NH Collection Gran Hotel de Zaragoza

Had a great stay at the NH Collection Gran Hotel. The location was excellent. Just a short walk to the old town yet in a nice upscale area. Zaragoza is very safe and walkable. The service was very good. The bellman/valet Andres set the stage the moment we drove up. We didn’t eat in the hotel because of the great bars and restaurants close by.

We have arrived Zaragoza on the busiest day of the year, first Saturday of the Fiestas Del Pilar. It was indeed very difficult to drive to the hotel, all streets in the central area either crowded with people or blocked from traffic. However, the hotel location is superb, walking distance from all major sights, La Seo and Basilica, and not so far from Aljaferia palace. Parking was very tight but hotel staff very friendly and helpful. It was still possible to park in the nearby public parking garage.
Our room was not ready and hotel receptionist kindly upgraded us to a better room. Breakfast was sumptuous and in the very beautiful surroundings of the hotel restaurant. This is indeed, a historic hotel, in the very heart of central Zaragoza, but it has been upgraded and is maintained very well. I highly recommend it for your stay.

We’ve stayed here twice and both times have been superb. The staff are so friendly and the location can’t be beat. Breakfast is excellent. The hotel is a little tired in parts though, and the bathrooms are quite old-fashioned, but other than that I’d highly recommend.

The hotel you want to return to. The welcome could not be more attentive and the room I had this time and previously is optimal. The hotel delights with its classicism and excellent customer service. CONGRATULATIONS

Excellent hotel. Very good location in the city center next to the ancient quarter. Large, clean and bright rooms, friendly and knowledgeable staff, a wonderful breakfast of the freshest sausages, cheeses, eggs, bread and pastries. Valet parking services.

First reason to stay here, the staff. They are amazing, and are there at every turn to assist. Check-in was a breeze, starting from valeting the car, through recommendations on area dining, attractions, etc. Next, the room was spacious, clean, and ready. Third, the breakfast is magnificent. Variety and quality made it a buffet to remember. Finally, location. It's a short walk to the old town, and is off the busy main thoroughfare, though do be warned, there is a local bar on the corner, but the noise from it is just what you'd expect from Spanish neighborhood night life.

This hotel is an interesting curiosity. It wants to be a like a 5-star place, and the service and public areas are up to that level, but things like the tiny lift and limited-size bathrooms mean that in some ways it feels like a city boutique hotel.

We had a very good night's sleep and paid a very fair price. Underground parking 300m from the hotel was €10 for 24 hours, which we felt was OK. There are lots of great places to eat around the plaza a couple of hundred metres north of the hotel. We were here on a Sunday, and there were several talented buskers playing music in the streets. We would like to return to Zaragoza and we would choose this hotel if the rate was as good as we got this time.

Two small negative points:
- The online check-in and check-out are a complete waste of time. Online check-in overwrote the e-mail address of the lead guest (from Booking.com) with those of the second guest. Online check-out sent two e-mails to the second guest and none to the lead guest, with a link that didn't work anyway.
- The buttons in the shower are stupid and don't work very well. We had trouble getting the water to start flowing and then wasted 2 or 3 minutes of water to turn it off again. Just install a normal tap with a handle.
