One of the coolest hotels I‘ve stayed. It combines the elegant Mediterranean vibes with stylish decor and a friendly atmosphere. Spa is NOT included (which I found to be quite bizarre), but it was great too. One hour is around 15€. There is a pool accessible to guests (for free this time), but it’s not heated obviously. Conveniently located vis-a-vis Gare Charles Michel, the Alex has tiny but modern and comfortable rooms with balcony. Beds could have better mattresses, though. Staff is polite and professional. The surroundings are not ideal for dining, this is a Maghreb neighborhood where you will find few women on the street at night. However, a Metro station is right in front of the hotel.

The Alex Hotel was a great stop for a quick overnight stay in Marseille. It is so convienent to the train station (literally across the street). The staff were very warm and accommodating to us after a long day of travel. American travelers may find the rooms a bit tight but it was comfortable, clean, and cozy.

Good food and service

We arrived early and were advised the room was not yet ready because they were upgrading us to a suite. The room was fantastic with a 2nd level loft bedroom and an expansive balcony overlooking the Vieux Port. The mini-fridge was stocked with a nice variety of included drinks. The location is great for walking to the attractions surrounding the port. In addition, there is bus and metro access literally...

Too many positives to mention all. However room was presented nicely, clean and furnished well. We had a Vieux - Port room with and fantastic view of the Port, the Bastille Day parade and evening celebrations with fireworks. The staff was outstanding. Helping accommodate restaurant reservation requests with little notice. We will be back.

As some have posted, the hotel is a bit faded, but the great room and friendly helpful staff made up for this. The breakfasts are great and good value. It featured local produce. The highlight was the room view over the old port during the Olympic torch celebrations. Staff recommended great restaurants and were very helpful on all matters.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. We were lucky to get the terrace suite with port and city views and wow, we spent hours enjoying the breeze and views. The service was excellent. My only complaint is that the room was quite hot so we keep the patio door open at night which kept us nice and cool. Highly recommend, and definitely go for a room with the view of the port.

This is a fantastic hotel in every respect. The location simply could not be better: view on the Ancient Port, all sights nearby, Metro station in front, ATMs and supermarket around the corner. Very nice hotel! Nice area and good breakfast. Only issue is that the elevators are only 2 old and show ones.

Business hotel. No bar or restaurant on Fridays and Saturdays. Not many restaurants nearby. Ideal for football matches, five minutes walk from the stadium.

The staff were super I was concerned about the damp smell in the room but it aired out. Wonderful help over a forgotten passport.

By far one of the very best meals and experiences we ever had. From the moment you enter, you are taken care of by the friendly staff, everything is incredible. We had a great stay at the hotel. The room was big and the balcony very appreciated. The view on the sea is incredible no matter the weather (junior suite). I would have loved more amenities in the room (like a boiler, coffee machine, tea) and a bit more regularity in the services expected from a 5stars hotel (like picking up the luggage upon our arrival for example).

This is a rating for the new Hotel Maisons du Monde which has opened three weeks ago. The service and staff were extremely nice and professional.
