Reviews
General treatment with quite a bit of an attitude from the hotel staff. Reception staff allowed themselves to aggressively clap and hissing to the children from level 5 terrace, while we were on level 2.
No service around the pool/sun beds area - everyone had to go to one little bar to get food and drink, sun beds tables were not cleaned. There was bird poop near sun beds, which no one ever came to tidy up. In our presence a poor boy cut his foot by one of the broken tiles in the pool, no hotel staff/cleaners turned up to clean the trail of blood in the area near the pool and sun beds.
Cherry on the top is the scandal with Lifeguards, who attempted to totally prohibit kids to play in the pool, use inflatables and make any noise. Hotel rules were around prohibiting unsafe play, which were totally aware of and maintained. The lifeguards were everywhere else apart from where they have to be to do their job.
There was no ambience music anywhere in the hotel.
I generally got an impression that families are not welcomed there at all. Appreciate effort of the general manager who tried to make up for all issues, however, his job is to ensure he’s got a good team that is willing to follow, which didn’t seem to be the case.
Rooms are cleaned daily, complimentary shower gel etc is good quality. There's no rush in the early hours to bag a great sunbed, there's loads of them so you don't need to be British about it !! Breakfast is great, again all you can eat.
An on site shop would be great, it would save having to walk to the local store to buy things you need.
We went for breakfast only following some other travellers review. I dont regret our choice, as the hotel is very well situated near the marina with a lot of food options, which turn out cheaper and gives you more variety than the restaurant of the hotel which is good but very repetitive and in my opinion overpriced. Speaking of the local restaurants, if you avoid the cheap touristy places, you can find very nice gems, but i would recommend to book as they are small and get busy quickly and we were turned down a few times.
On the positive side: First of all, the hotel is on a very large estate and very clean and we only saw cockroaches twice during our all stay which is an achievement as this seems to be a problem on the island.
The main pool is really nice, very large and at the perfect temperature. There are plenty of loungers scattered around the hotel, even if you need to go early for the best spots. There are a few other pools as well for children and smaller ones away from the main one if you fancy a more calm sun bedding. There is a pool bar with many drinks and food options which is decent.
The rooms are very clean and spacious (we went for 2 double rooms with garden view), with everything you need for crashing at night : okay beds, a very efficient aircon, a big flat TV screen, a sofa and table, a small terrace for enjoying the morning sun before the temperature gets too hot, and a decent bathroom.
The buffet breakfast is enjoyable with plenty of options. We were going at 9am where it was mostly empty, but even if you go at 09:30am during peak time, the team manages to clean tables very efficiently so you dont have to wait.
The checkin/checkout was very efficient and they carry your luggage to your room, which was much appreciated as i mentioned the hotel is situated on a vast estate on a hill with a lot of stairs.
On the negative sides: these are small little things that could have made our stay better.
Small details in the rooms: the telephone of one the rooms was not connected, despite us raising to the reception, it was never fixed. We needed it once to reach the reception. The minibar was not connected to the power (not a big deal, we plugged it in ourselves).
Overall, the service is not very friendly (except some of the pool life guards), and the staff is efficient but dont really care much. For example, we found a piece of glass in one of our drink at the pool bar, and we didnt feel we were taken seriously at all. We had to insist and speak to the manager who answered to us, but didnt seem to consider the health and safety problem that this was. To clear any doubt, we didnt want any compensation for this, only to be reassured they were taking all the measures so that it doesn't happen again, and the manager was not very convincing. Anyhow, nobody was hurt and all ended well, I am just mentioning this in the context of the service.
There is very little shade near the pool, which is great for people trying to sunbed, but not if you have a fragile skin (like myself and 2 of my children) considering the sun here is scorching hot. There are a few spots with loungers near the main pool under the shade, but you really need to come early (08:30am) to be able to use them.
All in all, a very good stay, nice hotel, this is not a luxury hotel but ticks many boxes and we were not disappointed. I dont know if we will come again in Lanzarote, but we would definitely consider this hotel if we do.
I enjoyed being and eating outside, the marina is close to the hotel and there are many restaurants to enjoy local food, malls to buy goods and drinks, taxis and buses to join the downtown and are cheap. Fortunately the isle is full of stuff you can do and visit and make you enjoy your stay.
I found that the hotel is beneath its reputation, too expensive for what it offers and maybe there are better locations in the isle. As i said renewal of equipment is urgent, better fresh and local food should be a priority.
Overall stop considering people herds of tourists.
Holidays must be enjoyed fully and unfortunately it is not my case. I do not eat beauty and do not sleep on beauty of the hotel. medium food and bad mattress are not beautiful.
3 different pools, 3 different restaurants. The rooms are spacious and luxurious. We are BB breakfast. What a variety there is plenty for every taste. The hotel is 100m to the harbour. There are plenty of restaurants to try. This is our 3rd year of coming here, and we will be booking for 2024. I can't recommend this hotel enough.
Stayed for a week in February in a garden room and it had a lovely terrace overlooking the smaller outdoor heated pool area (although it was also very private). The rooms are nicely furnished and very large with a separate sitting area. Only criticism is perhaps they are a little dated. Everything was very clean and there were nice rituals products in the shower.
We were a family of 6 and a baby and went half board. We were a bit worried about the quality after reading some negative reviews but on the whole we found the food to be good. Breakfast great with plenty of choice. Evening meal good too with quite a bit of choice, different themed nights, main dishes, grilled meats and fish, salads, desserts, ice cream, cheese. The only thing is we weren't sure which theme would be on which night as there was nothing to say anywhere.
The smaller heated pools are both good and look well kept but the large pool over the main restaurant needs a bit of TLC as quite a few cracked tiles etc.
Location was fantastic. Best part of Playa Blanca with lovely restaurants at the marina. Also parking is super easy if you rent a car.
We only tried the evening entertainment one night and it was good. Maybe some more info about what the events were would be good and we tried to go to the bar one night when we came back from dinner and it was closed. Not sure why.
Overall we had a fantastic time at this hotel and I would stay again if going back to PB. Looked nicer than many of the others we passed further towards the main strip.
Thanks Livvo Volcan
Reason for 4 star... the one thing that realy let us down, was on the first night, there was a problem with our air con, the system sounded like it was on its last legs. Complained at reception, evenly someone came to the room and had a look, and he knew exactly was what wrong. (This situation happens all the time? Not good infront of guests)He takes the filter out of the system, and it was horrific, the dead skin dust and fluff was horrific. Totaly unacceptable. He replaced it for a new filter, and all was good. But due to the time of night last day (around midnight) this was far from ideal. And not the start to the holiday we expected from a high end hotel like yourselves.
I reported this on the email review they sent me after the stay, but heard nothing from them, nor an explanation to why the filters were not cleaned, or clearly inspected.
**I will edit this review, if I get a responce to the issues**
