Love this place!
We've just experienced the cheese and wine tasting, which was really cool. Love it!
However the adult pool was closed and the steam room in the spa was not working. The bar staff near the pool are miserable and not very happy in their work. I think they need to find another job 🤔 we don't pay all this money (£1300 ea) to be served with miserable faces. The staff, everywhere else, cannot do enough for us. Fantastic service. Thank you 😊 xx

Review for Elba Hotel Lanzarote

Unfortunately, my experience at Elba Hotel Lanzarote has been deeply disappointing. While sharing this review might make the rest of my stay even more uncomfortable, I feel it’s necessary to speak out. People work hard to save for a quality holiday, and they deserve far better than what this hotel delivers.

The food is nearly inedible, with very limited options and absolutely no flavor. Although the salads may look appealing, the seafood left me feeling unwell. I’ve tried various dishes, but most were so poorly prepared that I couldn’t eat them. The prawns are overcooked, the roasted sweet potatoes are undercooked, and while the paella is tolerable, it’s far from excellent. Everything seems rushed and careless. For instance, I asked for a piece of warm meat from the grill, and the young cook told me to wait—even though the meat was clearly ready. As a mother of six and an experienced cook, I found this attitude both unprofessional and unnecessary.

As a soup lover, I was particularly let down. The soups served here are cold, bland, and resemble baby food or liquidized meals often prepared for those with swallowing difficulties. My husband, a professional chef with experience in five-star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants, takes pride in creating flavorful dishes that bring people joy. It’s heartbreaking to see such poor preparation and lack of care lead to wasted ingredients.

Cleanliness is another major issue. After four days, the floor in our room hasn’t been wiped even once. Coffee stains I deliberately left on the table remain untouched after three days. Towels were finally replaced today, but the bed linens haven’t been changed, and the beds haven’t even been properly made. I’ve taken photos as evidence because the neglect in room maintenance is shocking. The rooms are spacious and have potential to be comfortable, but the lack of cleanliness ruins any chance of a positive experience.

The dining area is no better. Tables are left dirty for extended periods, and plates are rarely cleared in a timely manner. To make matters worse, the plates and glasses are often filthy—I’ve had to clean them myself before using them. As a paramedic, I’m highly sensitive to hygiene, and on my first day here, I developed a mouth sore—something that happens to me when exposed to poor food or unclean environments.

Hospitality is chaotic, at best. Getting a drink at the dining table can take anywhere from 10 to 25 minutes, depending on the staff member. While a few staff members genuinely try their best (and I appreciate their efforts), others seem overwhelmed, untrained, or indifferent. Basic courtesies like greeting guests or checking on tables are frequently overlooked. On one occasion, it took over 30 minutes for someone to clear our table, and when they finally did, they silently grabbed the plate and walked away without even acknowledging us.

What’s most disheartening is how management handles complaints. When my husband raised concerns, they avoided accountability and even told him he couldn’t record the conversation. This dismissive and evasive attitude only added to our frustration.

A message to the owners: Your hotel has so much potential, but it’s being ruined by untrained staff, poor hygiene, and a lack of care from management. Basic hospitality and attention to detail are completely absent. If these issues aren’t addressed, your reputation will continue to decline. My experience here has been deeply frustrating and uncomfortable.

A warning to readers: If you’re considering staying here, please think twice. Your hard-earned money deserves to go toward a holiday that meets even the most basic standards of quality and care. Stay away!

Hotel is lovely, pool area is large and not overly busy (we did go in November so may be a little quieter). Could be a better variety of food in the main restaurant especially for the kids it was basically the same most nights and lunch’s..

Mini Kids Entertainment team were fantastic always something going on day and night. The kids club was great at keeping the children busy and happy with lots to do! Great entertainment team 💗❤️

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)

We recently stayed at Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort, and while we had a decent week, there are a few points worth mentioning for future guests.

Location: The hotel is a bit isolated. It’s a lengthy walk to the nearest beach, shops, bars, or restaurants, which was inconvenient. However, there is a free shuttle bus running three times a day each way, which helps if you plan ahead.

Staffing: This was the biggest drawback. Only one bar serves drinks during the day and another at night, with just one or sometimes two staff managing all guests. While the staff are fantastic, friendly, and work very hard, the shortage makes wait times frustrating. Adding more staff at the bars would make a big difference.

Cleanliness: The grounds are well-kept and generally clean, although now and then you might see the odd plate or glass left around by other guests. Still, it’s better maintained than many other places we’ve been.

Pools: There’s no lifeguard at the pools, which is surprising. There’s only one attendant stationed at the water slide, which doesn’t feel adequate from a safety perspective.

Food: Breakfast is acceptable, especially if you’re after a typical English fry-up. However, lunch and dinner were disappointing. Options are limited, dishes are often left empty, and it takes a while to get them refilled. For the price, we expected better quality and variety.

Rooms: The rooms are a highlight—modern, spacious, and consistently clean. Iron, hairdryer, towels, shower gel and bath robes included. The €4 per day fee for the safe is steep, though, as it adds up quickly over a week or more.

Extras: Pool towels require a €10 deposit, which you get back, so no big issue there. The entertainment team is small, with only five or six members, but they do their best to keep things lively, especially with the evening disco for younger kids. Adults looking for more options might feel there’s not enough to do during the day.

Drinks: Quality of drinks is good, and there are some cocktails, though limited. Additional cocktail options would be nice, though with the limited staffing, we understand it would create even more pressure on the bar.

Overall: In short, we had an okay week. It’s a decent resort with friendly staff and clean rooms, but the location, food quality, and staffing shortages mean we likely wouldn’t return. Three stars feel fair for this experience.

Visited with my son, perfect hotel for families. Facilities good and always food and drink available. Staff work exceptionally hard and can be overwhelmed sometimes when everyone wants to eat at once, meaning sometimes plates and cups can run out briefly but it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. Pool excellent, some of them are heated but not all. Gardens kept beautifully. Location was fine for what we needed, it is just under a mile walk to the beach. There is a free bus if you don’t fancy walking. Would visit again for sure.

Had an absolutely amazing holiday at this beautiful hotel. Everything from start to finish was amazing. We travelled with our three children aged 2, 5 and 6 and the animation team were incredible with them. They work tirelessly and put so much effort into each activity. Food was fantastic and the staff were always very helpful. The facilities for the children are outstanding and I would highly recommend anyone thinking of staying to definitely book.

Been here several times and can not say a bad word about the hotel or staff! Especially the entertainment staff Costa, Mayra, Rocket and Danny absolutely make the holiday. The children absolutely love them all and they always make people laugh, smile and feel very welcome and at ease. We usually go as a big party and nothing is a bother for the staff. I would highly recommend anyone to come and stay here, you will not be disappointed.

We had a lovely stay in the Elba in Lanzarote. We had a rough start, but all was fixed within a split second thanks to Nadia who helped us throughout our stay with everything. She is an absolute star and works so hard to please everyone, she helped us on the first nights to get to the restaurant as we are not so mobile anymore, with a room change to be closer to reception, with the locator forms, and came and talk to us every single day and called us. She really made our holiday. We stay in touch and can´t wait to come back.

Lovely but at times busy! The best children’s activity staff we’ve experienced. A lovely relationship with the children. It would have helped if the different eating areas were fully open so to spread everyone out. It felt very busy occasionally, and often queueing for drinks was a little frustrating. Overall though… the staff couldn’t have worked harder… maybe they just need more staff (like the rest of the world at the moment). We would stay here again.
