Porto Carras Meliton Hotel

Huge potential with poor delivery for a 5 star hotel We stayed with half board for 14 nights, as a family of 3. What we hated: - the baggage helpers which are rushing you from the moment you arrive. - The room had to be changed, as it smelled like cigarettes (it was changed without any issues). - The huge emptiness of the lobby (ground floor or any other floor, it’s a huge emptiness like they ran out of money for interior design). - The smell once you come out of the elevator on any other floor than LG. - The lack of coffee machine and cattle in the room of a 5 star hotel. - The unfriendly attitude (rudeness to be more precise) of the restaurant manager (the dark haired one). - The coffee served at breakfast (by far the worst I tasted in my whole life). - The taste of water served at breakfast (bring your own bottle, as it tastes horrible). - The fact that they don’t fix your rooms unless you tell them. - Lack of any water sports (some kayaks or paddle boards are not a huge investment). - The kids club has a very limited schedule. - The deep pool closes very early - They close the pool bar extremely early. - The shower struggles to maintain the water temperature, giving you cold or hot surprises. - The gym; really poorly equipped for such a big 5 star hotel. - They open the News Caffee after the breakfast finishes, so even if you pay the 5 Euro coffee, you can’t enjoy it during your breakfast. - Overall, the staff looks like it simply doesn’t want to be there, with a few exceptions. - The sweets. Just stick to the fresh fruits. - The lifts; slow and very slow. - The stairs; you can only use one side (not to brake your legs) so you keep bumping into the people coming from the opposite way. - The NO FISHING policy (or at least that’s what we’ve been told, when we wanted to fish with our kids). - the dirt on the floors of the Athos restaurant and the bar terrace right before it (see pics of the kids clothes). What we enjoyed: - good WiFi across the hotel, beach and marina - Specious rooms - The “sea view” - The kids pool - The beach bar and the staff over there - Ilias, the guy at the beach towels. Always smiling and welcoming. - Elsa at the Athos restaurant. Really welcoming and acting like she enjoyed her job. - The food variety at breakfast and dinner. - The marina and the Cavos bar (not part of the hotel, but within 5 min walk) - The ferry to Neos Marmaris (4 euro / person one way). Overall, it’s a crowded place where you don’t feel the Greek athmosphere at all. It feels like you are an item on a conveyor belt in a factory, not as a guest in a 5 star resort hence, we don’t recommend it.

Grate oportunity for 5 star but, bad management and service, specialy cleaning hygien and organization on beach and restaurant. Advantage position beach and food quality. Ioanis vale was great and lady on suite beach area as well. We had to call like 4 time daily for cleaning of room and towel change with two kids and baby they didnt remowed trash and dipers for two days in a raw we basicly cleand by our self. Elevators disaster you will go like you travel to Athens. With baby it was horor! Guests are withot fence low budgeted and you have like fight for food for breakfast and dinner almost all guests are on HB except lunch when you can actualy enjoy. On the beach people leave and book sunbada with their personal staf. Its like fight for sunbeds without real rules and organization of hotel! Kids play soccer in hotel hallway also... Activities are evry day same without inovations. There is a lot to be improved on this old feshiond hotel and former pearl of Sithonia. Slitly dissaponted i wish old glory and improvment to Meliton and porto carras!

Simona T 2 Not Worth the 5-Star Rating Review of Porto Carras Grand Resort Reviewed today We’ve stayed at this hotel three times, but sadly, this will be our last. While the beach is beautiful, the overall service and experience were far from 5-star. The bed was uncomfortable, and we had to remind the staff every other day to get clean towels. The breakfast buffet was chaotic — no glasses, no plates, and tables were often dirty or soaked from super wet napkins. The reception was disorganized. We were contacted twice to pay the tourist tax, even though it was already settled. One receptionist even insisted we pay again without checking first. Over all the staff is rude, speaks very limited English, and there is not even a fake smile from their side :D We booked directly through the hotel with a “special Christmas offer” including lunch, only to find out later that the same package was €700 cheaper via an agency. When we raised this in writing, they didn’t respond for over a week, no feedback. Despite being repeat guests, no one acknowledged our loyalty. Guest Services claimed we were upgraded, but the room was worse than what we originally booked :) Sunbeds at the beach are limited — people start reserving them at 11 PM the day before. Drinks are overpriced, and the pharmacy/shop on-site is more than double the normal cost. If you come without a car, be prepared to overpay for basics. I had to remind reception to bring clean towels to the room every other day. Once the room was cleaned at 22:00. Halkidiki now has many better options, even smaller hotels with far more care and hospitality. Unfortunately, this place no longer offers value for money, and certainly not the level of service you'd expect from a 5-star resort. This is a max 3-star last century resort.
