Hotel Don Jaime 54 in Zaragoza

Old building. Could use upgrading. No guest control of air conditioning. It appears that previous guests could not change the flow of shower water from hand held to overhead. When I managed to do so the water from the shower was VERY rusty..or whatever made it brown. The walls are paper thin. We were kept awake by loud snoring guest next door. The gentleman at the front desk who checked us in was great. He took the time to chat and give us ideas in what to see in Zaragoza.

The property is well located in a very walkable area. It is clean and the staff is very nice. However, the air conditioner is controlled by the staff and it is zoned by floor. It barely cools and the staff turned it off at around 10:00pm. We had already called two times before to complain. My husband went to speak to the peron at the front desk ( who was very pleasant) and he turned it back on. He told my husband that if it got hot again throughout the night to call again or to open the window!! Therefore, we were expected to wake up from the heat, and call every so often during the night!!

The location is excellent & easy to get around Zaragoza on foot. The rooms were fine & had a fridge which is helpful in high temperatures. The downside is the Air Conditioning, the rooms don't have the ability to manage their own temperature, it is a central system & didn't seem to work in the rooms. Often the corridors were cooler than the actual rooms & in 35 degree temperatures which made for uncomfortable nights. How can a hotel not have air conditioning in rooms? The bathrooms were good with a rain shower however whenever rooms next door use them you know about it!

The location is great, easy access to public transport from the main Railway station & walk out the door to the splendour of Zaragoza's architecture.

The hotel is very centrally located in Zaragoza. The recepcionists are friendly, the beds are comfortable enough for a short trip but beware that, probably due to its central location, it‘s very, very loud. We could barely sleep well the whole night.
