Reviews
Firstly, the temperature during our stay was around 31°C (88°F), and unfortunately, the air conditioning in our room was not working at all. This made the room unbearably hot, and neither my children nor I could sleep throughout the night.
In an attempt to resolve the issue, I called the reception around 3 AM, but no one answered the phone. Frustrated, I went down to the reception desk myself, only to find a sign stating "will be back soon." It appeared that the receptionist had gone for a nap, as I waited for 30 minutes, and no one showed up.
The next morning, I reported the problem to the reception staff. Their response was shockingly casual, with a mere "oh, ok," and not even an apology. I requested to change rooms, hoping for a better experience, but the new room was even worse. The air conditioning issue persisted, and once again, we couldn't sleep for the second night.
Overall, the lack of responsiveness and care from the staff, combined with the unbearable heat and malfunctioning air conditioning, made our stay extremely unpleasant. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families. Our experience was terrible, and it felt like the staff couldn't care less about our discomfort. Avoid this place if you value a good night's sleep and decent customer service.
The Mercure Hotel Stuttgart Airport Messe lives up to its name, offering a convenient and comfortable stay for travelers passing through Stuttgart. Here's a closer look at my experience:
Location: This is a clear win for the Mercure. It's situated right next to the airport, with a free shuttle service to whisk you away upon arrival. A train station is also nearby, providing easy access to Stuttgart's city center. If you're attending trade shows at the Messe Stuttgart exhibition center, you couldn't be in a better spot.
Rooms: My room was modern and well-maintained, with clean lines and comfortable furniture. It wasn't overly spacious, but adequate for a short stay. Amenities like a flat-screen TV, minibar, and efficient air conditioning ensured a relaxing environment. Soundproofing was decent, so airplane noise wasn't a major issue.
Amenities: The hotel boasts two on-site restaurants – Le Faisan for a sit-down meal and a lobby bar for lighter bites and drinks. I didn't have the chance to dine at either, but the menus looked promising. There's also a sauna and a gym for those seeking to unwind or stay active. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, which is always a plus.
Service: The staff at the Mercure were friendly and professional. The check-in process was smooth, and they were happy to answer any questions I had about the area or the hotel's facilities.
Overall: The Mercure Hotel Stuttgart Airport Messe is a solid option for travelers looking for a convenient and comfortable stay near the airport or exhibition center. While it might not be the most luxurious hotel, it provides good value for money and caters well to the needs of business travelers and those in transit.
Here are some things to consider depending on your priorities:
Limited character: If you're looking for a charming, boutique hotel experience, the Mercure might not be the best fit.
Dining options: While the hotel has on-site restaurants, there might be limited variety compared to staying closer to the city center.
Recommendation: I would definitely recommend the Mercure Hotel Stuttgart Airport Messe to anyone prioritizing convenience and a comfortable stay near the airport or exhibition center.
Despite the do not disturb door tag, hotel staff has knocked on our door four times. First time it was the cleaning lady and she apologized, which is fine. As for the second and third times, there was no one standing outside. When I received a knock on the door for the fourth time, there was still no one but I stood outside and waited. About a minute later, a male hotel staff appeared and apologized. Can no one read the do not disturb door tag in the door???
Also, if you’re staying at the back of the hotel, you will hear loud trash noises starting at 8am, followed by sounds of renovation including drilling, hammers etc. Never coming back.
