Huazhu Club's hotels, affordable recommendations

Great example of a refurbished/redecorated hotel, right in the center of Mulhouse, close to all facilities/restaurants. Helpful staff at the reception. Also very good that an underground public parking area is available below the hotel itself, with direct access to it. Finally breakfast is recommended with a very original setup.

Been coming here for over ten years so originally knew it as a Kyriad, which was always a fine, clean but dated hotel.
Passing through from Italy to the U.K. this has a been a great stop over allowing us to have a good break in the excellent town of Mulhouse.
However, the present owners started well making the reception area an amazing location, especially more so at Christmas, but they would do well to complete the refurbishment within the hotel itself, still the A/C is not fit for purpose, the rooms are not cleaned, beds are rock hard slabs, bathrooms have broken fixtures, no shaver points, mould and the cleaner waltzers before you can wake up! Wifi is very poor and needs Facebook to login (always down for us), the staff at night are happy to smoke outside the front door, so receptions smells and the best price is never on their website but 3rd party sites.
In the U.K. we would say "all fur coat, no knickers...", so, we have given up and now will stay elsewhere. I'm sure the hotel staff will argue the points above so here are some pictures (that I don't normally add) taken this morning!!!

We booked one night with two children. The hotel is in the middle of the town with lots of options for food. The decoration of the room is modern. We first got a room and the airco wasnt functioning and the card holder was broken, so the lights would switch off after 2 minutes. After an hour, we managed to get another room. But the new one didn't have a mini fridge, but we were just glad to have a new room that worked. The room was spacious and clean. The water temperature was stable, but the soap/shampoo was really bad. Bring your own.

Very basic facilities, especially bedrooms and bathrooms, are a little better than dormitories, and the price-performance ratio is really not high. Fortunately, the breakfast is relatively complete and the waiters are very friendly. The parking lot is right next to the hotel, which is more convenient.

Lovely hotel located in city center of Mulhouse. Parking garage located next door. Quick check in and out. Fun lobby also has a smal bar for various drinks. Rooms were nice and quiet, has enough amenities. Great views of the cathedral also. Pretty quiet. Breakfast could be a bit better with more warm food options. Best place in town though to stay.

Great location, beautiful lobby and bar, great staff, but... I cannot accept watered down, no name bath soap in the room. I could barely take a shower with it. Usually boutique hotels have nice toiletries and cosmetics, but this was tragic

We had a great stay . We were welcomed at the reception, a really cosy entrance with a bar lounge area. Everywhere there is this warm and cozy feeling, with eclectic artwork, a mix of modern , industrial and antique vintage furniture and props. The receptionist gave us really tasty lamb treats for our puppy, one of the reasons we chose this hotel is because they are dog friendly. They have a small gym and a sauna. The gym is tiny, but just what I needed after a long day driving. The location is fantastic, a lot of small and authentic restaurants and bistros, nice square with a cathedral. The car park is not so easy to find, but after 30 mins struggling with one way roads and local access closed one, we finally managed to find the entrance. Definitely wasn't built for the modern cars, passages are very narrow. We loved to stay here, every room has a different theme.

Starting from the positive: very central location and nice breakfast.
However, the rooms are old, small and not perfectly clean. We will chose some other hotel on our next visit.

The noisiest bedding and the mattress must have been 50 years old, it is placed on a spring bed from the 50s, in 30 years of traveling, I have never slept so badly.
Breakfast, you have to go around the tables already occupied to get a cup, hello hygiene if the person touches and coughs over the cup that you get.
No indication that you have to open the 2 orange fridges, to help yourself to cold cuts, cheese etc ... I am diabetic, I left without breakfast, since it was when leaving that I was informed that it was in the fridges??? A small sign above the fridges would have been welcome!
