Very nice hotel nestled in the middle of nature and in a quiet location. Just a few steps to the Liebesbankweg and the forest. 500 meters to the stave church and the village. The operators are very open-minded and familiar. Staff also very friendly and accommodating. Despite the conditions in the hotel due to Corona, I had a normal hotel day at Pentecost. We had another wonderful family holiday in our favorite hotel! The operators are very cordial, open-minded and informal. Despite the current requirements, we had a normal everyday hotel life. In good memory. We are already looking forward to the next time :)

Excellent hotel. Very hospitable people. Think about routes. Nothing is too much. We have walked, beautiful surroundings. Never knew that the Harz is so beautiful. Hotel is definitely recommended. Creative solutions have been found to be corona proof. Nothing but praise.

Very nice hotel right on the edge of the forest in a quiet location. We had a great room with a view of the Bocksberg. The nice employee at the reception and in the breakfast room fulfilled all wishes. The breakfast buffet was also great. Unfortunately the weather didn't play along, but we will definitely come back again.

We are totally satisfied. Had a junior suite. In the evenings in particular, we really enjoyed the couches. From the balcony we could see the Bocksberg. Breakfast is solid, rolls, eggs and everything you like. We'd love to come back.

We went there as a family with our 1 year old son. The pension was ok. It could have been a little cleaner (e.g. cobwebs everywhere) and is a bit old. Otherwise, our concerns were properly taken care of, a travel cot and a high chair were provided. The breakfast was sufficient. The Bocksberg was within walking distance. You could spend the whole day there, e.g. ride the cable car, summer toboggan run...

At first glance our room looked quite good and comfortable. But up close you could see that everything was a bit dusty and worn. (Like the entire place.) The bathroom was like stepping back in time to the 70's. But apart from the dust it was clean. We stayed here with 2 families for 3 days at the turn of the year and found it totally fine. Mr. Hirschmann gave the children an extra room opposite ours, so that we adults could spend time together in the evening and still keep an eye on the children. Breakfast is small but sufficient. Room / price is fair.some rooms are renovated and nice, others rather old. As I tend not to spend too much time in my room I do not care much about it. I need a bed and a shower, that I had :-) The beds though are not comfortable much. Food, serivce and cleanliness is very good. I did not try out the sauna etc. Overall I would still recommend it because the price is very fair and all but the beds...

A very nice hotel, but rather expensive. The steep room rate is to some extent countered by the quiet surroundings and the excellent food. The room wasn't large, the TV didn't work. Had it worked we wouldn't have enjoyed it, it's tiny. The bed was way too soft. The staff were very friendly.

We felt very comfortable, our room was very clean, but there was no handle in the shower. The breakfast buffet and the raw food menu in the evening were unbeatable.

Clean simple friendly hotel, one star here is far superior to what you'd expect anywhere else. Yes, the decor's a bit dated, but perfectly good. Breakfast was good, usual fare provided. Lovely visit.

My wife daughter and I picked this hotel as it was close to the mine museum. It turned out to be a real gem. The rooms were very clean and bright and the staff were absolutely lovely.

Stayed with a large group of family, we all had a great stay. Location was central so great for exploring. The hotel is very picturesque. The staff were all very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Is a home for assisted living and a hotel. As a hotel guest, I felt very welcome there. The rooms and apartments were furnished to a high standard. The location is very central and quiet. I can only recommend.

Nice hotel in the center of Altenau. Run by two super nice and nice people. I just showed up spontaneously and got a room without any problems. The rooms are fine and adequately equipped for just staying overnight. Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The room was well equipped and had access to the balcony. It was also great to get drinks from the fridge in the lounge for a fee. The division of the shower and the toilet is not successful. Perfect as a hiker for the Hexenstieg. Rooms are neat and clean. The breakfast is varied and plentiful. A little further down there is a pub with a good selection of beers.

I found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful. I really liked the breakfast, but unfortunately the warm dishes (scrambled eggs, pancakes) were quite cold. The hotel is in a great location and there are plenty of parking spaces. The children's playroom is unfortunately pretty bleak. A room without windows. No nice wall decoration, furniture looks thrown together. Not a nice place for children...

My wife and I have visited this hotel twice in 7 years and we were very satisfied each time 😁. The service is good, the food is delicious and includes a good selection (half board). The rooms are nicely furnished, the beds are good - everything you need for a (short) vacation. Only the Harz itself has significantly fewer trees 🌲😕. Recommendation 👍👍
