Arrived today and this place is amazing. Beautiful room with views of the ocean. Facility is totally first class. Friendly, competent check in, valet parking, pool bar. Haven't been to beach yet but it looks great. Haven't eaten yet but the dining rooms are elegant. I'll add more once I have tasted the all inclusive lunch and dinner buffets. I'm not typically a fan of buffet food but I'm hoping they pull it off. Time for a nap with a water view. Not an angled, partial view obstructed by trees, buildings, and what not. Rather a full, ocean front view, from left to right amazing view. Cheers.

It’s more of a 3.5 Star Resort. Not sure how they have 5 Stars.

Views are amazing! You get amazing views everywhere in the hotel.

Food is very disappointing. Buffet food was very limited choices, it feels like they also recycle food from previous meals. No snack bar or food between meals. Only good food was breakfast. Restaurant are even worse than Buffets.

Beach is nice and cozy, only issue is the noise from the street behind.

Staff super friendly.

Rooms are clean, washroom was horrible, outdated and poorly designed. It felt like a 3 star hotel.

We had a great time at this resort. From NewYork we could only land at Santo Domingo which is about three hours ride, can be long. We arranged a private transfer with the hotel and it went smoothly. The resort itself is very charming, small and relaxing. It is rather old, but correctly maintained. Rooms and common areas could use some renovation, but overall it is decent for the price. Don't expect everything to be super clean and perfect, it is an older building, set your expectations accordingly. Food wise, offer was varied and we found something to eat every meal. You are in an all-inclusive eating buffet food, this is what you get. No fine dining but very correct for a resort. Some reviews are complaining about food options not being included in the a la carte restaurants, most dishes are included so you can easily find something to eat unless you are overly picky... Then maybe you should not go to an all-inclusive resort. The site is rather quiet, no big party or super loud music, which we liked. It is easy to get around as the site is small, can feel redundant at times but we stayed 4 nights and it was perfect. There is about 2h of entertainment each night at the lobby bar, it is good. No big show, very intimate venue and we liked that. Does not have the "luxury" details of a usual 5* hotel (no slippers or bathrobes provided, limited bar service on the beach or pool etc.) but feels like a good 3-4*. The downside for us has been the beach, we liked that it is a small private beach but clearly not enough chairs and palapas for all guests. It is close to the road so you can hear trucks driving by, and the beach is not super clean. We were not allowed to swim before noon on our last day as they were replacing the safety cord in the ocean, staff was working very slowly to get this completed. Everyone's safety is important, but this could have been done earlier so we could have enjoyed the sea in the morning. All factored in, we had a great time and would definitely recommend this resort to our friends.

We had a lovely time at this resort! It’s quiet and not too crowded, we really appreciated the quaint vibe of it all. The setting. As gorgeous and the staff so amazingly sweet. We had a great time and it was always a pleasure to walk into Maxwell at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The only less positive point is the buffet, for breakfast it was great, but lunch and dinner sometimes left us wishing for more.
Overall great experience for childless groups that just want to enjoy a quiet time around the pool or on the beach, and want to explore beautiful Samana!

This place is for you if you: need a restorative, quiet time; can manage several flights of stairs to the beach; aren't fussy about food; don't want a loud party atmosphere; aren't looking to explore the DR too much on your own.
There is a single town about 15 minutes away walking along a busy road, therefore, suggest you get the all-inclusive. This place used to be quite busy (I was there in 2014 and 2018) but now is at about half capacity or less. I hope they don't close it, and instead, cater to a crowd who wants a quiet time. If you're looking to party, go elsewhere. If you're looking to just relax, be fed, get your drinks for free, this is it. Go now before something changes! If you're Canadian, you can use the little Samana airport, about 1.5 hours away. I'm not sure the airport is taking US flights yet.

This was a perfect resort, exactly what I was looking for. Quiet, clean, good food, this is a small resort with lots of wonderful staff, always kind, and helpful. I highly recommend this resort if you are looking to rest, meet a few other guests, enjoy peace and quiet in a beautiful setting.

Excellent resort with lovely view and rooms that were comfortable and spacious. Got the all inclusive and food was plentiful but only allowed well brands mostly outside of rum. Would definitely recommend a stay there if you get the chance and the staff are super helpful. Model is @dwan.marie

Deceiving advertisements on web. Claimed all inclusive but really partially inclusive. Advertising 4 restaurant, two of which are a la cart. Both a la cart restaurants closed and only offered buffet for dinner. Lunch offered limited menu and buffet. Management did not seem to care other than say they were sorry. Traveled three hours via car to reach the resort. Honeymoon package offered was not honored either…Will not return nor recommend…

My experience at this resort was better than I expected.. except when it came to the walk back to the rooms. My card key failed 10times and I had to walk 10times back to the lobby.. it was one of the problems. Another one was the day of departure. Every staff member was rude and I got food poisoned. Overall I give it a 3.5-5.
Update: I just read their reply. Lmao I’m telling you service is horrible

I had a really bad experience at this hotel. I don’t recommend it … stay away from it.
The resort was closed for almost all of last year (2023). They opened it 7 months ago (Dec 2023).
With out a doubt, the staff is very nice and they go above and beyond to make up for the short ends the hotel offers.
I booked this resort in Expedia because it had 8.2 rating. It is obviously some kind of ratings scam.
When I booked the resort, it offered a buffet and three restaurants a la carta. During our stayed (July 2024) the number of patrons was very low. I was told by several staff members that the amount of customers have been very low since they reopened. Because there is almost no one there, the a la cata restaurants have been closed (something that it should be disclosed online). The only eating option is the buffet, which it is very limited and the same every day.
There is no entertainment.
When we got to the room the floor was all wed. I was tired and I assumed it had been recently cleaned. When we woke up in the morning the room was flooded. My suite case which I had left on the floor was floating and my cloths were all wed. The air conditioning had been severely leaking all night, situation which I am sure they knew because our room was wed when we got there. To make it worst, the night we got there was raining heavily and the window seals also leak, leading large amounts of water into the bedroom.
Stay away from this place.
