Hotel Miramare

I can see why this place has negative reviews. Unfortunately they are all true. After a few nights here, I’ll never stay here again. Breakfast is terrible. Some stale bread and a barely working toaster. A few pastries. One type of meat and one type of poor quality cheese. They put out eggs and they do not replenish them, nor do they replenish the fruit or anything else for that matter. You either eat as soon as they open or your options are very limited. The one person working is polite but obviously can’t keep up because we waited 20 minutes for coffee and there were only 9 people in the room. We were up on the balcony - which is advertised as being available for hotel guests - and we were told we cannot use it because it is for the people who live there. The sheets and cover for the bed are stained (they might be clean but they have permanent marks all over them). The rooms are rundown. Only some are renovated and a colleague of mine has tattered bed frames (just like the post from a previous guest showed in photos), mould in her bathroom and near the air conditioner, and the beds are as “soft” as cement. The rest of the staff seems okay but the interaction has been sparse so I can’t fairly tell you anything negative about them. Seriously - this was advertised to us as “first class accommodations” as part of the package we paid quite a bit for, and what a disappointment. Do yourself a favour and don’t stay at the lowest ranked hotel in this town.

If you have mobility issues do not stay here, there is no lift available, currently all boarded up meaning 66 steps up if you happen to be on 3rd floor where I was. This is also the location of the sun terrace. Puzzled as to why this hotel is rated as 4 star. Breakfast is a dismal affair in a basement room and most mornings hot food (3 choices) had ran out and toaster was switched off.

BED BUGS EVERYWHERE. THEY WERENT EVEN SORRY FOR IT. THEY CLEARLY ALREADY KNEW AND GAVE US ANOTHER ROOM BLOCKS AWAY ON A FIFTH FLOOR WITH NO ELEVATOR. DIDNT EVEN OFFER TO HELP WITH BAGS.

Just got back from a week’s holiday in Maiori Italy, we booked through Love Holidays. Maiori is a pleasant town on the Amalfi coast. It’s about 15 mins drive from Amalfi. One of the main benefits is that Maiori is flat with no steep steps like Positano and Amalfi. The hotel we stayed at was the Hotel Miramare, it was more like ‘Faulty Towers’. We arrived late in the evening and the gentleman on reception (a ‘Manuel’ double) allocated us room 112. There are around 20 rooms of which half have been refurbished. Of course, our room was not one of the refurbished rooms. It was depressing had not been decorated since the 1960’s and looked very very tired. The view from the window was over the car park and run down buildings. The shower over the bath had no screen or shower curtain. This room was not even a ‘one star’ accommodation. We complained the next morning and they offered us an apartment room in the building nearby. This room was much better, however although the shower was a cubicle, the water temperature control was impossible to maintain a medium temperature. If fact it was very dangerous as it was a scolding heat one minute and freezing cold the next. It became a fight with the shower every time we used it. It was clean but for two days our towels were not replaced and bed not made.
The next disappointment was the breakfast on offer. This was available in the basement between 07.00 – 10.00. This hotel had no idea about replenishing the cold buffet when items ran out. If you arrived after 07.30 for breakfast most of the items were not available. The poor guy Diago who ran the breakfast room did his best and provided a good service, but the hotel did not support him.
One positive point was the hotel location. It is very central to all the shops, bars, restaurants and only 50 yards from the beach promenade.
We could not recommend this hotel based on our experience.

This hotel has a 4 star but according to us and our experience this could be a 2+ or 3-. Best with the hotel is that it’s very close to the beach. Anna in the reception was very helpful otherwise no service countable. Room with no/bad air condition, cockroach in the WC beside breakfast room. Un polite breakfast service and “old” food served as breakfast.
