Reviews
However, I first want to thank the staffs who were attending and listening to my complaints and processed my early check out.
That being said this is what i want to share with the other prospective customers and any members of this hotel that actually run this business.
To be honest, if the business is continued like this, it is matter of time that it becomes uncompetitive in santander even with its amazing location. If most hotels in Santander are run like this, there are better cities in northern spain including san sebastián. And I suggest that it might be better just to stay in Bilbao and have a full day visit in santander (if the whole city's attitude is as this hotel). They have better and cheaper hotels.
In general:
The room was repainted and renovated so that the photos look like how they are in the site or google. However the room is a mess and even more upsetting considering that it costed 300 euros per night for 3 people. There is a previous review with tear apart bathroom: you've got to believe it. I thought it was before renovation but realized it is not.
Every possible corners show cracked wood.
Issues:
1. As i entered the room I saw a ball of dirt. Then it came to my eyes that the table and the sofa had a layer of dust. Has no one ever touched it?
We asked for the tools for cleaning rather than someone to clean for us because the room had already been cleaned and we didn't trust the maintenance.
Then there was miscommunication and we weren't provided a cleaning tool. (which is fine i think). At that point I was looking for a sweeper or any lint roller. But I was given a coat brush. I could imagine how this happened.
So i just used my wet tissue cleaning up some surfaces and floor.
2. What made me decide to get out.
There is a line of hole between the wall(window) and floor which is full of dirts. The built up of dust was beyond what i could tolerate.
How dirty the window is a joke.
This is initially problem of construction. The renovation was done in the cheapest manner.
I just cannot get how they imagined finishing up like this.
The black thing you see is a half inch depth of dust with two meters width. The parts that are white is the part that i scooped and all got clogged up in the middle.
I used a plastic card and seriously it was as dirty as a vacuum cleaner dirt bag.
After first trial of scooping up, it was the point where I stopped cleaning and went down to the lobby to change our plans.
One could say I am obsessed with cleaning but I got upset by the fact that it costs 300-350 euros. It felt like being fooled and i just didn't want to fortify their short term strategy. Tourists come to Santander to enjoy the beach. Yes but not with such cost and service.
3. I mentioned the torn apart bathroom. There was built up of dust even in the washroom. I reckon no one has ever cleaned it properly.
4. People seem to have complained about the shower: how it could get dangerous. Let me add another. The speed of inflow exceeds that of outflow of water. Expect at least an inch of water in your tub :)
It is complicated to sum up the whole stay.
I really loved scenery of Santander but it depreciated a lot because in general. I felt like tourists were a bit treated as a cash. I don't think I would be revisiting the city at least not for a longer stay.
We cannot say enough about how wonderful of a time we had. From the delicious coffee to the excellent receptionists.
Many thanks and we look forward to returning.

Best part is the towels and the water pressure ( 😆)
