Hotel Metropole

Just returned from a fabulous week at The Metropole. This was our second trip to Sorrento, so we're aware of the standard of hotels in the area. This hotel met all those standards. It is a short walk on the road to the paved area. However, the bus stops right outside.

Stayed for a week and found it a great base for doing all the sights we wanted to see. Hotel is spotless, rooms cleaned every day and always fresh towels and bed made, lots of hotels don't do this now so it was a bonus. Breakfast was excellent, scrambled eggs and breads were lovely and lots of choice too. Half board dinner was worth what we paid, not too keen on the risotto options but everything else was very fresh and tasty. Not a complaint more an observation, the salt shakers didn't work, could do with upgrading them and also a full length mirror in the room or even just another mirror in the main bedroom would be handy. Staff were all friendly and helpful, they did their best to try to remember who you were which was nice. It is up a hill on a busy road, we knew this when we booked, it's a road so will obviously be noisy but the doors to the balcony cut out the noise when closed and we quite enjoyed watching the traffic navigate the 3 road system that was right outside. To walk to town you do need to walk at the side of the road for a short while but it'd not a problem and you can catch the bus outside if you want to. Also if you go up the path at the side of the Hotel Britania it takes you up the back and out at the supermarket so you avoid the road all together, it takes longer though. This hotel is well worth what we paid and I would recommend to anyone that has done their research, it's not fair to blame the hotel for things like the road or location which you could find out about before you booked it. Lovely hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We went half board which was great, varied food options, sometimes not what we liked. Breakfast was great, a huge range of food. The hotel and room was very clean. Pool was lovely although very cold, but was nice in the heat! The walk down to Sorrento was a little scary but only not on a footpath for about 5/10 minutes.

Just returned from a one week stay here.

What can I say, clean, comfortable, very friendly staff, great A/C (Just as well with the heatwave). Really pleased we picked here rather than the centre of Sorrento as it was much quieter - the balcony doors were great at soundproofing the road. The view from the balcony was just stunning! Pool and bar areas were superb.

Only on B&B so not able to comment on the food, just as well as the choices in Sorrento were fantastic!! Walked in each day - yes there is no footpath for the first part, but the road limit is 30kmph so hardly treacherous, and surprisingly the locals drove relatively sensibly round this area.

Went here for the day to use the pool etc , was delighted with the staff, very friendly and professional, hotel was lovely and clean. The pool was gorgeous! Had a fantastic lunch and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Top notch !!

Where to start? The hotel was nice and small providing an intimate experience, where we felt welcome and comfortable at all times. The staff were super friendly and got to know us as our stay progressed resulting in lots of fun and a more personal approach. We got to know them all by name, Carmine, Luigi and Natty were such fun and young Simone kept us happy around the pool.
Our room was cleaned daily and towels changed on request and beds remade. The facilities were adequate for our needs although a small fridge and maybe a safe as standard would have really sealed the deal. The view from our balcony was stunning. The pool was perfect, as was the service around the pool ( refreshments/food charged to room). Whilst the half board food wasn't spectacular, it was nicely cooked and presented with at least 3 options per course each evening. During our 14 night stay we never got offered the same menu twice(good variation) some of the menu translated funnily ("Perch with Crazy water" for instance)
Buffet breakfast was well stocked and although the same each day, there was plenty of choice including bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, a pancake making machine, cerals fruit, cheeses, cold meats along with a miriad of pastries and cakes

In love with this hotel. Amazing location with excellent price. Has beautiful view from the pool side.

Very nice , good food, brilliant staff, nice view of the bay and volcano. There is a nice cove bay across the road that very few people know about.
