Hotel Margherita

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Our room was upgraded (but only for the first night) and the two rooms were like two different stays. On the top floor we had a beautiful ocean view room with the most comfortable beds, reasonable shower size, and thoughtful accouterments. However, the walls are paper thin and even when you have in earplugs we heard a huge drama in the next room. It was horrible.

Then we were moved down to the slums. I understand that we needed to move, but when the room was ready we were forcibly rushed and escorted out of the room, not yet prepared. The beds are noticeably harder, the shower could barely fit a toddler, and the “garden view” was a giant cement rock. The person above us must have been moving people and furniture. It was so loud and doors were slammed throughout the night. There is no temperature control on the lower floors, so you have to deal with where they set it.

Honestly, it was great that I had the experience of the upper floor, or this would have been a ONE STAR review. I’m not quite sure how this is a 4 star hotel at all. These bottom level rooms are equivalent to a motel 6.

I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone who is used to a 4-5 star experience. Sleep is crucial to me, and we lost a fair amount of that here.

The staff was kind, but again, I expect a little more from a 4 star hotel.
