Hotel Imperial Beach

Generally enjoyable stay. I went on holiday alone with 2 small kids so I didn't have too high expectations from it. The location on the beach was really nice, which was important for me and is the only strength of this hotel. All animations were in Italian or for Italians even though they tried their best and put up kids disco for most nights. No big deal, maybe they just get most of the guests from Italy but in comparison with a hotel in Cyprus where we stayed last year and had a magician one night, parrot show the other night, Latino dancing show, etc. the program was really poor. The animator was super nice but she just didn't have the tools. This was a pity as I wasn't able to go out to the city with two small kids for the evening program, so most times we stayed only for the kids disco which took 20 minutes or so and then went to our room to sleep. Food was alright, not particularly delicious but you can eat it. Meat was usually overcooked and really hard to chew on, I don't think I liked any of the main fish foods (each had an unpleasant fish smell and normally I really love fish), not one single day there was the famous pizza, and the pasta, oh my god, was so over salted that I couldn't eat one bite of it!! Each single pasta I tried!! I thought it was just me as I don't put too much salt in food generally but then I talked to other guests with kids and they confirmed the same. Kids love pasta! Please make it edible for them 😅. Also, you get the same offer for each breakfast. You kind of get tired of scrambled eggs, bacon and the sponge cakes after a week. Very little fruit (oranges looked so sad I never ate one). No peaches, bananas, pears, melons... Canned peaches yes. The hotel is about 20 minutes walking distance from the city centre so that was ok even with the stroller. Very nice staff. I hope the owners pay them well.
