Mònica Hotel

This was a return to the Mònica and Cambrils after first visiting in 2023, we were looking forward a relax and reset after a difficult year so far . Our stay at the Monica did not disappoint. We had a great seaview, enjoyed the amazing breakfasts served by wait on staff who are constantly cleaning and tidying away. This time we used the spa facilities after a day at the beach, relaxing in the jacuzzi. Santos looked after us in the evening serving our drinks and making us feel welcome. Cleaning staff, without fail made our room up everyday allowing us to refresh after the beach in a welcome clean air conditioned room Front staff always welcomed us in to the hotel with a pleasant’Hola!’ Always feel welcome and safe in Cambrils, enjoying a trip to monserrate this year which we would definitely recommend. The food everywhere in Cambrils is top rate and the beach is superb. Local buses are easy to use and regular. We will definitely be back to cambrils and The Monica hotel.

This was our first trip to Cambrils and this hotel was absolutely perfect for us. We had a superior garden view, which was a good size and had a small balcony. Plenty of storage but no drawers which we thought a little strange. The safe was in the wardrobe but placed quite high. Good job my hubby is 6ft3! The cleanliness of the hotel and rooms is fantastic. Thankyou to the cleaning ladies. The beds are very comfy and changed every couple of days... brilliant. The food was superb and so much choice both for breakfast and dinner. The staff are always very pleasant and polite. We had to report a coule of things that had broken in our room. No problems, the repairs were done very quickly. There are some areas of the hotel that could benefit from a spruce up, but nothing that will stop us returning. A big thankyou to Santos for always being so cheerful, Antonio who realised I was quite ill one day and kept asking about my health until I was well again. The reception and restaurant staff are all very helpful and seem to love their jobs! The pool area looked nice but as we are beach people did not use it. The hotel is less than 5 mins walk to the fantastic beach. We will be returning.

Reviewed 17 Jun 2025 This was my 8th visit to the Hotel Monica and 3rd visit with my son David following his first visit with me in May 2019. Once again we were warmly greated by the receptionist who remembered us from previous visits. Which is a nice start to our holiday. On my first 5 visits being a solo traveller I had a single room (for details see earlier reviews) but since my son started holiday with me we now share a twin room but without a pool view. This overlooks the rear of properties that are located in the street that runs from the beach. Its not the prittiest of views but our answer to this is that we only use the room to sleep in and store our belongings. We are now familiar with the bar & dinning room staff and during our 2 week stay we soon got to know the any new personel, Santos the bar man deserves a mention on every visit he would greet us with a smile and a laugh. To him I was know as Henry or Mauricio (Maurice). Introduced last year all drinks and any lunchtime meals are charged to your room, this also includes bottles of wine purchased with evening meals and they no longer store them with your room number. Instead you take any left in the bottle to your room. Breakfast was exactly the same as per previous visits with a choice of hot or cold food to suit all tastes and nationalities. Each evening there was always a good variety of prepared food as well as the show cooking food available. Breakfast time for our first week was 7.30am and our 2nd week 8.00am from the 1st of June. We are not use to eating this late so we found that you need to have something to eat at about 2 pm. In some instances we used the hotel bar for ordering food and there was varied range available supplied to order. Other wise there are plenty of small cafe in the resort where you can get a sandwich etc. During our stay we recognised guests who we had meet before and new ones who we had numerous conversations with during there stay. Hence the attraction when I first came to this "Small & Friendly Hotel" . Overal our stay was most enjoyable and already we are considering coming back next year. This year was the hotest and sunniest weather I have experienced in Cambrils. The pool area has undegone some nice changes since last year and the pictures of this area need updating on the Monica web page to do it justice. Two nights during the each week we had entertainment provided in the closed off pool area which was a new addition. The local bus service is excellent and you can get a bus card with 10 trips for less than 10 euros For example using this card I could travel as far as Tarragona for only 61 cents. There are numerous boats offering trips out to sea and we used one that did an hours sail of the coast of Cambrils for 10 euros plus drink, a realy pleasant short trip.

