this hotel saved my life during the terrible heatwave of 2024. their air conditioning is very strong and reliable. The lobby also has stronger AC than even the intercontinental hotel. The rooms are small but compact and practical. they are also surprisingly quiet with negligible drama. shower is very strong, but they barely have any amenities so I would bring your own toiletries. they do have quick...
Great hotel for the price. Was a bit surprised by the cabin toilet which is very small but it had nice features as in a washing line and a Japanese bidet toilet. The AC was great, the beds were okay, the view was okay. It worked great to wash some clothes (cost 4€ incl. detergent and drying), and there is also the option to leave your bags in a locked room after checking out. Overall great service...
This was perhaps one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The rooms were spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the room had everything I needed to enjoy my stay. The staff were great and very helpful and the breakfast was a good presentation of foods. I think the price to value ratio is crazy here and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Marseille
I was concerned about staying here because of some of the reviews but I found it to be very pleasant indeed. The hotel is in safe walking distance of the railway station and easy to see once you have gone round the corner because it is so high. I had a single room and it was perfect for me. Very clean, quiet and I felt safe as a solo traveller. By the way some reviews mention the fridge does not...
Clean, convenient and practical. This modern hotel has all the necessities for a short stay. Well located, walking distance to central tourist sights. The complimentary breakfast was basic but had all the essentials. 👍
Hotel very clean, staff friendly and with a good security system specially to acces the rooms and entrance when it's late in night. Breakfast was good. Overall, good hotel and fair rate. Location: very central to Saint Charles Station (be aware of some steps if you have big luggage), downtown is within walking distance. I would like to mention that the area is sketchy, however, you have a buses stopping...

I stayed here in September 2024. This hotel is extremely convenient to the train station and metro subway - just across the street. Emilie at the desk checked me in and was lovely and very friendly. The room had a nice view of Marseille, the sea, and Basilica. I was given a top floor room by the elevator. The room was clean, furnishings were decent, but I felt like the carpet was due for a change....
Great hotel. We arrived at 3 pm and the front desk manager was very friendly. Recognised my platinum status and offered late check-out which we took. The parking is easy and not too expensive. The room was great and comfortable. The breakfast was surprisingly good 👍. For an inclusive breakfast it was the best in a while. Overall I cannot share any bad experience and will book the HIX in Marseille again
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Marseille - Saint Charles for a week in August 2012 and had a very pleasant experience. The hotel's location is incredibly convenient, right next to the Saint Charles train station, making it easy to explore Marseille and beyond. The staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with any requests. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with...
Completely OK, but no more. Noisy AC and quite a bit noise from the street with window closed (maybe to be expected from centre Marseille though). Very simple breakfast. Fine for a single day stay.
A perfect location to travel by train ! Good breakfast, kind staff and great room noise system- you don’t hear anything in the room !
Location is superb, directly opposite of the train station. There are rooms facing a courtyard but still at night there is a lot of noise. Staff at reception is super friendly! Breakfast has a wide variety of cereals, bread (with Nutella), eggs, fruits…

Hotel is fully renovated! The rooms are a little bit small and with humble equipment, but everything was clean and new. AC also worked. Staff on the reception was very friendly. They also provide parking for 10€ per night, but be careful - if you are not a best driver, you may have some difficulties entering to elevator. But it was all safe. Overall, this hotel deserve better reviews than it has as...
The hotel is completely renovated and nothing like what the old reviews say (I visited in July 2021). The rooms are clean and there are sensitive smoke detectors ensuring people cannot smoke in their rooms - no more smell of cigarettes anywhere. The staff are awesome and the location could not be better, really a great bargain for the price.

Do appreciate the prepaid reservation, quick services and staff personel highly professional to finally put my name on Accor Hotels Fidelity customers program.
Very convenient hotel, walking distance from the station and the vieux port. If you’re here and don’t know where to eat. I would recommend Chez Fanny for affordable and delicious sandwiches for lunch/brunch. Only issue I had with the hotel was the remote for the tv didn’t really work, but we didn’t watch much tv anyway. The hotel is very clean and they gave us extra towels and the view wasn’t too...

The rooms are small but well-equiped, you have eveything you need there, even a dishwasher. The receptionists were very helpul and friendy. The place is quiet yet very easily accessible, only two minutes from the main bus and metro lines, 20 minuts walk to the city centre
Really nice hotel with 24h/7 reception and helpful staff. Rooms clean and well equipped. I recommend it to everyone
It is a mid-range hotel offering rooms at good prices. The room wasn’t big, but had a comfortable king size bed. Bathroom was big, but the kitchenette was tucked away in a cupboard. Daily housekeeping left the room spotless every day, fresh towels provided daily. My biggest complaint is that every light in the room is equipped with bright white LEDs which puts a lot of strain on the eyes in the evening...

I stayed there spontaneously, good rooms , nice place but the bathroom need some renovation or better cleaning may be good parking for a fair price of 8 euro per night nice garden and a shopping center right at the other side of the street
I was expecting more from Ibis brand, in terms of accommodation condition. Roomwas quite small, towels were worn out. Otherwise, personnel was nice and helpful, food in their restaurant was tasty
My friend and I were treated so well here at the hotel . Nothing was any trouble staff were amazing particularly Matisse . We will definitely be back
There are few options in this area and I guess this probably the best one. Location wise is good if you have a car.

