Reviews
Another highlight was Maria at the bar, whose cheerful energy and excellent coffee brightened our mornings. When we mentioned we preferred plant-based milk, the team quickly arranged soya milk from the restaurant even though it wasn’t stocked at the bar – such a thoughtful gesture that didn’t go unnoticed.
Our room was kept spotless thanks to Dora, who not only made sure everything was fresh and tidy each day, but also responded immediately when we requested an extra mattress. Everything was handled quickly and with a smile, which made us feel so well looked after.
Meals were consistently excellent, with new flavors and cuisines each evening that kept dining exciting. Some nights even included live music, creating a lively and fun atmosphere after dinner. The whole property is clearly designed with families in mind – it’s very baby and child friendly, which made our trip especially stress-free.
The hotel’s location couldn’t be better: right on the beach, with stunning sea and pool views from our room, and a dramatic mountain backdrop that added to the charm. Between relaxing by the pool, enjoying the entertainment, and the wonderful service, every part of our stay felt special.
We are already looking forward to returning to Hotel Dion – it was the perfect mix of comfort, hospitality, and unforgettable experiences.
• Pools: several areas were rusty and clearly in need of renovation. AND NOT CLEAN AT ALL !
• Bungalow: outdated and in serious need of a refresh.
• Beach: don’t be fooled by the “sandy beach” description: yes, there’s sand at the start, but as soon as you approach the water and seats it’s full of rocks mixed with sand. You’ll absolutely need water shoes to walk safely.
• Cleaning: the rooms were not cleaned every day. When I went to reception to ask for that and that there was not shampoo, instead of solving it, they told me they had to “check with someone” and “call to confirm,” like it was some administrative procedure. At the end I just gave up and stopped asking.
• Service: the reception staff in general gave the impression that guests were disturbing them. On my last day, I asked for help with my luggage (I had several bags), and their reaction was basically like “ugh, fine.” Not the attitude you’d expect from a resort. That same day, another family was literally losing it at reception because their shower hadn’t been working for two days, and still nothing had been done....
And their way of compensating all this? They gave me a bag with two cold waters and a little branch of dried flowers/tea as a “souvenir.”
The only positive point was the food: a wide variety and the restaurant staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming.
Overall : Everything is kind of cheap, the cocktails are just basics, the service below basics... remember You pay 5-star service prices but get a 3-star experience at best. For sure if they change their name of the hotel and put 3 star hotel instead of 5 i will put a 4 star review !
Our family holiday at the Dion Palace hotel in Thessaloniki was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the staff, from the receptionists to the kitchen crew, made us feel incredibly welcome. Their kindness and attention to our needs were truly outstanding.
The food was delicious, and we were very impressed by the staff's dedication to ensuring all guests had a great experience. We especially want to highlight Maria, one of the receptionists. She was exceptionally hardworking and helpful, going out of her way to assist new guests with transport and provide valuable support. Her efforts made our stay even more enjoyable.
We were so impressed with the level of care and attention we received throughout our trip.
The staff checked in with us to see if anything was needed, always with a smile and a sincere willingness to help. It’s clear that guest comfort and satisfaction are their top priorities.
A special thank goes to Georgia and her team, whose dedication, professionalism, and personal touch elevated our experience even further. Their attention to detail and genuine kindness created a warm, inviting atmosphere that we won’t soon forget.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for more than just a place to stay — this is true hospitality at its best.
The overall condition of the hotel is outdated and poorly maintained. The air conditioning in the rooms hardly works, and in the common areas it wasn’t turned on at all. We were traveling with a small child, and the heat made the stay extremely uncomfortable. The pools were acceptable, but it was clear they were not well cared for. To our surprise, the beach was not sandy as expected, but full of stones, which made it unsuitable for families with young children.
One of the most disappointing moments was when we asked at the reception for a baby cot. Despite the fact that the hotel allows bookings for infants under one year old, we were told, “Why do you need one? You have a sofa bed,” and were informed that baby cots weren’t available. This showed a clear lack of preparation for accommodating families.
The food offered as part of the all-inclusive package was also below expectations. Outside of the main meals, there were no snacks available, and only local drinks were included — everything else came at an additional cost. The meals were repetitive and lacked variety, with very few fruits and almost no trace of traditional Greek cuisine. Eating became more of a necessity than an enjoyable part of the stay.
The service, unfortunately, didn’t reflect 5-star hospitality either. At one point, we waited more than 30 minutes at reception, only to find the staff outside smoking. While the housekeeping team was friendly, professional, and considerate of our child’s sleep schedule, the rest of the staff didn’t leave the same impression. In the restaurant, although the team was polite and tried their best, it was obvious they were short-staffed and overwhelmed. It was especially disappointing to see the restaurant manager watching from the sidelines while his team struggled during every meal service, without making any effort to assist them.
The only consistently positive aspect of our stay was the cleanliness. The rooms and shared areas were well-maintained, and the housekeeping team truly stood out with their helpful attitude.
Overall, our experience at this hotel was far from what we expected, and we definitely would not return. It even made us question whether we would visit this region of Greece again.
I give the staff ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!!
I have never met such kind staff, everyone with a smile will serve you with whatever you ask for!! They surprised us for our wedding anniversary with a cake and a candle, they touched us very much!! I thank them all from the bottom of my heart!!
Thank you very much to Ms. Elvira (maybe I got her name wrong) in reservations who helped me a lot to book the room, she assured me that everything is as trip.com says and finally I made the decision to book it!! Ms. Maria at the reception is very kind and always smiling!!! Ms. Evangelia, the public relations manager, is very sweet and kind to inform us about everything that interests us!! Ms. Georgia, the maitre d' of the dining room, whatever you asked for, you had it right away!! Ms. Fani is so sweet with her perfect eggs and pancakes, she made my eggs exactly as I asked for them!!
Many congratulations to all the staff, they have enslaved us!!
As for the hotel, it may indeed need some minor repairs but I don't stay there because everything else was perfect!! The rooms are clean and tidy, the outdoor areas are all tidy, the pools are large and clean, a nice beach with hotel sunbeds at no charge!!
Reasonable prices at the bars!!
I can say value for money!!
I wish we could have stayed longer!!
I hope and wish that we will visit you again!!!
