Villa Anakao Mauritius

We had a lovely suite with roof terrace and fantastic sea view . Huge beds, AC great bathroom .
Staff were all lovely and you didn’t feel any sort of resentment from anyone which can be the case sometimes.
Breakfast was great everyday and their limited dinner option was something that we tried a few times because the chefs really were very good at their jobs .
The building is a lovely old hotel but needs a little bit of attention as it is starting to get a little bit scruffy . That being said , it was very comfortable and we definitely were very happy with our stay there and would re-book with them

Amazing
It was amazing. Made me feel at home! Love every staff, they were all very helpful! Love the food, had dinner four times at their restaurant, every meal was good ! Also reasonably priced!

The Indian manager was very responsible and provided excellent service.
Cleanliness: Clean.
Environment: Beautiful, with a view of the sea, but no swimming, not a beach. When booking a hotel in Mauritius, be sure to book several days at a time, as prices may increase during peak seasons or rooms may be unavailable.

Lovely place to stay . Nice rooms and the common areas were really nice and clean. Staff was super kind as well

Great Place to Stay
We had a wonderful day at the Villa Anakao. The location is right on the water and you get great views of ships passing the island. The pool is lovely and the service is excellent. We had an excellent breakfast and dinner there. Clean and comfortable, I recommend it highly.

Very nice, true Mauritius experience. Lovely suite overlooking the pool and ocean. Meals prepared onsite. Breakfast included. For dinners, the menu is posted and you sign up for your choice of appetizer, main and dessert. Lovely quiet place with friendly helpful staff. Lush gardens, plenty of shaded seating, and colorful birds. I'd definitely recommend especially if you prefer a friendly authentic stay rather than a glitzy resort.

Perfect for those who value history and character
Villa Anakao is the perfect secret getaway. The hotel is built on a little piece property which is a paradise in an otherwise commercial part of Port Louis. The father/son team managing the place are true gentlemen and made our stay truly perfect. Like staying in an old manor house rather than a slick motel. Ideal for those who value history and character more than a modern, cookie-cutter resort. There is no swimming beach on the property, but the pool and hammocks were all we needed. The little outside restaurant serves simple Mauritian dishes cooked by local chefs using fresh from market ingredients. We had no desire to travel off property for our meals they were so good.

Wonderful stay.
Excellent service, wonderful property. We had a beautiful upstairs family suite and really enjoyed the overall stay. The family suite can get very warm in the main living area, although there is air conditioning in the one bedroom. There isn’t a lot immediately around the property, so you will need a vehicle or plan for private transportation or tours if you want to see the island.

This is a lovely place. There is no beach nor access to one. The pool is nice, the food is wonderful. It is very invting and feels secluded. A great place to just stay. They will help set up any activities you could want

My wife and I spent 4 nights here at the start of our stay in Mauritius.

Overall it was a good experience with only a couple of negatives.

First the positives:

1 - The room was very nice and spacious and was cleaned every day to a good standard.
2 - The outdoor area with the pool was very pleasant and the pool although not heated (which is fine considering it was very hot) was also cleaned regularly.
3 - Breakfast was very nice and the staff very helpful and would make whatever eggs etc you would like.
4 - In general reception staff also very friendly and helpful.

Just a couple small negatives:

1 - Dinner was fairly expensive (600 Rupees just for a main course per person)
2 - Next door is an events location so on Saturday night we heard very loud music, karaoke and a guy with a microphone which was way too loud. This continued late into the night. Not this villa's fault obviously but something to be considered. This was our last night at the villa so unsure if the same thing happens regularly or just at weekends.

There is also a positive and negative in the form of the local dog named Zulu which stays at the villa.

A very friendly and lovely dog but who definitely needs a bath.
Unfortunately he barks late into the night every night (This could be seen as a positive in terms of security).
