Hotel Assarotti in Genoa

I booked a room for one night as I was passing through Genoa. The lady at the reception gave me the keys to my room, number 26. The access corridor was narrow and dark and we had to walk in single file. The room was small, dark and cramped with dated furniture. The view was into an internal courtyard but the window could not be opened except for a crack due to the cars parked right in front of the window itself. The bathroom was created in a ravine positioned higher than the room at about 10 cm difference in height which could be accessed without a step... extremely uncomfortable during the night as I risked really hurting myself. The inside of it was really bad: the toilet paper resting on the toilet drain, the hairdryer burned in the spout part. The only positive notes are the kindness of the staff and the possibility of having a sweet and savory breakfast for just €5.

Obviously the hotel is partially renovated. This means that without being warned in advance you may stay in an old non-renovated Room paying the exact same price. That was the case for us, the room that we stayed was very old-fashioned but that is not the main problem. The bathroom sink was dripping every time we opened the tab and the bathroom was flooded instantly, the toilet seat was broken, the room had a very strong strawberry fragrance as if they were trying to cover up another odour, the curtains and the bed covers looked like they were bought in the 1960s. The moment we went in that room we were looking forward for the night to pass. Luckily we had booked only one night stay. Definitely not recommended!!!

They cancel your booking, if you do not arrive at estimated time of arrival, even if you secured your booking with a pre-authorised card payment. Leave you stranded in Genova. Business that work with that kind of principles, I would recommend avoiding.
