Gran Oasis Resort

Stayed with 3 adults and 4 kids for 4 nights. I had called the hotel early afternoon the day of our arrival to ensure they would have our room set up for us since we were arriving very late in the evening.

Problem #1 of many: it took the receptionist 50 minutes to check us in. We were the only people at the desk because it was 2300. We did not get keys to our room until 2350. My 4 tired kids were waiting in the car with my mother the entire time. He took copies of our passports and said we are good.

Problem #2: We were 7 people and when we got to our room, they did not have sheets, blankets or pillows on the 6th bed, so we were short one place for a person to sleep. I called the receptionist and he said “I’m sorry there is nothing I can do.” So we slept the first night with people sharing beds which resulted in minimal sleep for that night. When I reported this to their manager, they told me “well, you could have slept on the empty mattress in your clothes. You did not HAVE to HAVE sheets or blankets. You were very capable of sleeping on the empty mattress, you just chose not to” …. The manager also accused me of lying saying that the housekeepers said we had sheets we just did not see them. And I definitely searched the entire room for sheets and blankets to avoid the nightmare sleeping arrangement we were facing.

Problem #3: the first morning at breakfast, I had just sat down to eat with my family and the host came over and told me I was not allowed to have more than 4 people at breakfast and I needed to go to the reception counter right now. So he made me leave my plate of food and go back to the reception counter where I had already spent nearly an hour the night before. They informed me that they only had 4 people of our 7 checked in and they needed more information before they could allow us to eat the rest of the trip. They also had no idea where the copies of my passports were that the receptionist the night before had taken. So, I had to go back to my room, retrieve all the passports and do the check in a 2nd time.

Problem #4: we had booked this hotel because I knew my young kids would enjoy the pools and the small water park they have with the slide. One of my kids is 11. We all went to this water park and the lady working the park told my 11 year old she was not allowed to be at the park because the park is not for kids over 10. There was no one else using the park at the time we were there. My 11 year old helps me with my younger children normally and the lady working there yelled at my daughter to leave the park because she was too old. I asked, “so my daughter is supposed to go off and be alone while I am here with my other 3 kids?!” …. And they said no, she could sit there and watch them but was not allowed in the water at all. I, however, the mother, was allowed to assist my kids in the park…. But my 11 year old was not. So this woman kicked us out of the park, yelled at my daughter and made her cry.

Problem #5: the resort claims they offer a free bus to and from Siam park. However, the bus is privately owned and allegedly has nothing to do with the hotel. We took the free bus to Siam. We were outside of Siam park to return to the hotel at 1640. The bus was supposed to come at 1700. The bus does not have signs, and they do not have an area identified to be picked up like every other resort has. when the bus arrived, it stayed on the outer row by the taxi lane, was there for 4-5 minutes and left. We waited 20 minutes, asked the park managers where is the bus for this hotel and which one is it… they couldn’t answer. It was incredibly confusing and we ultimately did not make the bus and had to wait in a 40 minute line to get a taxi back to the hotel. I called the hotel about the issue and they said it was not their problem because it is not their bus….. even though they advertise the bus on their property.
