NH Barcelona Diagonal Center

I spent more than 20 days in this hotel, and first I have to say the staff here is nice and friendly. My room was always perfectly cleaned, and even when I requested cleaning later in the day, it was done quickly. The reception staff were also kind and helpful. So, all stars go to the staff, especially the cleaning team.

The breakfast was okay – nothing too special, but acceptable. The eggs were a bit dry, and the coffee wasn’t very good.

My biggest issue was with the hotel key cards. They didn’t work properly at all. I literally had to go to the reception every day because my card wasn’t working. It turned out to be my fault, as my phone was erasing the card. I’m very sorry, but this wasn’t the first time I stayed at a hotel, and it never happened to me before. Imagine having to go to the reception EVERY DAY for a new card. I must emphasize again that this wasn’t the receptionist's fault, but rather an outdated card system or something similar.

The area around the hotel is unattractive – very ugly and smelly. On the other hand, it is quite convenient, with everything you need close by.

You can hear everything what is happening in the hotel while you are in your room. So you get earplugs as a gift.

If you want to stay in this hotel because you go to razzmatazz you will be ok. If you want to stay longer, it might be a bit uncomfortable.

So, why only two stars? I’m also very disappointed. Overall, the stay wasn’t *that* bad, but I found a cockroach in my room, which is simply unacceptable.

Awful hotel for the price. Needs renovation asap. Furniture in the room with damage everywhere, bedsheets and towels with holes and stains. Stain in the walls and wallpaper peeling off. Bathroom with a huge hole in the celling covered with plaster and light not working properly. Elevators made so much noise and trembling that we would just avoid. Neighborhood is a mix, if you turn the wrong street it's very unsafe. (my friend got spitted on the face by a random man when we were returning to the hotel at 5p.m.

Definitely I don't recommend it based on my very poor (and expensive) experience.

The rooms were old, ceiling on my floor had water damage and on my last day we had to pack and move to another room because water was leaking out of the ceiling.
Also no coffeemaker in the room. Area is not the best, hotel pictures I saw in websites were deceiving . I expected something better.
