Reviews
We have booked the family twin rooms with balcony which are very spacious and modern and right next to each other (but not connected).
Very warm and friendly staff, always smiling and very nice to our 3 (quiet loud) kids. The food is excellent and the dinner menu changes daily. They have all kind of pastas and pizzas, a huge anti pasti and salad bar (my favourite!) and fresh, healthy soups! I also love their breakfast with fresh fantastic bread and lots of cheese and charcuterie.
The ski boot room is in the hotel (handy!) and the ski hire is right next door. The only problem here is to get to ski slopes/ school.
I suggest not to book the ski bundle with Crystal Ski as their ski school is a long distance of 20 minutes walk away from the hotel, but because we have three kids and had to carry all the skiers we had to go twice up and down which (I kid you not!) took 1,5 Hours. Crystal Ski refused to help us in any way (maybe a trolley service?), the girls just shrugged their shoulders as in “your problem, not ours”.
I would suggest to instead book the ski lessons with the ski school next to the hotel which is up the flight of stairs (see pictures) and then a few minutes walk in the snow, so much more convenient. Their class sizes are also much smaller than the Crystal Ski school which is much nicer! It would be nice if the hotel could invest in a lift for the 4 flights of stairs, that would make the slope experience of this hotel so much more convenient!
There is a nice and spacious kids’ club/ nursery where you can sign up the kids at and the staff Felicia and Christof were very so lovely with our little one.
I had to use the laundry service of the hotel once and it was very reliable. I gave in the clothes at 5pm and asked to have them back at 9am the next morning and they arrived on the dot in my room.
Edit: There is also a game room and a big paddle court which annoyingly they didn’t allow us to play with our kids :-( that would have been a lovely activity to do with them after the slopes close at 5.
Also, sadly they won’t let us use the spa/ swimming pool after 5 with kids which is annoying because we only come back at 5pm from the slopes so the afternoons can be very boring here with kids and a lot of hanging around until dinner time. I suggest the hotel makes kids club/ paddle court/ swimming pool accessible to families with kids in the afternoon to avoid the boring void between closing of the slopes and dinner time.

We were promised a refund within two days by Crystal Ski staff if we would REBOOK and REPAY for the whole ski bundle minus the ski lessons to for the cancelled lessons, which we did. So now we are owed a refund of £1500 but we haven’t heard back from Crystal Ski even after 1 month of holiday. Emails and calls stay unanswered.
- bedroom was located directly next door to the apre ski bar, walls vibrate with the sound of the horrendous music they play. We requested to move room on 3 separate occasions and were told they were fully booked despite rooms still being available to book online. The ‘hotel manager’ seems to take a day off every day, never on site.
- outdated, tiny rooms in the old part of hotel that are not photographed online.
- plug sockets in rooms do not work.
- need to pay €20 deposit for a second boot locker key despite the room being booked for two people.
- fridge in rooms do not work.
- food is extremely greasy and bland. Group of 12 of us stayed, over half the group had sick stomach’s during the week.
- no glass bottled water allowed at the table at breakfast time, have to keep refilling from water station from plastic cups 100ml in size, despite glass bottles being allowed on the table for dinner.
- dining room is so packed it is like walking through a maze to get to your table.
- the wine is refilled into bottles every night, not freshly opened bottles.
- spa and pool facilities are very disappointing. Pool and jacuzzi are cold. Children from 12 years up are allowed run riot around the pool and spa area with nobody controlling them.
- no shower facilities in the spa/pool.
- service at the pizza/pasta restaurant is extremely slow, needing to ask 3/4 times for drinks that never came, waited 45 minutes to order our food.
Needless to say, save your money and go elsewhere!
Good location, facilities, ski hire and locker room in hotel. Lovely views on either side (but not from all rooms) both day and night.
Away from shops. Awful queues to get into the ski hire shop for either fitting or collecting unless you go on as early as possible on your first day, before breakfast.
Per other reviews, most staff really - shockingly - unwelcoming, arrogant, dismissive and rude. Same attitude whether you speak English or Italian.
The waiters at breakfast and dinner are really nasty, openly mocking and talking about guests behind their backs (forgetting some guests speak Italian). All dining and bar staff appear to be perennially angry and behave inappropriately rude for hospitality staff. They seem intent on frustrating you and get you out as soon as possible.