We thought this hotel was perfectly placed in Cambrills, spotless, comfortable, quiet (no banging music) beautiful garden pool area. We were on the 4th floor overlooking rooftops with partial sea view however, the balcony was teeny tiny as everyone else's. Nonetheless, really comfy and housekeeping was excellent (well done housekeeping) Entertainment twice weekly (same artists) in the bar which opened 4pm( just something tp be aware of). We used the restaurant 5days out of 14 and very disappointed on our last morning as they wanted to charge us 2euros extra each! Just because it was our last day!! We found this ungracious to guests who were obviously not zip lock baggers, what a strange management decision? To finish; there would appear to be large groups of golfers, cyclists and touring groups which make quite a cacophony in the restaurant at dinner. Not for kiddies Cambrills

Thank you for your reply on breakfast extra charge on last day** on arrival we were told dinner was 24euros and breakfast was 11euros. We generally booked dinner day before, so we booked breakfast day before It was at this point we were informed it would be 2euros extra each as it was our last day! so, we cancelled on principle as we felt penalised. Nothing to do with numbers whatsoever as we always booked in advance. It's a point that other people should know

The Monica Hotel was a very good hotel overall, excellent location on Cambrils, the staff were also excellent, shout out to the lady in the bar (Nuria I think), she was very friendly.Cleanliness was spot on as well in the rooms. The pool area was very relaxed but I felt some of the loungers could do with a bit of a clean, bit overall a very nice environment. The room we had was garden view and although small was nice with good beds and was very clean, kudos to the cleaning ladies. Food wise we tries breakfast and lunch and Lunch especially was very good and very good prices, prices for drinks was good as well. The only downside I had was the outside balcony, ours had a sort of wooden decking on it and I must admit it didn't feel very safe, I've recently had a life changing injury and was very reluctant to use the balcony as it just didn't feel secure (room 210). If i could get a balcony without the wooden decking I would definitely return, a very good holiday and hotel.

The hotel has a lovely, charming and calming feeling about it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The reception and bar area is spacious and relaxing. Pool area is beautiful with different areas to sunbathe. Breakfast - plenty of choice. Croissants are yummy! Good choice of breads, fruit, yoghurts, cakes and hot breakfast. You can have a fresh omelette made, eggs, pancakes if you like. Coffee machine makes a nice cup. Two slight criticisms....the toast machines are very slow, which is common in hotels abroad, and the bacon is not like you get in England! Which is to be expected and it is not a problem as there are so many other choices. There were a lot of different nationalities in the hotel, we were in the minority, which we liked! The Rooms - Bottles of water left on the first day which I thought was a nice touch. We booked a garden room which overlooks the pool, they are very modern and stylish. Bathrooms have walk in spacious shower. Balcony good size, air-conditioning is excellent and gets cool straight away. Mbaye leads the team at breakfast and is great, friendly and funny! and very efficient. Santos works like superman 🦸‍♂️ in the bar! All the staff made our stay special and we are planning to return soon. We loved it ❤️ Thank you

Hotel was in a great area, food was great and staff very helpful.

The hotel was spotless, fantastic location close to everything including the beach. We only ate one meal at the Hotel and it was OK but there were so many great restaurants close by. Staff generally were very helpful especially bar staff and cleaners. The pool area was beautiful but the mosquitoes were vicious and you need spray on all day not just late afternoon onwards. Our room was lovely with everything we needed.

My husband and I arrived at the Monica on September 20th at 7pm.The receptionist greeted us with a smile ,I apologise as I have mislaid her name .We spoke on several occasions and she was always extremely helpful. In the evening we were greeted in the restaurant by the owner,she is a fantastic lady . I would like to give a shout out to the waiting staff ,who are all exceptionally friendly ,Mbaye,Antonio,Delores,Fatouma,not forgetting Aida,who helped me with my limited Spanish pronunciation. The food is very good from breakfast to evening meal.Always something for everyone. Rooms are kept extremely clean and beds very comfortable. I shall also mention Roger the young man who looks after the maintenance of the hotel.He was very helpful and polite . That just leaves me to Santos who runs the bar area .Always happy to oblige. The beach is five minutes from the hotel also the shops ,bars and restaurants.It is simply one of our favourite places . Thank you to everyone for making our stay so pleasant after a difficult year .
