it feels like holidays have arrived. There's a great sunny area for having breakfast and the variety is quite good.

A very clean well-kept hotel. On the plus side, delicious breakfasts are included in the price. From 7 am you can feel fresh rolls throughout the hotel. Competent receptionists willing to help. Unfortunately, the rooms are very small. But we only slept there. So enough. Unfortunately, no fridge in the room, but still 5 stars should be. Free parking, unfortunately small, but in case of need 5 parking...
Very nice and cosy little hotel. The shower in my room was very small though, with such a narrow door that I had to walk sideways into the shower.
Great place to stay if you mainly want to visit the city. The rooms are very small but super cosy and clean with modern furniture. The breakfast was great, too. The only limitation could be the amount of parking spaces but we always managed to find one. 24/7 reception is also a plus.
Great value for a good hotel. It is located close to the city center and provided us with nice and quiet rooms and a really good but also very low priced breakfast. Only downside were the rather small bathrooms (was in fact no problem to us)
Hotel renovated on the past timer. Rooms are big and good equipped. Bathroom not to big but clean, towels were fresh. Very frendly and helpful personel. I recommend this hotel?
People are pleasant. Room was a little bit small but overall it was clean, just a little old. The location is great otherwise, 5min from the city center. Breakfast was ok but not extraordinary. For the discount we had (-50%) it's ok, for the regular price, you pay the good location mainly.

3 star hotel with great breakfast for 12€. For the price it is a great offer and the location is a busy street in center close to the DB railway but you do not hear it. Super Service.
I really rate this three Star hotel. In Germany you either get terrible at this price or good. This is excellent. We stayed in a large rear facing room, so it was quiet. Breakfast is okay, so long as it's included in the price. Staff very friendly. There is free bottled water in the basement. Nice box of Lindt chocolates left in the room. They gave us a free beer on the first night and a chocolate...
The host was exceptional. We really appreciated the ability to use the breakfast tables for playing board games at night.

Good location. Clean. Comfy beds. Quite modern. Good wifi. Amazing for one night, real close to Essen station across the highway.
We stayed there just for one night for the Essen Board Game convention and everything was great. The room was clean and spacious and the stuff was very kind to answer any question we had. It seems to attract lots of gamers during that period and we were lucky enough to meet some famous people from the board gaming community staying there. We stayed on the ground floor just next to the breakfast area...

Good location in Gelsenkirschen near station and shops, no upper restaurants but Essen is nearby, parking charges, 8E per day, hotel small and busy but good for short stays. Nice staff and breakfast.
Hotel for short-term stays suitable, something in the years come, the Breakfast is good but train ticket incl overpriced,. All in all, okay!
Cheap Hotel, slept for a night after a concert there. The room was OK, Breakfast we found a bit expensive. But there are good Alternatives in the city. Beautiful, the proximity to the train station and the free Ticket is.
From the Service, it was very satisfied , Breakfast was also great .... Had booked a Family Room, what we have a regular room where a fold-out bed inside was made ! To sleep it was very noisy since we slept on the street ...? Rooms are very small , a few cosmetic repairs would have to be made ! Apart from the room . It was all okay . The staff is definitely top ?? it should be easy to look when a child...
Hotel stay was good. On average the personel was really slow in doing their task. Maybe it was because there was a festival going on. The food was good, no complaints.
Station, the shopping street is also near and convenient. Accommodation number of days in a one-day ticket and also get your.

Decent lower budget hotel in Essen. The rooms are clean and the staff is nice.and helpful. It is centrally located right in the city center. Downside is the non existent sound proof of the rooms. You will hear anything next door and on the hallway. Also the rooms are tiny.
Very centrally located hotel, pretty clean, the rooms are not very big but they offer pretty good quality. The only thing I did not like is that the elevator is not working....hopefully it's only a temporary problem.
I stayed here for business this week and location is right in the middle of the city, which means it's also quite loud outside with many restaurants and people hanging out in the street quite late. Check-in was smooth and fast and all staff I met was nice yet not overly warm or welcoming. I had a room across the street where you ring the bell at a separate entrance and staff on the main hotel side...
Very close in the centre of Essen. Pretty cheap, and clean rooms. Nothing special, but ok. Service is ok, parking is close, but a but awkward to find for the first time.
We stayed in the Hotel for only one night and paid a really fair price compared to hotels in the area. The hotel is situated in walking distance of the center of Essen. Average quality hotel for the price/location. No restaurant, but a decent breakfast buffet available in the mornings. Staff were somewhat abrupt at times but could well just need a cultural things...
They have a 24/7 reception, what is very nice. Breakfast is good, could be upgraded with eggs or something hot, but is okay. Room was clean, but small. Especially the bathroom. An unencrypted WiFi is a no-go for me. But I wasn't able to use it that long anyway, cause it was first super slow and broken on my second day at the hotel.
This is a family run hotel in a suburb of Essen, within easy walking distance of museums, art galleries, shops and restaurants. Friendly staff, comfortable beds and good German breakfast. Apart from the refurbished bathrooms, the hotel has a 1980s feel to it, solid and reassuring. The only downside is finding somewhere to park on street. I would definitely use it again.
Clean rooms and good breakfast. The hotel is in a quiet district near the city centre (~5 minutes). The only problem is that only a small part of the staff speaks English.

Nice modern and clean hotel. Was surprising because the surrounding doesn't look so good. There is no check in lobby, you just ring the bell and the staff give you the code to the locker with the keys to the room. The rooms are small, but comfy.