Having arrived late on first night, we were blocked from reception and doing the check-in and corralled, much like sheep, towards the restaurant so that kitchen staff can close up on time. Passports were retained without being told they were needed till next morning - unusual and strange; doesn't inspire trust. Barking monosyllabic orders in English and arrogant instructions under the guise of "just giving you information" were not conducive to a good first impression.
The hotel is full of aggressive restrictions/prohibitions notices literally on every wall and door about what you're not supposed to do as a guest. Same in the dining area. A staff member was checking corridors in the morning to see if guests were out and away. All this makes for a prison-like atmosphere.
This is a Crystal Ski hotel and their staff is really nice - helpful, knowledgeable and smiling (a rarity).
My only small suggestion for improvement would be having tea facilities by default in all of the rooms. I asked about this and was told that you have to pay a small deposit to have the tea facilities in your room, but they don’t provide any milk.
This obviously isn’t enough of an issue to be hesitant about booking this hotel, we loved it and would consider coming back here again in the future!
Our week here was completely ruined by the hotel. Firstly there are a lot of hidden costs, the mini fridge in the room is €70 just to be able to turn it on as they refuse to turn it on without also making you buy drinks. Despite 4 people in a suite we had a two person ski locker and were told to buy another if we needed more space. The pool and padel courts are also very expensive and not included.
The 'special restaurant for 1 night' has a laminated menu and incredibly boring and limited pizza and pasta choices only.
We requested an extra pillow that took two days to be given. Despite 4 people in the suite we were given 3 towels on two days and just 1 towel on another!!! On asking for more dressing gowns so we could each have one we were instead told we shouldn't have any in the first place and they would not give more!
The housekeeping barely cleaned, never changed sheets and as you can see with the picture never even dusted surfaces. One day they even left the door wide open! To which a very rude front of house manager tried to belittle me and explain how to work a door instead of disciplining her staff!!
We also believe they mistakenly threw away a carrier bag of makeup (which we appreciate can sometimes happen) however the front of house manager and the cleaner then coming into our room and going through stuff while accusing my partner of lying and reducing her to tears was not how this should be dealt with!!!
I myself have worked in a hotel in the Italian alps and if I had treated guests like this I would expect to be fired!!!
The only saving grace was a very apologetic and professional crystal ski rep, to summarise, the ski area is nice and crystal ski are good but whatever you do don't book this hotel! The 3* ones in the town are far better!!
Staff - all of the staff seemed to think that any request was far too much effort, from asking for an extra pillow to trying to get some glasses in order to have a drink in your room. For 5 star you would simply expect there to be a high level of service whereby no request is too much, the management were rude and never wanted to assist with any issues. We were visiting for a ski holiday and a wedding with elderly family members in attendance, the hotel management offered no real solutions to assist those with mobility issues and just dismissed any issues and referred us to the booking agent (who obviously could not do anything as there were issues with the rooms themselves). The staff kept referring to getting in trouble with the owner, it seemed as though they were all walking on eggshells as he ruled over them with an iron fist. The only shining light in the staff section was Chami who was incredible, he went above and beyond for all of the guests and couldn't help enough. The staff in the bar were also friendly but they didn't seem to like bigger groups.
Food- Again, for 5 stars, you'd have expected more; however, it was mostly fine. The overriding issue being the fact that the majority of food was cold, even if you arrived early and were seated as soon as the restaurant opened. There was also a severe lack of vegetarian options (Parmesan is not vegetarian). The salad bar had no labels on anything nor did the puddings so if you have any allergies, beware. Breakfast was also a disappointment, not much variety over the week, it was the same every day, but again it was fine just not five star as advertised.
Room- we stayed in a double room, tired and old with a lack of storage, broken shower and very outdated, again this is meant to have been five star.
Spa and swimming pool - not everyone in a ski resort will ski all of the time but they insist it must only open after 2pm, it is also a shame because it is €20 euros a or €50 a week to use.
The hotel is in a good location for the slopes, that is the only other overriding positive.
Overall I cannot give it more than 2 stars and that is mostly because I have stayed in 3 star hotels that have been far better than this, in fact I have stayed in hostels with nicer rooms and facilities.