Conveniently located vis-a-vis Gare Charles Michel, the Alex has tiny but modern and comfortable rooms with balcony. Beds could have better mattresses, though. Staff is polite and professional. The surroundings are not ideal for dining, this is a Maghreb neighborhood where you will find few women on the street at night. However, a Metro station is right in front of the hotel.
Very nice. Good breakfast (only wish they had some vegetables and fruits). Clean and nicely designed
Very clean and nicely appointed hotel conveniently located next to the Gare St Charles. Nice, simple rooms, new and clean with great sound proof windows and AC. In spite of being on a noisy street, the room was very quiet and comfortable. Spacious bathroom with amenities. Nice and helpful staff. It is a bit of a walk to the Vieux Port and Le Panier but its convenient metro, train and airport shuttle...
very clean. simple. very good location . Nice decoration . Maybe more refresh air just before the customers arriving .... good place and good price .
The Alex Hotel was a great stop for a quick overnight stay in Marseille. It is so convienent to the train station (literally across the street). The staff were very warm and accommodating to us after a long day of travel. American travelers may find the rooms a bit tight but it was comfortable, clean, and cozy.
We loved our stay at this clean and convenient boutique hotel. Staff was helpful and the continental breakfast was just what we needed before we left for our flight. We liked the modern design and location near the train station.

“Choose your room WISELY” If you're lucky you get a room that's decent. If not you might regret it. Some rooms are renovated, for example the room I was given in the front of the hotel. This was after I requested to change rooms because the first one I was given was ran down with a bad view of a ran down back alley area. Getting to your room is a challenge. The hotel setup is like a maze. You get off...

Cleanliness is very questionable. There is no glass or curtain in the shower cabin, so there is a flood when showering. The breakfast is very meager and the food is not replenished.
I visited this hotel in July 2023. The location was perfect with the metro station and tram next to it. It also has many places to eat around! (My favorite one was Wok Udon) I was scared of staying here because of some scary reviews, but nothing bad at all! It was wonderful. Unfortunately, the metro was being remodeled so I only had access to one direction of the metro, instead of both directions...
The hotel is okay. The people at reception were always there, they were polite and helpful. The hotel was full, but luckily it was not noisy. It can do better in general, there are some stains here and there but all in all, it was a good stay. Things work most of the time. The most annoying thing is the wifi where you have to log in every 5 min. A complicated log in, asking you all your data aaaand...
Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet room. Breakfasts were very good with fresh fruit salad, selection of pastries and very good coffee. The gentleman who set out the breakfast gave us really good advice about trains etc. Hotel is well situated for access to public transport.
The hotel is very well located and allowed a walking distance to all the main attractions that we sought. It's also overall very clean and well maintained. However, there were noises due to ongoing construction works, sometimes in the morning which bothered a bit. Also for my last night, noise came out of my neighboring room; there was a couple that kept arguing from time to time. At one point a girl...

The staff are fantastic, knowledgeable and friendly and the facilities are great for a hostel too! I stayed in the large dorm room out the back, and there was plenty of toilets and bathrooms so I was never kept waiting - the beds were clean and comfortable enough 👍 It's also really easy to get to from the train station/bus terminus. You'll have a great time in Marseille if you stay here! Would definitely...
Vertigo hostel is not like any any posh hostel like generators or St. Christopher Inn. But that doesn't mean it's not good. I have been to many hostel across Europe and for the first time I felt it like a home like place. The staffs of the hostel try their best to provide more than what resources they have. The luggage room is for free. The breakfast is for 5 euros but with limited options on buffet...
Gorgeous hostel, kept very clean. Good location close to the train station and short walk to the centre of town (harbour and shops) as well as in between attractions such as the Notre Dam and fountain. Only downside is breakfast was not...
Good for a hostel. Right across the street from the train station. The area isn't the best, but once you get away from the train station it isn't too bad. The bathrooms were clean and showers had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Breakfast is 5 euros. Drinks are for sale at the bar. Smoke sometimes drifts into the bedrooms and common area which can be annoying. No major complaints.

Lovely hotel close at the old port. Excellent room and bathroom. Little bit noisy outside but with the doors closed it was silent. We enjoyed our stay and will come back. Thank you.
Fantastic hotel! Very reasonably priced, centrally located, and clean. The staff were exceedingly friendly: helped print out boarding passes, gave great suggestions, stored our luggage so we could continue to explore before heading back to the airport. Would recommend!
Just spent one night, good location and staff quite nice. Room are okay and clean. Good value for money
Nice little boutique hotel. Centrally Located and quaint. Staff was friendly and spoke English. Stored our bags prior to our cruise departure. We would stay again.

First things first, this place has clearly not been renovated since (at least) the 90s. Moreover some parts of it are clearly falling apart, exhibit 1 my room chair which dropped all four screws on the floor the second I touched it. Secondly, the soundproofing is pretty bad so you will hear random noises and thumping throughout. Thirdly, they use the excuse of covid to not clean your room or make your...

We really enjoyed staying there, perfect for us as a couple, quiet and not too far away from the port or other activities. And the view can’t be beat!
Some say, "Le Rhul" is one of the few real places, where you can have a Bouillabaisse. In our case it was a hotel concierge and he was not wrong (I would like to believe). Very friendly staff at the restaurant. And I take this as "vive la experience!". It must come with the territory when you look for the iconic Bouillabaisse. Otherwise this place is so old-school, other dishes are so old-school. Am...
Amazing restaurant with magnificent sunset views. The bouillabaisse is very traditional and tasted splendid. The fish was really fresh and the croutons with aioli so good! Service was good and they came to top up my dish with hot soup three times. A fantastic experience.
The restaurant is nice, service was partially very good and partially not according to the price level. We had starters and second course (bouillabaisse) which was far too much and also for the kids. A small advice from the waiters could have been helpful. Food itself was good. Portions are huge. 2 adults and 3 kids ended up with 430 eur, which is a number where I expect everything has to be perfect
