Hotel Miramare

BED BUGS EVERYWHERE. THEY WERENT EVEN SORRY FOR IT. THEY CLEARLY ALREADY KNEW AND GAVE US ANOTHER ROOM BLOCKS AWAY ON A FIFTH FLOOR WITH NO ELEVATOR. DIDNT EVEN OFFER TO HELP WITH BAGS.

Just got back from a week’s holiday in Maiori Italy, we booked through Love Holidays. Maiori is a pleasant town on the Amalfi coast. It’s about 15 mins drive from Amalfi. One of the main benefits is that Maiori is flat with no steep steps like Positano and Amalfi. The hotel we stayed at was the Hotel Miramare, it was more like ‘Faulty Towers’. We arrived late in the evening and the gentleman on reception (a ‘Manuel’ double) allocated us room 112. There are around 20 rooms of which half have been refurbished. Of course, our room was not one of the refurbished rooms. It was depressing had not been decorated since the 1960’s and looked very very tired. The view from the window was over the car park and run down buildings. The shower over the bath had no screen or shower curtain. This room was not even a ‘one star’ accommodation. We complained the next morning and they offered us an apartment room in the building nearby. This room was much better, however although the shower was a cubicle, the water temperature control was impossible to maintain a medium temperature. If fact it was very dangerous as it was a scolding heat one minute and freezing cold the next. It became a fight with the shower every time we used it. It was clean but for two days our towels were not replaced and bed not made.
The next disappointment was the breakfast on offer. This was available in the basement between 07.00 – 10.00. This hotel had no idea about replenishing the cold buffet when items ran out. If you arrived after 07.30 for breakfast most of the items were not available. The poor guy Diago who ran the breakfast room did his best and provided a good service, but the hotel did not support him.
One positive point was the hotel location. It is very central to all the shops, bars, restaurants and only 50 yards from the beach promenade.
We could not recommend this hotel based on our experience.

Not good. THIS IS NOT A 4 STARS HOTEL!!

The only thing nice about the hotel is that the rooms are cleaned very well.

Everything is super old, including breakfast!! Everything’s from the day before and the breakfast room is dirty, dark and with molds on the walls. Besides, the hotel is on a very noisy street, it’s hard to sleep until maybe 2 am.

But the more painful thing is the woman receptionist during the mornings. During check in, she made fun of the fact that I hold an Italian passport. She did not realize I was understanding what she was saying. SO RUDE and ignorant of her! Not the best welcome.

The man receptionist during the evenings is nice and helpful, but still TRUST ME, DONT GO TO THIS HOTEL. I’ve been to better hostels and 1 star hotels than this shh hole ever was.

I spent some days at this hotel in Maiori. The location was very good. The room was spacey and very clean. 5/5 on these two points and heads up to the maintenance lady who did a very good work.
It goes to only 1 star or 0 if possible because of one of the employees at the reception, who was very unprofessional/rude. She did our check in without explaining anything, just placed a card and a key in our hands. We had to ask for everything ourselves and wait for a grumpy answer. The most problematic part was when we asked her for the key of the room, which was removed from inside our room and put on the counter at the reception. She was not patient enough to hear us and when we told her she was not very professional she left us talking to her back and then returned by saying in a very hostile way that everyone has his ways!!!! This communication really ruined our evening and we felt unwelcomed.
The breakfast could be improved as well. A bit poor. However the guy who prepared the coffee was great!

4star hotel??? Maybe it was a 4star hotel in the past. One night in this place is enough.
