Hotel Bodrog Wellness & Elix Spa

The hotel has partly been renovated. The room we had was spacious and clean, though not spotless. Cobwebs were hanging from the vents in the ceiling, and mildew in the shower area. The staff, some very friendly others on the other hand rather not. The aircon was noisy. The food was bland, boring and not the best quality. The bread and rolls were cheap and nasty! The orange juice, far from 100%. The spa small for a hotel of this size, was rather full when we stayed there, therefore despite the adults-only weekend did not feel quiet, nor relaxing. The “music” in the common areas was just terrible, not only for the choice but for the volume too. We could not believe that a 4* hotel has no bar, and the only place where we could “taste” the champagne advertised as the owners’ and available to be tasted was the restaurant that had no appealing atmosphere at all. In addition we soon learnt that tasting meant buying a bottle of it, as it is not available by glass! I don’t actually think I have ever stayed in a hotel without a bar, in addition in one where tasting meant buying a bottle of a particular drink. The location is perfect but noisy, so I would say, far from good value for your money. Overall, not a place we would like to revisit...

This review is based on my limited experience during a conference. I did not use the wellness facilities such as the swimming pool or the fitness room. In my room, a mini bar was at our disposal. Rooms were cleaned carefully every day. Breakfast was good. The external appearance could benefit from an update, and the same applies to armchairs in the rooms and the curtains. I had the impression that the air quality of the air conditioning was not entirely optimal. As to service, the level of English of the people at the desk was not always excellent, but they were always friendly and willing to help.
