I passed by Leipzig on a car trip and just happened to book a room at Hotel Michaelis. This turned out to be a very good choice as the hotel was excellent in many aspects. Super-friendly and helpful staff. A large and clean room with a view of towers and church spires. Nice breakfast included, as well as a small bottle of wine. All this for 79 Euro, which is very competitive price/performance.

as always with motel one it offers one of the best value for money experiences at gorgeous places. here in front of the famous Nikolaikirche. i had a room with a french balcony wirh direct view of the church.

If you really don’t mind where you stay; if your desire for taste - in decor and food - is in the ‘take it or leave it’ category, then one night here is probably not going to cause your sensibilities too much disturbance. But… it’s another one of those hotels that use their space to the best of their advantage. Ie not much for you! Room are very small and equipped with the minimum of mod-cons though...

Excellent location for walking to many wonderful sites.

A good, well stocked bar. Breakfast is continental, sadly none of the thinly sliced cheese on offer has any flavour, but the bread is good. The room was comfortable and you can open the window. The shower was very effective, too.

Tiny rooms with just barest necessities. Ours facing the noisy street. Breakfast was adequate but super crowded, for extra charge, and once we had to be in the bar for it. Parking (is partially validated) is a few blocks away. Besides the hotel itself, we thoroughly enjoyed visiting Leipzig, a wonderful city. We will look for a different hotel next time.

Great stay Great location near to all sites and train station. Have stayed at Motel One many times in uk and was surprised to find no tea and coffee facilities in the room in Leipzig which would be my only negative. We chose not to have the breakfast and found plenty of places nearby instead. Would stay again

Quiet room Excellent sound proofing. Very close to elevators, but no chimes nor people heard once the door was closed. Also no sounds from neighbours or above. Only tenuous drum sounds when they were really going at it on the main road. Curtains do not completely block light, though.

Hotel in excellent location. The addition of a kettle in the room would have been a bonus.

A short 2 night stay, the room was very spacious with 2 large single beds, tea/coffee making facilities and mini fridge. The buffet breakfast was very nice plenty of choice with hot and cold options. The restaurant meals were very nice, very tasty and well cooked and not overpriced. There was a small supermarket nearby but other than this there wasn’t a lot of other shops, cafes or restaurants nearby

OK Hotel Good value for the money but a bit far from city center on an Industrial area. 30 min with train to town. My room, a twin bedroom was big and with a nice balcony facing gardens. The bed wonderfully comfortable. The bathroom was a good size. Big minus for the lack of air condition on the room. Breakfast OK.

Booked room on booking.com, good price and nice tidy hotel and room, not the biggest room but was fit for purpose and it had a nice little balcony area that can be used for smoking. Brekki is a little on the pricey side at £15 a head. Communication was good. Wifi was good when we found the details which is noted on the wall by the lift. Location was really good, close to some stores and restaurants. We got upgrade to apartament and it was really big and nice. Separate living room with kitchen, all modern style. Upstairs was bedroom. The Hotel Papilio is a beautiful and cozy Hotel!!! The rooms are very pleasant with a large flat TV, the beds are very soothing with two pillows and a neck roll. The room service is very courteous and always friendly!!! Up on the road noise on the front of the hotel, with the window open and the small shower, the rooms are really perfect. The Restaurant is really a nice room with a beautiful beer garden...

The price is relatively cheap, the room is quite big, European hotels are relatively clean, the breakfast is very rich, and it is very convenient to the airport, which is a good choice for business trips.

The hotel has a rich buffet breakfast. The hotel is just opposite the airport, only a 3-minute walk away, but there are no shops around. If you need to buy food, you have to return to the airport.

The parking lot is the airport parking lot, which is a bit inconvenient, but otherwise ok, very close to the airport!

Room and staff were great! We loved the airco in the room and the breakfast particularly. When we booked, we paid almost 120 euro per night. However, during our stay the price was about half of that. This felt disappointing, because we paid in full. During the booking process, we were not notified about the free parking in the street next to the hotel. This could be better communicated to future guests...

The beds were very uncomfortable - you could feel the springs and the breakfasts were meagre every time we were there. Runny eggs and out of a lot of things. Not returning. Staff were all ok.

About what you can expect from a 3 star hotel in Germany: average hotel with employees that don't speak or don't want to speak English. The bed was comfortable so we got a good night's sleep. The only problem we had with it was that the room smelled like someone smoked cigarettes in it every day for the past 20 years. Won't book this hotel again.
